Projection will fail after a year-too bad I loved the clockI am on my 3rd clock in 3 years and the projection has failed every time on each of them. Do not buy this product. Not worth it for having to replace it every year. When I bought it there wasn't much of a choice on the market. The first time it failed I thought it was related to me knocking it off the nighstand by mistake. If Oregon Scientific gets their act together it would be a great product. I think the great reviews are by people that haven't owned the product for a long time!! I was one of them!!
Packaging ruins the gift-ability I have one of these clocks. It did just crap out after about three years. I loved it though, and once you've had one you don't want to live without it. I've also bought many online and given them as gifts. They were packaged nicely in a glossy board box. I just ordered another from Amazon to replace mine, and it is now packaged in that hard clear plastic shaped to fit the product (which comes out as an odd shaped package) that you can't open without shears. It really cheapens the look of an otherwise kind of cool item. I've given a couple as wedding gifts, they were priced so I could afford them (not as cheap as the 49.95 here, but...) and they could be elegantly wrapped. These are now packaged the same way as a 5.99 Star Wars Action figure. I wonder if the product inside is made more cheaply as well. They didn't last that long anyway, so is that why the lower price?

Great clock, just can't see it in the dayI really like this clock. Everything worked just as advertised. The auto time, remote weather, and projected display all worked great. In fact, the projected display worked all the way across my room with great clarity!
The only about this clock is I cannot see it when there is light in my room. When I wake up after sunrise, I have go to the clock to see what time it it.
When I walk through my room, I cannot glance over and see the time or the weather.
Because of that, I returned the clock and am still in search of the "right" clock for us.

Excellent Clock for the priceI purchased the WT-5442U based on the fact that it had the least amount of negative reviews at Amazon. And yes, I am very happy.
Put the batteries in the remote sensor, connect the clock to the power and don't push any buttons for 10 minutes. That's the entire set up! Of course, once you get the clock time, you need to adjust the timezone, and the alarm time. The usage is very intuitive. Most things I figured out in 10 minutes by myself. 10 more minutes over the manual and I knew everything there is to know about this clock.
This clock does a lot for the price and it does it right.
Things I didn't expect, but are pleasant:
1) you can adjust the snooze time
2) alarm 1 wakes you up, but if you are strong sleeper, it gets louder after 30 seconds.
3) adjust to 12/24 hours. Although the Celsius and Farenheit degrees are adjusted to that. European vs. US?
4) easy and intuitive to use
Things that could be better
1) projection only works if it's dark. It could be stronger for my sight. But it works.
2) projection arm only moves forward and back. No swivel. I don't know if any of the clocks swivel anyway. But again, no big deal.
3) like everybody else, I would like the blue background to stay on all the time. But that's not an option. Plus the blue makes a very fine buzzing noise. I wouldn't want that anyway.
All in all, this is a great clock. The price value performance ratio is excellent.
Well done.

Neat, techy, sophisticated....Really like this clock. Everything worked like it was supposed to, and the time projects perfectly onto my ceiling at night. Guaranteed to impress anyone who sees your room at night. The weather predictor is amazingly accurate. It always turns out to be right. I like the temperature features because I know exactly when I can open my window and get fresh air without being frozen or roasted to death. The atomic update feauture is equally impressive (though most people wont think much of it, at least you'll know that you're always right on time!). Its a great clock, I highly reccomend buying it.

Very disappointing.Problems:
1. Remote unit doesn't work--despite repeated attempts, following directions to the letter.
2. Controls are not intuitive, to say the least.
3. Laser is not bright enough for ceiling use.
4. Doesn't sync to NIST.
5. Annoying instruction manual.

Not ImpressedThis clock did not suit my expectations. Yes, it did update the time on it's own and reports the temperature in Northern California properly.
However, the laser is very hard to see, if impossible, until the sun goes down for good. Past 8AM, I have to strain to see the image if it's projected less than 2 feet from the clock. If it's on the ceiling, forget about it!
Plus, they didn't include a constant backlight for the LCD display, so it's all but impossible to know what time it is once the sun starts to rise.
Unless you're awake before sun-up every day, don't waste your money.

