Expensive for a food processor
Fabulous!I've had 2 previous food processors - a Himilton Beach, and then the 7 cup Cuisinart which leaked (sprayed) if I was doing any sauces. This MP-14 is like Dorothy stepping out of her house into techni-color Munchkin Land!
It's simple to use, quiet, and powerful. The DVD that comes with it shows you how to make pizza crust (which is good because the cookbook doesn't explain it well). The 2-size-feeder tube option is great - now I can slice whole potatoes and still do a single carrot.
It also has a separate button/speed for dough and has a variety of recipes for breads. The motor is so strong you needn't worry about making whatever you want.
It is a sleek, handsome machine which really adds to my kitchen. The 14-cup capacity is perfect - I don't have to worry about making cole slaw or any other large recipe. I'm so glad I finally took the plunge and got the best of the best.
Enjoy!
A stellar performer from a stellar comanyThat original Cuisinart is still going strong, but resides with my daughter, now an adult and newly married. She laid claim to the Cuisinart somewhere during her high school baking and breadmaking phase, and instead of registering for a new model during her wedding, she happily absconded with mine when she set up her household and I took off for life in SW Florida.
After a year without my Cuisinart, and making do with a small, outdated Oster mini processor, I gave myself a Valentine's gift an bought the Cuisinart MP-14.
Why?
-Because I am tired of hand making the bread doughs I love to grill as pizza or flat bread over the open flame of our outdoor grill.
-Because I am tired of scraped knuckles and sliced fingers from hand graters and razor sharp mandolines when shredding or thin slicing veggies for slaws, tempuras, or Potatoes Anna.
-Because I like to grate hard and soft cheeses in bulk for adding to lasagnas, topping pizzas, or blending into savory shortbreads and hor d'oeuvre pastries.
-Because I like to make my own chopped pork and beef mixture for Swedish meatballs.
-Because I love the speed and ease of a food processor in making bread crumbs, apple crisp and pie crumb toppings, chopping chocolate and nuts, and mincing and blending large quantities of garlic or herbs for dips, herb butters and spreads, or pestos.
-Because my daughter also laid claim to my heavy duty KitchenAid mixer, and it looks like this whisk attachment is going to be fine for mixing cheesecake batters, whipping cream or putting the final whip finish on mashed potatoes, as well as frothing the egg custard foundations to chocolate mousses and flourless cakes.
-Because I believe in the Cuisinart product line, which has proven itself to me for decades. I believe my newest Cuisinart will to be worth every penny, and perform flawlessly and efficiently for generations to come!
-And because maybe, just maybe -- in the not too distant future -my new MP-14 will whip up even more wickedly wonderful batchs of baby foods!
Cuisinart - I love you, and I adore this new 14 cup heavy duty MP 14 with whisk attachment, bread dough mixing blade and the dough setting to prevent overheating the dough. You are making my Valentine's Day very sweet indeed!

DO NOT BUY THIS
Worse than you could imagine!THEN COMES THE GOOD PART: Since the Cuisinart was without warranty, I opened up the bottom. What a shock to my eyes!!!! I am an electrical engineer and have seen all sorts of quality problems, but this one takes the cake! It is not only shoddy mechanically, it is unsafe! Spills could kill! The motor is held in place with a PAPER tube... not cardboard, PAPER. The motor is not anchored to anything... it free floats inside this paper tube and rests on a rubber grommet at the bottom. Upon seeing this (I was hoping to salvage the motor for another project) I picked up the entire thing and threw it in the trash. A shame, because it truly does come with a nice jar.
Don't buy this. It won't last long, no matter what goes wrong. The good reviews for this item were from people who just got the blender and were thrilled with the first or second use, before it stripped the plastic drive gear, or rubbed the plastic stays away, or burned up or the motor fell loose and cut somebody to bits. This is an item that needs to be removed from sale.
Great so far!I give this a 4 star rating mainly because of the construction of the appliance. The "chrome" is shiny and plastic looking. It doesn't match the rest of my "Cuisinart Kitchen" of stainless steel appliances. And also, the plastic base of the blender, like many reviewers have already stated, is definitely a design flaw. I can forsee this plastic base being the downfall of this blender, hopefully NOT in the near future.

In a swivet over rivets. These pots come with a cover that seals if desired (using steam to form the seal). That's a plus, for further cooking process while the burner is off.
Another plus is that it heats evenly, and stays very warm even after sitting away from the burner for a while. (Five stars for this feature.)
The quality of the material is great and the pot is easy to clean in that it is made of stainless steel.
I do definitely like the weight of these Cuisinart pots; regardless of which line they're from. The Classic line is a bit heavier than the Everyday line. The Classic has a thicker bottom. (Another five star feature.)
But, it does have its flaws. The negatives have to do with the rivets, which are large to the point of absurdity. The rivets on a one and a half-quart saucepan, are the same size as those on this eight-quart stockpot. I was raised with riveted pots, and the rivets were never an intrusion back then. They were flatter and smaller, and they held just fine.
A very large, sturdy rivet makes sense with cookware that is designed to hold extreme weight. This pot simply isn't that big.
The rivets on the cover make it more difficult to clean because they stick up. The way they're attached on the outside of the cover is sloppy, and unnecessarily bulky. The outer fasteners holding the cover's rivets, catch on sponges and cloths, and irritate me no end.
In the case of this pot, one of the rivets leaks. Not only is it annoying, but it raises questions in my mind regarding sanitation. If it can leak, it means that small amounts of liquidy foods can plant themselves between the rivets and the interior side of the pot. That's not good.
Unless the level you're filling the pot is to be fairly low, the ingredients will probably have contact with the rivets. In the case of a stockpot, boiling at some point is usual, and contact is then, most likely inevitable.
I rarely use this pot. It doesn't hold a candle to the five quart Cuisinart stockpot I bought here. THAT pot is a dream. See the next paragraph for my rave (between the asterisks) about it.
This is not a cruel and unusual complaint, but a statement of fact. I am surprised that a company like Cuisinart would be so careless in design. *Another item, from a different line of theirs, the Everyday line, is the best pot I've ever owned, and that includes my Le Creuset ware. * See my review of that item for comparison, if desired.
Knowing what I do about this item, I would not buy it again. I got it here on special for under $30.00. A bargain price to be sure. But it sits in a cupboard untouched, because I simply hate the way it's made.
The handles get very hot. The handles on both the saucepot of this line, and the stockpot of the Everyday line DO NOT get hot.
I'm a cook of the old school. I always use potholders, no matter what kind of handles there are on cookware. Just a habit of mine, but it's a good one to cultivate.
There is one case where I will/do use this pot, and that is for making thick, dried bean recipes. It's very well made in terms of material weight/thickness, and the composition of the bottom, which is almost as good as cast iron, such as you, have with Le Cruset. For the purpose of slow cooking as with many dried bean recipes, it's fine.
If this pot were available in the Cuisinart Everyday line, I'd jump on it like greased lightning, and give this one to the Salvation Army thrift store.
As a postscript to this comment, I must say that these pots are covered by a good warranty, and if it were not so much of a hassle for me to return the pot that leaks, I'm sure I'd get another one from Cuisinart with no problem. If I had paid more for it than I did, I would go to the trouble of returning it. I do perceive Cuisinart to be a very reputable company.
My favorite piece of cookware
It's excellentI do a lot of cooking for a homeless shelter where cookware gets used and seriously abused and this pot has come through admirably. No hot spots, very even cooking and it cleans up beautifully. I do wish that it had a spaghetti insert, but I found one that fit at a Salvation Army thrift store and now the pot is truly multi-purpose.
I recommend this pot highly.
