A tomato is one of the most difficult food items to cut correctly and this knife does a wonderful job. It is sturdy, has great balance and has a very nice edge. The entire Kitchen Aid line of these knives are excellent and very reasonalby priced.

When my husband and I first moved in together and merged our household 'holdings' we quickly realized that although we now had two of everything, the one thing we completely lacked was a decent set of knives. After much deliberation we selected this basic set of Epicurean knives from amazon.com (for a very low price, comparitively). Now that we have them, I'm not sure how we functioned before without them! Each knife seems to be well constructed, and is carefully balanced for optimal use. All the blades are easily sharpened on the diamond sharpener that ships with the set. The storage block has a few extra spaces that comfortably accomodate the few other salvageable knives we already had. An excellent set of basic knives for any kitchen - I have been incredibly happy with the addition of them to my own!

I ordered the knives at an unbelievable price at amazon.com and when they arrived, they were better than I ever would of expected. The knives have a very solid and sturdy feel when you hold them. The diamond sharpner is easy to use and creates a razor-sharp edge in seconds. The knives are very well constructed and cut through tough meat like it would through soft butter. The solid-oak storage block that comes with the set is very attractive and allows for three more knives to be added so one may customize their collection. I do not regret this purchase and I am looking forward to adding on to my Kitchenaid knife collection. This is a must for anyone who is looking for an excellent quality set of knives that will last for many years to come.
