I would not buy these again - in fact, I wish I returned them!My Mom bought me this set for my anniversary two years ago. We use it regularly and run it through the dishwasher and it is just horrible looking. It spots and marks pitifully. I can't get most of the spots off no matter what I do. I wrote the company to complain and they said they would replace it if I mailed it in, but with the weight of the set (because it really is a heavy-duty set of flatware) it would have cost me a fortune to ship it to them and then all I would have gotten in return was another set of flatware that would probably look the same way in a short period of time. So, I am just putting my experience out there to help others make an informed decision.
would have appreciated a box in better conditionHaving bought this item for a friends wedding gift, I was a bit upset when the package arrived and upon inspection found that the box was actually torn. This looks like I purchased the silverware at a yard sale or bargain bin. The only positive thing was that it arrived on time.
Good for the moneyGood quality, they do spot if you allow the flatware to air dry. I hand wash and immediately hand dry. Highly recommeded!

So far, so good. After a brief learning curve, we are now enjoying perfect rice and steel-cut oatmeal 3-5 times per week. The bowl seems much more sturdy and non-stick those on our previous 2 rice-cookers. The retractable cord is very nice. The entire thing is pretty easy to clean since the inner lid is detachable. It seems to take slightly longer to cook rice than with our previous cooker, but the previous one left a burnt crust in the bottom.
nice cookerMakes perfect rice. I press the button and it goes. In a standard cooker, sometimes the rice on the bottom is burnt. No problems here. The rice scoop is dimpled, I didn't know why until I used it, rice doesn't stick to it, great!
I think the 10 cup might be more worth the money, we purchased this one because my girlfriend said that the 10 might be too big. It isn't much bigger than this one, but I had to listen to her. Anything smaller than this is TOO small.

sanyo steamerI have had my rice steamer for a week now. looks like it is made well. I went over the cooking time and my rice did not burn, I did not set the timer right,my fault I was just trying to learn to use it.I put stuff in the vegetable tray for a complete meal.I was never a big rice eater but I am on a low fat diet now. after looking over many rice cook books, looks like there is many rice recipes from all over the world as every country eats rice.you can get a lot of sauces and mixes for rice in the grocery store.

Some Minor Things The Other Reviewers Left out.PROS:
-It comes w/a retractable power cord that retracts into the base
CONS:
-The rear of the lid DOES NOT have a steam-moisture collector. Tiger brand has a very nice, very high end rice cooker that incorporates a steam-moisture collector into the back of the lid. Typically, when you open the lid of a rice cooker, there will be moisture on the bottom of it from the steam. When you open the lid up 90 degrees, the moisture will drip down the lid onto the plastic housing of the rice cooker. The Tiger brand has an ingenius "collector" at the base of the lids of their models and the bottom surface of their lids are designed to channel the moisture so that when you open the lid, the droplets of water run down into the "collector" and makes for easy cleanup. You just pop out the collector and dump the excess water from the steam. Our mom has this model and was disappointed that Sanyo didn't incorporate this feature.
I've only own this for a week but I'll be updating this as time goes on. So far, it does make great tasting rice and is easy to use!

