Great ProductI was a little weary about buying a refurbished mixer, especially with the other reviews saying that there were lots of scratches. I was very pleased when I pulled mine out of the box. It looks just like new. I have only used it a few times, but so far so good. I love it.
Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid Artisan Series stand mixer My factory-reconditioned KitchenAid Artisan Series 5 quart stand mixer arrived in perfect condition (no scratches, chips, or dents) with all of its accessories. All parts fit together properly. The mixer worked flawlessly on the first try and has continued to do so ever since.
It is sturdy, very well made and a pleasure to use. I have no regrets that I bought a factory-reconditioned product. I would recommend KitchenAid factory-reconditioned products to anyone, and I do.

As good as a new Store Bought MixerI was a little leary about buying a reconditioned mixer. I opened it the only blemish I found was a little oil on the mixer, which was easily wiped off. There were no scratches and it looked absolutely brand new. I have used KitchenAid mixers before and this mixer is as good as any you could buy at a fancy store, but at a much better price. I have used it extensively and would definitely recommend it to others. It has never given me a moment's problem!

Hole to small - Metal not plastic. Can't use this stuffer. First, there was a sharp lip on the stuffer and I could not get the casings over it. When I finally did I had a hard time slidding the casing up because the plastic surface was to rough. The hole size was also to small. In my opinion the part should be made out of metal, which is smother. I ended up using my old hand crank unit.
Works great, but ask KithcenAid for the Wood StomperLove the food grinder, hate the new 1-piece stomper tool. You have to call the manufacturer to get a free wood stomper mailed to you which works better. They have gotten a lot of complaints. The plastic stomper is hard to use with the big end, plus, it sucks liquid back out of the grinder, causing the food to be dry.
Easier with the right infoSausage making is an artform. It can be difficult to get the hang of, but with the right info you can make wonderful, fresh sausage and feel good about the ingredients inside. This sausage attachment works pretty well. The hopper is a little small, but unless you are making a ton at a time, it's not a deal breaker. It's important to keep the meat really cold throughout the process though or the fat will melt and could hurt your mixer engine. I picked up The Mixer Bible which has about 35 sausage recipes along with 300 other recipes for the mixer and it's other attachments. I really like the book and it walks you through the ins and outs of working with all the attachments.

ExcellentIf you are a single person and want something that works for most things and doesn't take up the space of the large food processor, than this is the one for you. It is quick and quiet. I have chopped fresh tomotoes for sauce and fresh basil for pesto and it just works great. It is easy to clean as well.
Excellent machineBefore ordering, I checked through the users' comments that convinced me to buy this unit. I am more than happy with the performance of this product.
Kithchaid food processor gets 5 starsIt is so easy to use if you have trouble with you hands. The size is right for everyday use.I have had the other big brand and find this one is so much better to use.

KitchenAid oven thermometerThis oven thermometer has been the best I have ever owned. It is very accurate. I love KitchenAid products
very niceI trust kitcheaid so I didn't hesitate to buy this oven thermometer. I was not disappointed at all. it's sturdy and didn't fall over in the oven. I was having trouble getting my bread done in the center. My thermometer showed me that the oven was off. I adjusted it and it took care of the problem. It's a good products.

20 cents a day for this filterEasier to install than the old fashion one, that is for sure. But $35 for every 6 months? That is 20 cents a day!!!!! $70 a years, or $700 for the life of a 10 year refrigerator. How much did you pay for the refrigerator? You see where I am going........
Much less expensive than bottled waterJust purchased our Whirlpool Refrigerator that uses this filter. I just ran a total for our bottled water for 2005 and the cost was $1.41 per day so $.20 per day is cheap. The water from the Whirlpool is just as good as the bottled water if not better.
Superior taste, excellent performance -- for less than 20 cents a dayWIth all due respect to the reviewer who complained that the cost of 20 cents/day was unreasonable and excessive, this filter does an amazing job and is a fantastic bargain, **especially** when compared to bottled water and manufactured ice. We've had our new KitchenAid fridge for just a little over 6 months, and we've been delighted with the sparkly-clean, crisp, tasteless water & ice that this filter enables it to dispense. Especially since we live in a "hard-water" area, where the stuff coming from your tap, while acceptable, leaves a faint, gritty mineral taste. I used to "splurge" on store-bought ice several times/year for parties and special occasions, just because it tasted so much better. (Or rather, didn't taste like anything at all -- which is of course the point.) Since we've had this fridge, with this filter, I've never needed to spend extra on bagged ice OR bottled water, because the ice & water thru this filter are every bit as good. The acid test? I could fill a clean plastic bottle with the water from this filter, and let it sit at room temperature for a day or more, and it still tastes just as good warm as if it were freshly dispensed. That same exercise with our regular tap water would've resulted in a nasty, nose-wrinkling, mineral stew as soon as the chill was gone. Another nice advantage this filter has over bottled water is that it does NOT filter out cavity-preventing fluoride, whereas most (all?) bottled waters do.

