I've always loved the taste of perked coffee but never owned a percolator. After much research I purchased the 4-8 cup farberware. It perked for 1-1/2 minutes then steamed for 4-5. The coffee flavored water was awful. Huge dissapointment. I sent it back for another...same thing. At least Amazon was a terrific return policy. I purchased a third at a department store...the same. I notice the on-line price has come down since then. Odd that the 12 cup is double the price. My guess is they're unloading the defective ones. Run, back to your drip!

Farberware 8 cup is the only coffee pot I've used for the past 33 years. I've loved it until recently. My previous pot began leaking coffee through the lid during pouring; I assumed it was getting old, so I purchased a new one in late October. I have the same problem with the new one. Also, the perking intensity is erratic. Every once in a while, it just stops. I have to unplug it for a few minutes and then replug. I'm disappointed that I might have to switch brands; I love the look and the coffee when it's working correctly.

i really like the design and the usability of this teakettle. it fits enough water for even bigger tea pots, has a lid to fill in the water and has a nice handling. the whistle is ok too. one note to the electric stove users (as me): the bottom is very thin and already slightly bulged. on the other hand it is even so thin that when you fill the kettle all the way up it straightens out the bottom. decide yourself if you are ok with that. on the positive side are still the nice design and a reasonable price ($40 would be a joke though).

The kettle looks great on the stove, and the water heats quickly. The tea is always just at the right temperature when it comes out. But... the whistle is VERY LOUD! The cats get quite frightened, which is kinda fun, but I find myself bolting over to turn it off to save my eardrums - or, I just wait in the kitchen until the water is ready.

Overall, I would probably get the tea kettle again, just because I really like the way it looks.

I purchased this teakettle to use with my Pasta Express. It is a very sturdy little kettle, and pours with accuracy.

We got this set one month after getting married, and guess what, it is the thing that we always wanted. It gives us the choices in pan sizes. and there are three more mixing bowls which come handy while cooking or storing left overs. The stockpots are wonderful, they are the used most of the times. The mirror polish is still intact, I think this is a wonderful thing that a newly wed should have. Its worth the price.

Positive points: Food doesn't stick to the pots/pans
You get varieties of sizes.
Easy to clean.
Looks smart.


Negative points: I feel the handles are little delicate, so we have to give support if the stockpot is completely filled
The mixing bowls are quite thin. Be careful while dumping it into sink

I have owned my 12 piece Farbeware set for the past 26 years. My mom's set is 37 years old. We both cook every day. Our sets were manufactured here in the states,(the factory used to be in the Bronx, NYC). They included a 1,2,3,4 and 8qt pots with 7 & 12 inch stainless steel frying pans. My sister has the present 10 piece set also with stainless steel frying pans and it was not manufactured in the states, she's owned hers for 12years.
Yes I can definitely say there is a quality difference from the present Faberware to the original ones made here. But I must say they are still a great product for the price.
They hold up to mishaps in the kitchen (leaving pans in the oven and turning the oven on with them in it, or leaving a pot on the hot stove until what is in it burns dry). Clean up after such incidents have still turned up the pots looking new. The outer stainless steel still has a great shine and I have never had to use any specialty products. They withstand the dishwasher but I still prefer to wash them by hand. I also own their 6qt (not made here) and 16qt stockpots.
I highly recommend this product to cooks just starting out because they withstand abuse and also cook very well.
I have recently purchased the "Calphalon One" line to add to my Farberware (my daughter likes to cook specialty dishes).
I will not be discarding my Farberware even after 26 years there is no reason to do so.

I bought it for $9.99 without looking carefully at the description or the picture. First time open it, I said "uh oh", it's just too thin. When I use it, it keeps sliding over the counter and doesn't give me the feeling of secure. Instead I was afraid of cutting the board in half. Anyway... that's my review, I do not like it and I'm stuck with it. Recently, I bought a set of 2 bamboo cutting board from Costco, and I immediately like it. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND this Farberware 3-piece of junk.

Nothing bad to say. They are just cutting boards. Although for the price you couldn't find a better set that is for sure.

I just ordered this item for a wedding gift for one of the many weddings that I will be invited to for this 2006 season.

This set will make a very nice gift when put with another gift item.

I'm pretty particular about my cutting boards and I know this isn't the fanciest one out there but for young people starting out, it will be just fine.

I received it today and looks good. and used it once. Its good but the product has minor defects, scratches and looks like a refurbished kinda thing. i dont htink i am going to return this item .. shall update the review about usage again

This is probably the worst non stick cookware i have seen/used. The coating started peeling off after a couple of uses. (Even though, we ensured that it is hand washed etc. and took good care and precautions).I would never buy farberware non stick cookware again...Complete waste of money and effort....

I love the price but am finding that the coating is starting to chip around the rim of the pots. Also, there is black circles on the bottom of the pot (the side that faces the burner). I am not sure if this is just decoration or not but this black material is also flaking away. Other than that, they are fine.

I've had two of these during the past year year. The first one lasted about three months, and the second one just died. Both were used only once a day in the a.m. The Farberware name used to be synonymous with quality. No longer. This piece of junk has soured me on all Farberware products. Caveat emptor.

Not as good as the original from the 50's...but not bad. My second faberware perculator is happier than the first, because It doesn't go in the dishwasher. Don't thow the old one away...use it for parts (if you buy a second one). These make good coffee fast, and keeps it at the right temp. Unless you don't mind drinking the sludge at the bottom use Melitta disc filters.

Before I bought this set, I had only a cookie sheet and sad 9x9" pan. Suddenly I could make layer cakes, small casseroles, and loaves of cranberry orange bread. Mmmm...

I love nonstick. It doesn't matter how long you leave it in the sink - it's still a snap to clean. I have noticed that after I used metal to cut a pan of brownies, I got some scratches that have turned a bit rust-colored. That's the only reason I'm giving this set 4 instead of 5 stars.

For me, it was great to get a set because I have a small kitchen and most of the bakeware stacks nicely in the compartment under the stove. The cookie sheet gets the most use and it hasn't warped at all. I'm very pleased!

I just wanted to add my 2 bits. I was pleasantly surprised when I received this shipment.
The box was attractive and heavy. Upon opening the box, I was impressed with the quality shown with the first pan removed.
This is a great buy! The pans are very attractive, heavy duty quality and store nicely in the compartment under the oven. I foresee myself buying another set to keep and would definitely buy as a gift.
As for the teflon, It makes my cooking come out great! Tastes great!

I bought this product...great price for the set. It does what the other reviews have said and includes those as well. I just wanted to mention that Teflon is not reactive when consumed so it will just pass through your system. And as for the fume that comes out of it at high tempertaure...most of us don't own ovens/stoves that heat up the pans 570F+ so no need to worry about the fumes (which causes illness).
I read one of the uneducated reviews below about Teflon being toxic and wanted to educate the public from facts....not personal opinion like the reviewer below.
