The slots are easier to clean than some brands' holes but they are too large for skimming foam/crud from stock/etc. Instead, I use a small plastic mesh screen (about 6" long and [inexpensive] from the local supermarket) which fits neatly inside a deep stock pot--something that all the long-handled ones won't do.

The Calphalon skimmer gets occasional use stir-frying, but you do have to be careful since temperatures can exceed 400 oF. Also, I found that all the Calphalon tools tend to get a little "limp" when hot.

It melted in the first time I used it, and I just used it to get my dumplings.

We got this utensil free as part of a Calphalon promo when we purchased a set of their pots and pans (which we highly recommend), and I must confess that we get way more use from the other Calphalon products that we own than we do from this utensil.

The function of this skimmer is too specific to be used for anything other than skimming and it doesn't always do a good job of that. The size of the scoop is excellent, but the width of the slots seem to be too wide to productivly skim on a consistant basis. We sometimes use this for scooping pasta, but any regular slotted spoon can accomplish that just as well. If you want a good quality Calphalon utensil, try the very multi-functional "stir fry scoop", which I would rate 5 stars. We use that ALL the time!

I bought this turner and have been quite dissapointed. It seems to melt very easily (...). It is also very stiff making it hard to get under certain items (while flipping properly). I would definately recommend something else.

If you're concerned about what to use with your non-stick cookware, I'm pretty sure you know that resting your utensils on searing hot pans and pots is going to melt them. This spatula is actually alright, particularly with eggs and pancakes, but if you're looking to rest it on the edge of your pan while cooking, buy something stainless steel,[...], get a ladle rest, also referred to as a trivet in some parts. Giving a good product a low rating simply because it can't withstand 350+ degrees just doesn't jive...it is, after all, plastic. So, if you know what you're doing and you've got some nice non-stick pans you want to last, get this.

This is a very strong, sturdy cooking utensil! i recommend everyone have the entire set of calphalon utensils! They are safe with your (very) expensive cookware and work great!

It's not a slotted spoon, it's not a spatula. It will become the least-used item in your drawer.

This is one of our absolute favorite kitchen tools!! We have 5 of them and use them for just about everything. First thing we reach for when cooking (and my hubby is a very picky cook!)

The name of this nifty utensil is very misleading. This is waaaaaaayyyyy more than JUST a stir-fry scoop! In my house, this is the most often used utensil! Because of the rounded edge shape and the fact that the slots are only on one side of the scoop, this utensil functions on many levels simultaneously - spoon, strainer, scraper, stirer, etc. Best of all, because it is plastic (highly heat resistant, I might add!), it won't scratch your pots and pans!

This scoop came free as part of a promo with some Calphalon pots that we purchased a while back and I think we have probably used this more than the actual pot that it came with! For the price, you can't beat this. Add this to your holiday wish list or buy one for yourself "just because". Either way, you won't regret it!

I was looking for a fork to scramble a couple of eggs in the pan. I saw this, and just thought I might need it sometime. It turned out to be exactly what I needed for my eggs. Just a blessing, because I was stumped. A handy gadget.

I usually use this whisk when making eggs, and it works great! I usually rinse and stick it in the dishwasher, and so far I've had no problems with it. Highly recommend!

This whisk is basically for gravy and roux. Does even better than the oval whisk. It is true you have to use a large pan (10 - 12 inches) and large stock pots. However, when I make gravy or roux it usually is for a large crowd. It does have it's use in the kitchen, but you'll still need a round whisk. Two types of whisk in the kitchen are better than one. Even a tool workshop doesn't have one size and one type of screw driver. Depending on the task at hand, the craftsperson chooses the most appropriate tool for the task.

I was VERY disappointed in this item. I would actually give it 0 stars!! I tried turning a pork chop, a boneless chicken breast and even holding a baking bag open to pour contents into a serving dish and they wouldn't hold any of these things. I have thrown mine away and bought the locking metal tongs which I LOVE!!

I will save you the trouble, only buy these if you are using them on food that is the same size as a hershey kiss, they dont open wide at all. I have to open them with my hand just to get them around the food.

Don't know why anyone is complaining about these tongs?
They are great for Bacon, Chicken breasts, fryed potatoes, sting beans, grilled cheese sandwich etc.

You can't pick up a large Prime Rib with these, DUH!!
But find me a better Tong for bacon etc.?
Even my metal ones do not work this good..
Since I have Calphalon commercial nonstick, of course I use the nonstick type now.

I see that Amazon doesnt sell these anymore, but bed Bath & Beyond does.

I just bought this for my Daughter, who is the worlds worst cook, hates to cook, and truthfully doesnt cook very often..She really thinks that every Meal should be Catered or everyone should have a live in Chef (not a bad idea, Oprah does) lol!!..If they work for her, then they should work great for anyone...

If they break, I would take them back!
I don't put these or anytype of nonstick in the dishwasher.