Widemouth not useable for larger itemsOk, I don't know why none of the other reviews mention this since it seriously reduces the unit's usefulness.
It contains an idiot switch (presumably for safety reasons) in the large feed tube that requires the large food pusher to be about a third of the way inserted before the blades will operate. Once this is inserted, there is only a few inches of height left if using one of the shredding/slicing disks. What were they thinking???
When I bought this I figured it'd be great for shredding lettuce for tacos, slicing potatoes, etc. It just won't work for these purposes. I'm thinking of returning it.

Outstanding!I am a total kitchen gadget afficianado and must say that this food processor is one of the best kitchen appliances I have ever owned. I use it all the time and, liking it so much, subsequently purchased a Kitchen Aid mini-chopper as well. The only criticism I have of the product is that the plastic citrus attachment is rather fragile plastic and could break easily if dropped, but is nonetheless fabulous for making fresh-squeeze orange juice. Also, the plastic box that holds all of the blades and attachments lacks a hinge or any other feature to hold the lid in place. Apart from these two minor inconveniences, I can't rave enough about the quality of this food processor. I also really like the safety features that prevent the unit from operating if used inappropriately.
Kitchenaid convert!I love to cook and was given an original Cuisinart back in 1980. That machine was great and I collected an extra workbowl and all the optional blades along the way. When it died after 22 years of almost daily use I just replaced it with the updated equivalent without doing any comparison shopping. What a mistake! Most of the accessories I'd collected did not fit the new Cuisinart and the construction of the machine itself, particularly the lid mechanism, felt cheap and was difficult to use. Shredding was also bad, and every time I used it to grate cheese had to hold onto it to keep it from moving around the counter, but after spending money on it, felt stuck with it. Well, after three years, the crappy lid broke. After doing some comparison shopping this time, decided to replace the whole thing rather than buy a new lid for a machine I hated.
This Kitchenaid is a real workhorse. Picked it up at a great price too with gift certificates and an Amazon offer. It is MUCH sturdier than the Cuisinart, stays put when it is on. I've used everything except the juicer, the three different sized work bowls are nifty, and shredding and slicing are a breeze in comparison to my old machine. The wide feed tube holds a lot and the locking mechanism just feels so much more secure. As a dedicated food processor junkie, I highly recommend this machine.

Useful attachment for the KitchenAidThere are some pros and cons to this device, which is essentially a meat grinder.
1. It attaches to the front of the KitchenAid. Now, I am rather tall, and I have a larger sized KitchenAid. When you place the food grinder on the drive outlet on the front top of the unit's head, it stands up rather high. This means, if you are shorter and your counters are tall, you might need a stepstool to get up to the height of the bin to toss in your meat.
2. You need this device to operate other KitchenAid attachments. Even if you are a stone-cold vegan, if you want to strain fruits and veggies with your KA, you will have to put this device on first.
3. The blade looks a bit feeble to me; I have not had trouble with it, but I don't grind all that much meat for sausage (as I don't like sausage and I have a butcher.) For the occasional need, it seems fine.
You will need the sausage nozzle attachment if you intend to stuff your own Italian sausages or venison sausages; this was not included with this unit.
Overall, I would rate the KA attachments a kind of "second-best" solution to various tasks. The pro is you have one item that does most things with a set of attachments. The con is it doesn't do the job as well as a dedicated unit might. Since I only occasionally want to grind turkey or other things, I find this a good solution, but I'd think twice if home sausage production were a frequent task you wanted to do. Also, I had a plastic Italian grinder that attached to the counter. I was happier with it because the plastic was easier to clean than the metal. Just my opinion; this is fine for most applications. Just don't expect restaurant supply quality.

Wonderful accessory for the KitchenAid stand mixerI am a pretty serious home cook, so I might get more use out of this device than most, but I love my meat grinder attachment.
If you hate reading the labels on ground meat or prepared sausage to determine which brands are the lowest in fat and/or preservatives this product is for you. I love being able to control the amount of saturated fat that my family eats. I have used this to make ground salmon and ground shrimp as well as for poultry, beef and pork.
My new favorite application for the grinder is to use it to make "whole wheat bigoli". It is a type of fat Italian pasta. If you need a recipe go to the foodnetwork website and search for "Bigoli". I know at least one will come up under Mario's name. If you learn to love this machine and want to get more into the sausage making realm there is an excellent book "charcuterie" that you might want to check out. I have also reviewed that book on Amazon if you are interested.
The grinder attachment comes apart easily for cleaning. I normally take it completely apart and put it in a sink with hot soapy water for a few minutes before hand washing it. The directions tell you to run a slice or two of bread through the device to make it easier to clean but I don't find that necessary. I have had this device for approximately 15 years and use it on a regular basis. I have not had anything break, crack or become dull.
If you want to improve the health of your family by reducing fat and/or preservatives this is a great product to have in your arsenal. I highly recommend this attachment for any family that is serious about food and/or their health. I love my meat grinder.
