Oxo Review Not worth the money!!
The OXO Grind It set left me very disappointed. To start with the packing of the product for shipping is very bad. One jar in the bake set was broken and two jars of the basic set were broken. After using the rest of the spices in the remaining jars, I found that they tasted very old and had to throw out the dish that I had made because of the old flavor of the spices.
The concept of only needing one grinder for four different spices is a good one but the product does not meet expectations. Examples: The product description states that you can select the measurements you need, tsp, tsp etc. The measurements are not accurate nor does it state how many times you need twist to get that amount. My second example is that to take the grinder attachment off of the glass base is a bit frustrating. You always end up with a lot of the last spice you used in the grinder, so you waste the spices when you shake it over the garbage can trying to remove it.
I have a similar product to this that is a white ceramic grinder with a glass base. You buy them with out the spices but they have never let me down. You also know that the spices are fresh. My recommendation is that you look at other products before purchasing the OXO Grind It set.

Oxo Review Great idea, but not with these spices
This is a really good idea, and I hope the other sets from oxo work well. We got this for a wedding present, and I used it successfully a couple of times. Then it jammed. Now it jams up a lot. It takes a lot of fiddling to unjam it, since it doesn't come apart. I don't think its the quality of the grinder. It seems well made. I think the grinder just cannot handle hard spices, such as cinnamon bark and allspice berries. Too bad, because freshly ground cinnamon is yummy. This same idea probably would work on smaller, softer seeds, like fennel, cumin, coriander, etc.

Oxo Review The best grinder mechanism on the market--at any price!
Like a lot of people, I've spent a lot of time and money trying to find a spice grinder that meets a new simple criteria for quuality. Here's what the OXO grinders do well:

1) Grind whole spices. It seems simple, but a lot of [costly] grinders do a terrible job of grinding. They might look good on the table or in the kitchen, but who cares if you're getting chunks of unground pepper in your salad?

2) Clean up. I use my OXO grinders in the kitchen for cooking. They get dirty and one of my pet peeves with most grinders is that it's impossible to keep them clean. OXO did a marvelous job making sure they used materials and a design that actually promoted cleaning.

3) Adjust fineness quickly and easily. Without question, these grinders have the smartest adjustment I've ever used. And the mechanism is ceramic, so it will not wear out like plastic or some soft metals.

4) Good looks. Frankly, I bought my first set of OXO grinders because they looked cooler than anything else on the shelf. Is that important? Well, yes. I now have a collection of about 25 of these grinders in full view in my kitchen and it is a source of pride that I have such a great looking grinder set.

5) Reasonable price. When you consider the high quality of the spices included with OXO grinders, they're an absolute bargain for the price. I wouldn't hesitate to buy these, because they (not the spices) will last for a good, long time and you'll get many times' your investment out of them in pure enjoyment and aesthetic value.

OXO grinders are superb and deserve all the good press they're getting. I highly recommend them!

Oxo Review Great product, bad price
I've been using the sea salt grinder for about 2 years now and love it. I received this in one of my Gold Box offers and was ready to buy for $25.49. Don't buy these here- go to oxo.com- only $15.00. Their shipping is $4.95+ but still cheaper than Amazon's price.

Oxo Review Kookin' Kondiment Set
One clever spice grinder works with interchangeable spice jars. A ceramic precision grinder produces fresh spices. This grinder has a little cap that measures what you grind and then after use seals the grinder from moisture, kitchen odors, etc.
Like everything else designed by OXO the design is an improvement on existing kitchen tools. I priced the spices in my grocery store and found that this set is comparable to buying the spices without the grinder. So it's a bonus to have all the spices and the grinder in one package.

Oxo Review Don't pay Amazon's price!
Go to Oxo.com and get any spice/grinding set..nothing for over $20..some only $15. Amazon has the clear salt and pepper grinder for over $34.00..get it on Oxo.com for $20. After checking out prices, most of Amazon's prices are much higher on these spice sets, almost double in some cases. NOT GOOD. The only good thing is possible free shipping on Amazon which you can wait for over a month and a half for items as I am right now...or pay the $4.95 on Oxo.com and get it much sooner. Your choice. :)

Oxo Review GREAT product.
I have all four sets and am totally satisfied. The grinding mechanism is ceramic, which is the only kind to have. When you have used up the spice you can refill the jars with the spice of your choice. The lables aren't printed on the jar so that makes the set very handy. Once you have used fresh ground spice you will never buy the bits of tasteless cardboard you find in the supermarket!

