Very disappointed in this Cuisinart product. We have owned this blender for about 3 years. If I had to do it again I definitely would not buy this blender. First, it is very loud. The timer quit working and the band rivets around the jar are rusty. The only things I like about it are that it is easy to clean and the jar is nice and big. Other than that don't waste your time.
Heavy Duty & HeavyI was skeptical when I purchased this blender after reading the other 35 reviews here at Amazon. I picked this up at a local retail shop because I had a gift card which made this blender only $52 ($102 normal retail price). Got home, plugged it in, and made my first frozen berry smoothie.
I smelled the same "burning rubber" smell that others have commented on and having worked in construction for a couple years can say that is the smell of a powerful electric motor. I smelled the same thing using electric drills. This is a 600 watt motor... not the cheap motor you get with a $35 blender.
The blender is heavy. The glass jar is thick and heavy as well. I'm a guy so I don't mind the lifting of this weighty behemoth, but if weight is a consideration for you just keep that in mind before you purchase.
The blender crushes ice like a champion, frozen fruit is no problem. With any blender put your liquids in first, followed by you softer items and heavy (ice like substances) last.
The mouth of the jar is wide and it can be tricky when pouring out your liquid but its not all that bad.
The metal blades are sharp and thick, good for chopping up those ice cubes and frozen strawberries.
I like the clean simple buttons and interface. Has a handy count up digital timer to let you know how long you've been blending.
Overall I am very pleased with this blender and would not hesitate to purchase it again.
PRO: Heavy duty construction and motor, powerful. Large capacity. Simple button configuration.
CON: Heavy. Pouring of liquids from its wide mouth might prove challenging if you're not careful.

Very PleasedThe motor is very powerful and the blender does a great job! The first couple of times I used it, it did smell a little rubbery, but that went away or perhaps I'm used to the smell. The jar is 50oz so it is pretty big, thus, the whole thing is a bit heavier. The drip spout isn't dripless like it claims, because it is a bit smaller than normal spouts. However, the blender does a great job mixing and crushing ice without leaving chunks, which was the most important feaure to me. I agree the timer feature is bit questionable and I haven't bothered to figure out how to use it, because who would use a timer when using a blender-it usually only takes a few seconds anyway

not what you expect! As a person who wanted to get a long life out of some nice dry measures, I thought I'd buy the cuisinart metal set - after all, the company makes a lot of quality kitchen stuff. WRONG CHOICE!!! The first time I used these today (to gently scoop and measure flour for bread), the thin handle bent. If you had these for a long period of time, such bending would probably cause the handle to break clean off... A huge rip-off, you'd be better off buying a plastic set at a dollar store. I plan on returning them!!!

Do NOT buy thisThe blender part that holds the blade broke the second time I used it to crush ice. The food processor part works ok, but the major problem is it's extremely loud. It's beyond the pain level. It's so loud, I have to use hearing protection or my ears are ringing for 15 minutes afterwards. It's louder than my circular saw.
Do Not BuYI got this item as a wedding gift. I used the food processor almost daily until it broke down on me. I emailed and called Cuisinart and got no response. The blender, however, works great. This is a great product to save counter space but it is not a reliable product.
Beware-good while it lasts, but...I was generally pleased with this blender. I used it about 4 to 5 times a week to make smoothies and I occasionally used the food processor for chopping vegetables. Just as other reviewers have written, it would leave an occasional lump of unblended fruit when I made a smoothie, but it was not unbearable-perhaps a blender with a narrower base would blend better if you're looking to liquify solids. It is also very loud, but again, not that big a deal. The real problem, very similar to others who have written reviews, is that after about 1.5 years of usage the black plastic disc that turns the blade began to disintegrate. Plastic shavings covered the entire blender after each use and it began to make an awful whirring noise, as if the motor were spinning but not the blade (which was in fact what was happening). If you purchase this blender you might consider buying the two year warranty/protection plan, because this seems like a fairly common problem. As for me, considering I put the blender through a lot of use, I think I am simply going to look for a different brand of blender.

Cuisinart rocks!!I very thoroughly researched all the nonstick hard-anodized products out there and decided on Cuisinart because it had the most vesatile product selection. The 5-1/2 quart saute pan is the bomb!!! It heats faster, cooks faster, and clean-up is a breeze. The first time I used it, I cooked a stove-top dish I have cooked many times, but because the hard-anodized cooks faster and hotter, I neglected to turn the heat down to accommodate this and the whole meal was burned and I thought to myself, Oh, great! the first time you use the pan, you ruin it by burning the pan. Well I took it to the sink to pour out the remnants that were not burned and had anticipiated that I would have to soak and scrub the pan and when I tipped the pan the entire burned mess just slid out of the pan and it looked as if it had never been cooked in. What a pan!! I LOOOOOOVE this cookware. I bought every piece that Cuisinart offers in this line. BUY IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!
My favorite pan!Super easy cleanup, no scrubbing at all. Great size so you can easily make for 2 or more. You won't find a better pan at a better price. Just buy it already!
What a pan!!I ordered this pan with my family of 5 in mind!! To go from stove to oven is great!! I did burn cheese in it, and it came off in a whole piece!! No more scrubbing burnt or caked on foods anymore. I love this pan so much I ordered the 3 1/2 quart also.
