KitchenAid KPFP850PM Pro Line Food Processor, Pearl Metallic
KitchenAid Pro Line Food Processor
Simply The Best! Although a food processor is extremely versatile, I find my greatest use for it was its dough kneading capability. I wasn't about to spend $800-1000 on another Cuisinart DLC-X and longed for something that had the power and capacity of my former processor.
What should come along but the KitchenAid Pro Line model FPFP850PM! It is about half the MSRP of the Cuisinart DLC-X/DLC-XP. The product description on this website is inaccurate. The motor is actually 1000 watts, rather than the 950 watts stated.
It's truly a workhorse of a machine. It simply won't bog down under a heavy load.
I'm looking forward to KitchenAid manufacturing yet more blades for this processor.
I started out with the Pro Line Waffle Baker which I've owned more than a year now. It also provides perfect results.
Hopefully, one day I'll own all of the Pro Line appliances that I feel I would like to have.

Nice grillDepending on what you are cooking, the stainless interior can be easy or a pain to clean. I gave it four stars because I think a grill pan might be better served with a non stick surface. For a saute pan, and for reducing sauces, I like a stainless surface. It is much easier to see what is going on there than with a non stick. For a grill though, non stick properties are more important.
One reviewer wrote that he thought non stick was a scam, and that it goes away within a few months. Nonsense. That might have been the heads up on cheap supermarket pans 30 years ago, but a quality non stick pan today will last for years, and cook a perfect omlette, or grill a perfect fish fillet. Think about the job at hand, and choose the tools accordingly. A glance at the pans used in commercial kitchens, or those used by the wide variety of TV chefs is enough to let you know that there are some jobs that are tailor made for non stick cookware. Eggs, cheese, fish, and general grilling are among them.

Neat, but lower your expectationsI just used it again last night for making a Chocolate Sour Cream Bundt Cake. (A great recipe from America's Test Kitchen!) The recipe came out great, and I greased the pan as I should have (with butter and cocoa paste) and the cake popped out perfectly. The real drawback was that it took much more time to cook. I ended up baking it (nearly twice as long) for an ADDITIONAL 40 minutes - beyond the 45 minutes it should have taken!! I'm not sure if it's that the silicone is somewhat insulating or what. So anyway, the pan works well, but the cooking time may vary from the recipe.
And yes, put it on a baking sheet to control the wobble while placing in the oven, and to aid in removing from the oven.

Innovative, looks great, woefully impracticalFor those of you like me who have and love the superb and unbeaten KitchenAid stand mixers, this device and the rotary grater are not in anywhere near the same quality and usefulness league.
Another cheese grater of no value to me.

Don't buy appliances from Amazon!!!!!!
Great unit with problems but an excellent warranty. The espresso is about as good as it gets for an under $2k boiler and yes we are pickly coffee bean snobs.
Since we do not usually tollerate these kind of problems we addressed the "how can you afford to do this" question with kitchenaid and they have assured us the problems have been fixed with new models being shipped June 06.
We would HIGHLY recommed these kitchaid products even though our espresso maker is dead waiting for our new one to arrive some time in June.
Terrific espresso machine!

No mechanical problems, but there's just no oomph!
good for cookies, not for egg whites or creamBut I can't get it to really whip egg whites or whipped cream. They will eventually start to look right, but stay a bit on the runny side. I think the thin blades on the beaters just don't get enough air into the mixture.
I'm thinking about just getting a cheap hand mixer with thicker blades just for cream and egg whites.
I wish this mixer came with a whisk attachment or something -- then it would be perfect.
Great

Use according to instructions!
Works fine, but be carefulMy citrus press came with my 11-cup food processor and it came with a lever arm that protects your fingers. Occasionally, I use mine without the arm and sometimes I hurt my fingers, sometimes not. You have to be careful and pay attention to what you are doing. This beats a separate appliance any day and it is dishwasher safe.
If you buy the attahcment from the Kitchenaid site, you have a choice in buying one with or without the lever arm. The lever arm is $10 more, but I think it is worth it.
Love It!!!
I recently had to buy another food processor and saw KitchenAid had the "Tim Taylor" version of my previous model. I am quite disappointed with it and don't think it is worth the $450 I paid.
It is massive! Eats up counter space.
The shredder disk only comes in a 4mm version which I don't like for grating carrots or other similar vegetables. It is too coarse. They also didn't include reversible disks so you could increase your shredding options as you can with its smaller counterpart model.
When using the chef's bowl and the shredding disk, the outer bowl gets dirty on the rim so you still have to wash it. When grating carrots this is not good! Carrots stain the plastic so you end up washing two bowls.
Large pieces of carrots get lodged between the disk and the cover so you have to open the cover and remove the food.
I haven't used it extensively but I have contacted Kitchenaid and expressed my dissatisfaction.
Bigger is not always better