Beverly M. Camper Thermometer ReviewWorks beautifully. Easy to install. Packed securely and arrived quickly.
PRECISION AT IT'S BEST! YOU'LL LOVE THIS CAREFREE DEVICE!I absolutely LOVE my Oregon Scientific RMR112 Cable-Free Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Clock. I bought an extra module and placed it upstairs in the house. Now, I can monitor my two-zone heating/AC, as well as get the precise temperature inside and outside. I placed the Indoor master unit right next to the back door kitchen so that I KNOW how warm/cool it is outside before I actually venture out. Installation is as easy as putting a couple of screws in whatever surface you're going to attach it to and sliding it on.
Oregon Scientific RMR112 Outdoor Thermometer So far, so good. Had another like this and it lasted for years. Hope this one does the same. We can't get along without one, it seems, since our drive is a long one down a steep and winding hill. Just a few degrees matter as to whether ice forms or not.

Generally nice unit(Funny how the price of this likes to flucuate, I got it here only a couple days ago and it was a couple dollars more.)
Anyway, this is a decent unit for the money. I actually bought two, when I only needed one. Why? For the second remote sensor. When another unit that includes a remote sensor is only a few dollars more than the only lone remote sensor available, it made perfect sense! lol
My only gripes are: The units just can't find an atomic clock signal here (NJ) for some reason (one finally did after 2 whole days, but the next day it can't again, so I guess it depends on favorable atmospheric conditions? *); the barometer of the two units won't agree (one is spot-on after setting proper altitude; the other is way off at same altitude setting - so I guess the altitude setting is really just a general calibration); and the backlight stays on for only 4 seconds (not 8 as stated in the manual!).
Otherwise, even with its funky off-center design (because of the sliding cover), it's a nice looking unit with decent features that gives you the weather info you want the most. Plus how it rotates the display for the remote sensors is handy.
(* Seems more likely to find the atomic clock signal -- and strong level too -- on overcast days, so it does seem that atmospheric conditions affect it much like ham radio I guess. Also the unit's location around other electronic devices may affect success as well.)

Nice unit, especially for the money.I set up the included remote on my back deck at the other end of the house from the base. There are three walls between the remote and the base, yet base picks up the signal perfectly. Just read the directions before starting. The atomic clock didn't find a signal for the first few days but finally I did pickup a signal (I am well over the recommended range of 930 miles or so). You can set the clock up manually if needed, and it's very easy to do. I love seeing both the indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity without switching modes.
My disappointments so far are few. 1) The unit runs only on batteries and manual says no rechargables. There is no ac adaptor option. 2) The backlight only stays on for a few seconds and it really isn't long enough to see everything. It would be great if this were configurable. 3) To change batteries in the remote you must unscrew three tiny, recessed screws so make sure you have a small phillips head screwdriver handy.
Overall, I am very happy with this unit, especially when you consider the price. I was prepared to spend a lot more to get a high end unit that shows both indoor and outdoor temp and humidity at the same time but they just aren't out there.

Dumb clockRice cooker is all that everyone says about it.GREAT!!!
With the one exception. The military 24 hour clock that can't be changed.I don't want my rice at 1700 hours. And oh yes the battery that runs the clock can only be changed by Zojirushi.

Not bad...I've had this for about a week now, and used it a couple times a day (to explore the features). It makes pretty good rice, but you have to realize that at this price point, you are paying for more than that.
Here are things with which you can justify spending $135 on a rice cooker:
1) Cooks brown rice well.
2) Steams food
3) Useful for things other than rice. This includes breakfast, oatmeal, and goes as far as stir-frying in the pot.
I realized how big #2 was when I got the "Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook" everyone was talking about. A low-tech rice cooker can be used to steam vegetables and meat by eye, watching through a glass plate, or at least controlling with a timer. This one cannot (although I haven't tried doing this on "keep warm"--perhaps it would work.)
I did a lot of research, and when I found a bargain price for the ZCC, I jumped at it over the Sanyo ECJ model, which I was holding about equal. Now I wish I had gotten that one--it has a manual mode which this lacks and a steaming tray for convenience. Really, most rice cookers >$100 will make the same rice (brown rice excluded? I don't know enough yet). But it is the extra things you can do with it that should justify your purchase.