Slow cook feature could be better, power cord contains lead.I have just bought this item and used it twice. I have not noticed any smell that others are referring to. There are warning labels next to the heating element, perhaps you should remove those if you have a problem with "burning paper". I first made brown rice, which turned out excellent even after setting the timer almost 24 hours in advance and putting in much more than the recommended water level. It seems to detect the excess water and steams it all out because there was no water left after cooking. I also used the slow-cook feature to make chili. The manual doesn't say what temperature it slow cooks at, but I set the timer for 6 hours. It ended up a little overdone so I am guessing "slow-cook" is similar to the "HIGH" setting on most other slow-cookers, not the "LOW" setting, which is a bit dissapointing because I like to slow-cook for 8 hours or more. Overall, this is an excellent cooker, although the manual says the power cord contains lead, which is toxic. This seems unnecessary to put toxic elements in the cord, so I down-grade the rating to 4-stars.
Super micom fuzzy logic rice cooker - Perfect rice and porridge!First, the Sanyo micom rice cooker DOES NOT have a burning chemical smell...it never did from the first time we have used this cooker. For the people that complain about this, did you check to make sure there is nothing at the bottom of the bowl and the cooker? The cooker comes packed with a sheet of white translucent paper between the cooker and the bowl, so make sure to remove it before cooking for the first time. And if this isn't the problem, send it back and exchange it for a new one.
Second, this rice cooker is the best because it cooks PERFECT rice, porridge, and stew each and every time. That's the one bonus of having a micom fuzzy logic rice cooker...rice porridge (aka congee or jok). Only the fuzzy logic cookers can cook porridge without burning the rice at the bottom and it's been perfect each time. And the Sanyo is the best priced fuzzy logic cooker out there. Also, I admit that I tend to be in a "hurry" most of the time to get dinner on the table, so I typically use the "quick" cook function. It cooks the rice in about half an hour, but the key is to use just a teeny bit more water (1/2 cup for 3-4 cups rice), to compensate for the higher/faster heat. But otherwise, if you are cooking using the normal settings, all you have to do is measure the rice with the included measuring cup, put the rice in the pot, fill the rest of the pot with water/broth to the corresponding line and perfect rice, porridge or stew will be ready in no time!
And finally, the nonstick rice spatula is truly nonstick and to not waste 1/3 cup of rice sticking to the spatula is great! The titanium bowl is great too...minimal cleaning...take a damp sponge, rinse and you're done! Simply amazing overall!

Nice size and shape, but started to split apart after first use.Like many large wood surfaces, a peel is made from several strips of wood laminated together. However, this peel developed a split after just one use. The instructions indicate maintenance is achieved by wiping with mineral oil, so perhaps you should do this before using the first time. I imagine there are heavier peels available which may be worth checking out.
I was rather dissapointed.
I was rather dissapointed.
Great value; follow the instructions for care and you'll be happy. When you purchase this item, make sure you either own or also purchase food-grade mineral oil, designed for conditioning butcher block and other wood kitchen implements. (I learned this by buying the wrong thing first: If the bottle says it's toxic or flammable, this is not the product you want! You can food-grade mineral oil online or possibly at your local grocery store.)
The peel will need to be treated with the oil before use. Don't substitute olive or other edible oils, as they will go rancid. Let the peel absorb all the oil it can (I did a few coats, rubbing it in with a paper towel). Then voila, you have a well-conditioned tool that won't dry out and crack. For the best care, as another reviewer mentioned, you'll want to apply mineral oil after you clean it each time.
This thing is big! My better half came up with a clever way of storing it inside one of our cupboard doors, as it's quite flat; I had thought to store it with the baking sheets, but its handle makes it a bit ungainly.
For the price, it's a great tool, and a little care will go a long way!

FANTASTIC!We looked in all the local brick and mortar stores for a quality holder with no luck.
Even though we were skeptical ordering online, this product far exceeded our expectations.
Do not hesitate, it is well worth the asking price.

Makes working in the kitchen so much easierThis is one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. I tend to do a lot of food preparation and having the knife holder makes it so much faster & simpler. I can see all my knives at a glance and choose the best one. Plus I'm not grossed out thinking of all the bacteria lurking in the knife block anymore.
Just what I wanted! This knife holder is sleek and has a really strong grip. It fits in the space where I wanted it and holds lots of knives. It is perfect for my kitchen.

Works great - until it eventually failsI loved this thing. So much so, that I ended up buying it several more times for my friends as a gift.
I filled it with olive oil and put a couple of cloves of garlic inside. With every pannini I made, I gave it a couple of pumps and easily sprayed garlic-infused oil on the bread for a crisp and flavorful pannini. Excellent.
Also for a salad - a couple of sprays is enough to give all the ingedients some essence of a garlic-infused olive oil dressing, without the amount of calories you'd get by simply pouring dressing on it. Great for a diet.
Problem though - it failed after about 4 months. Just started leaking and the nozzle stopped spraying a mist, but rather a drippy stream.
At least it's cheap enough to keep buying a new one.