Oxo Review Good design and price; poor quality
I bought this exact item at a local retailer and was very excited as I'd decided to use as many whole spices as possible and grind as needed so the flavor is more true than already ground spices.

The first item I tried is nutmeg granules. I had already partially ground the nutmeg pieces in a blender jar, but it wasn't finely ground enough; when I tried to use this grinder on the nutmeg, absolutely nothing came out; it all just got gummed up in the mechanism inside.

So I tried good old trusty peppercorns after washing (wait, it was actually very difficult to get all the nutmeg pieces out of the grinder mechanism, I had to "knock" them out, but still didn't get it all). The first couple grinds of peppercorns went smoothly enough, you can adjust the coarseness rather easily and there is a good range on that; so in essence the grinder mechanism worked to my expectations; however, the next time I used it, as I began grinding pepper onto the food, the whole top came off (as its supposed to when you're REFILLING it) and dumped peppercorns into my food.

Ever since, the top of the grinder jar has not fit tightly enough onto the jar, and I have to pay very close attention to making sure they both stay intact. Very poor/cheap design in my opinion.

Oxo Review they never sent this
i wish i knew how it should be rated..never received this item......looked good, five stars

Oxo Review Pretty much sucks
I really like Oxo items. I got the pepper grinder after years of needing one - I really wanted a metal Turkish Coffee Grinder which makes a GREAT pepper grinder, but they're too expensive and no one seemed inclined to buy me one for Xmas.

Sadly the pepper grinder is pretty terrible. It also fell apart on me, spilling peppercorns everywhere. Sure am glad I have wood floors so they could go shooting under every possible appliance.

That was when it was grinding, at least. Only a few months in and with light usage it just doesn't grind anything anymore. The peppercorns don't seem to make it into the grinding area except for maybe one every 30 or 40 seconds.

Oxo Review Fan of Oxo, But Not These
I like Oxo products. In general I find them to be efficient, well designed, and affordable products. But these salt and pepper grinders are another story. Let me count the ways.
1. Pepper grinder falls apart. These mills have the grinding mechanism on top. You turn them over and grind. Problem is, the 2 piece peppermill is so flimsy that twice now in 2 months, after grinding and trying to shake off the excess, the mill has fallen apart covering my plate, table, and floor with peppercorns. The mechanism that holds the 2 pieces together just snaps in place and is very insecure.
2. Top covers which must be removed. Being top grinders, there is a plastic cover which covers the unsightly grinding mechanism when not in use. The problem is, these are not flip top as they should be, they must be removed with 2 hands prior to each use. This is not very efficient. You can leave the covers off, but they are not exactly objects d'art that way.
3. Difficult to control salt amount. The grinding mechanism of the peppermill works just fine, however the salt mill dumps a pile'o'salt with each grind. It is very difficult to modulate the amount dispensed. I think this is a problem with salt mills in general because salt is a difficult thing to grind evenly. Just be forewarned, use this to apply salt while cooking, not to anything on a plate.
I think OXO has work to do on these before they are up to par with their other products.

Oxo Review They look nice & the price was right but....
I agree with the other reviewers who said the tops come off in use....particularly the pepper mill. I had peppercorns dumped all over my food, table & floor not once, but twice. You must be aware of your hand and finger placement before grinding. The salt comes out in a flurry too, more than expected...you only need one or two turns to get what you need. I guess they take some getting used to.

    Oxo Review Fortunately, A No-Brainer!
Being somewhat clumsy, I've managed to destroy every type of corkscrew out there...until now! The OXO is lightweight, easy to use on plastic or regular corks, and seemingly indestructible. Plus, the price is ridiculously cheap, so how can you go wrong?

Oxo Review Much better than the waiter version
I got this corkscrew and love it. It works everytime without a lot of difficulty. I used the "waiter corkscrew" and was not happy with it. I'm glad I found this one.