Not Reliable, Sometimes it works and Sometimes it doesn't!I have had this unit for over 2 months now. The outdoor thermometer is less than 15 feet and 2 walls away from the indoor station. And still, it can't read the signal for the outdoor temperature, on a regular basis. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I always get the date, time, indoor temperature and the so called "forcast" and of course, the barometric air preasure and its 24 hour history, blinking at me (who cares?) but NOT the outdoor temperature and humidity. Sometimes it will work for a day or two and then suddenly it stops working and there are dashes, where the information should be. This unit is not reliable! I bought the more expensive unit, thinking it would give me more information AND be more reliable... but it's not!
Also, the layout of the information is less than ideal. Isn't the information you want most, the outdoor readings? Well, it's at the bottom. The entire face of this unit is 6 1/2 inches tall and and outdoor info. is exactly one inch of that face. Plus, they put a smiley face or a frown face icon, to tell you the "comfort level" (the combination of heat and humidity) for indoors but NOT for the outdoor readings. I think, I know when my home is comfortable. But how about telling me, when I am getting ready to go out?
Then the so called "forcast". A Sunny icon, if it is improving (not that the weather will be sunny). A Rainy icon, if it is getting worse (not that it will rain). And finally, a Sun with a Cloud icon, if it is going to stay the same (not that it will be sunny with clouds). A lot of bells and whistles that don't really mean a thing, if you ask me.
My suggestion is, buy a cheaper unit that gives you the basics. And if you are a real weather enthusiast and want a more sophisticated unit... this wouldn't be for you either.

2 out of 2 engineers think this is cool!I bought this for my father, who is an electrical engineer, and he was really pleased. He's always had a rain gauge and a barometer, so I felt this would be a winner. He spent part of a day figuring out the best location for the outdoor monitor. He especially likes the barometer history graph! My husband, who is an aerospace engineer, is mildly jealous that we don't have one of our own.
read instructions carefullyThis is a great item and works well if you read the instructions carefully!
Place the remote sensor in a logical spot with the understanding that any "micro climate" conditions of that location will be reflected in the readings you get. Read the entire manual to understand the displayed readings. The symbol of clouds with rain doesn't necessarily mean it's going to rain that day, only that conditions are likely to worsen!
Setting up multiple remote sensors, or setting up multiple stations that will get a signal from a single sensor, requires that you follow the instructions carefully or things won't work right! Don't freak out, just start again and follow the directions. Isn't it interesting that things work when you do what the instructions tell you to?
I write from experience here, this isn't a device that you can just slam batteries into and walk away expecting it to work. Yes guys, READ THE ENTIRE MANUAL FIRST! I can't say this too many times... read the instructions.

Overall durable, but some features lackingThis weather gauge does measure temperature and time accurately, however the weather forecaster is vague and we never know if the weather it is predicting is supposed to indicate the weather right now, later that day, or maybe even the next day. The unit suggests that the predictions are for 12 to 24 hours in advance, but this doesn't help very much when the weather is being volatile and we want exact predictions to prepare for weather that night or for the next morning. The weather forecast can also be extremely inaccurate, as the unit only has about five different weather settings and `partially cloudy' seems to cover anything from almost completely sunny to the verge of thunderstorms. On the plus side, the outdoor sensor has held up very well under heavy rain and the clock does an excellent job synchronizing itself.

Great ItemTalk about a great weather station at a great price! Very simple to set up (took me under 5 minutes to set up). Looks great and the remote sensor can be placed up to 300 feet away from the main unit (this unit can take up to 3 remote sensors). I highly recommend this weather station.

Great Crisp Large Atomic ClockThis is a wonderful clock. No need to set and adjusts automatically for daylight time. One tiny concern is the clock has trouble receiving signal inside a large building in the downtown. Laying it close to the window takes care of it, but it would be nice to have a better sensitive antenna for the time signal. Thanks, LaCrosse, I have only about half a dozen of your clocks. And keep up the good work.
Treat yourself to accuracy and convenienceOne thing which mystifies me is how few people have embraced the latest in modern clock technology: radio controlled clocks which keep exact time by automatically synchronizing themselves with signals broadcast from the incredibly accurate U.S. atomic clock in Boulder Colorado. Such clocks are not only always accurate to a fraction of a second, they also automatically set themselves to and from daylight savings and standard time as appropriate. Furthermore, such clocks are typically quite reasonable in price. Yet while most Americans have, for example, the latest in modern cordless phones and cell phones, relatively few have the accuracy and convenience of radio controlled clocks. This model is just one of many styles sold by Amazon and other vendors. Try one and I think you'll be glad you did. My wife and I have several of these clocks throughout our house and take accurate time for granted, no what time system is in effect.
sleek design and completely self setting and maintaining!I've had my La Crosse Tech Radio Controlled Atomic Wall Clock for 3 years now and I love it! Simply insert the battery, select the correct time zone on the back control panel, and then the clock does the rest. No programming needed, no need to even read the enclosed directions, this unit is fool proof easy. There's never any concern whether you have the correct time, and if other clocks in your home are slow or fast, you can set them all according to your La Crosse Atomic Wall Clock. This is a quality product, maintenance free, and very sleek design to blend with most any decor.