Used hundreds of timesReceived as a gift - hundreds of uses since spraying only olive oil - works great but does clog on occasion.
Not Great but quite niceIt doesn't cover as well or evenly as store-bought cans of spray. But, it does a decent job and it is a spray. It isn't bad to load and does fair on the coverage. It will need to be spread doing a cake pan but, seeing I always forget to buy spray at the store, it will get a lot of use for that and other things.

Indoor BBQThe indoor BBQ is more like a slow cooker. It takes hours to prepare a meal. It is not made to cook hamburgers, hot dogs or steaks and does not provide the outdoor BBQ flavor. I would not recommend this product.
Another great Rival product. We have already made ribs and chicken and they were absolutely delicious. When they say the meat falls off the bones, they mean it.You do need an oven mitt when you lift the dome and lining the pan with foil works like a charm. This is one great appliance.
Crockpit BBQ The best ribs I've ever made. The next meal I tried was a roast chicken. It too was delicious. If you spray the unit with a no-stick spray before using, clean up is a snap. I am very happy with the Crockpit BBQ.

Great purchase!I recently purchased this and feel I got a good deal. The set is made from a popular, reputable company and the price was great - $89.99. I didn't realize it came with a simple utensil set, which made for an excellent surprise! The holes in the lids are very useful in draining. This would be perfect as a house warming gift or as a first timer's set. :)
Farberware Accents Nonstick 15-Piece Cookware SetThey are very good and they last a long time my greatgrand mother had left me two set of pans by farberware and before my long search for a good set of pots that wasnt to expensive.
I was thinking of other bands but I had remember that I had those two pans under my sink and they where in good condition and they cook great when I cooked with them food never stuck to the pans and they where easy to clean so decided to get the same band of pots there great and I love them.

Excellent Kitchen StuffI broke the forbidden rule of buying cookware for my wife on her birthday. I was tired of hearing her complain about how everything burns in some of her other pans. So I went out on a limb and prayed that I wouldn't be sleeping in the garage. When she opened her gift she was actually excited! So far it has been a nice addition and I haven't heard one complaint. This is a nice set of cookware for a very reasonable price and would recommend it to others.

Good coffee... but the machine has issuesI must agree with the others who have reviewed this machine that it does make very good coffee. However, despite making great coffee it is a very messy machine. After every batch of coffee I have to clean the inside of the flip top lid as coffee grinds back up and stick to it... yuck... nothing like wiping up wet mushy coffee grinds. Additionally, the water level gauge developed a nice green algae that I could not get rid of. I had the machine less than a year and passed it along to a friend as the maintenance was not worth it. Have reverted back to Krups to give them another try.
Best Coffee I Have Ever Tasted!!!After muddling around in the Department store coffemakers for years, I purchased this machine based upon the fact that I have a Capresso S8 Automatic Espresso Maker and enjoy it. This machine is truly amazing, making by far the best coffee I have tasted from a home machine. The carafe can leak when brewing if not aligned right, and has done so twice in 6 weeks, but if you know this and are careful to align it, no problems. Also, if you preheat the pot before brewing, the coffee stays hot for at least 4 hours. I recommend the carbon filters as well. If you want the best, you have to pay for it....so far after 6 weeks of daily coffee, we are both smiling every morning because of this machine.
Quality, Speed, Consistency - A Product That DeliveredGood brew quality, fast output, and operational consistency have set the Capresso apart for me.
Four brands of drip coffeemaker, priced from $30.00 to $170.00, held court on our counter.
Though easy to operate and making decent coffee when new, most developed output quality issues (despite cleaning) or operational problems (leaks, etc)within 6 months.
At 6 months and counting, the Capresso is going strong. It is the best drip coffee maker I have owned so far.
