Cutlery Review Cheap, all-around. OK Starter Set.
For 19.99 this is an "OK" starter set of knives. The blades are all serrated so you don't have to worry about sharpening them. They are EXTREMELY sharp. The set looks amazing out of the box. HOWEVER, after washing the knives only one time, the black handles are fading badly. The once pure black handles are now a faded, and "used" looking black. The blades on 4 of the larger knives are rusting BADLY. They look horrendous after only one wash in the dishwasher. It's obvious that the grade of Stainless Steel they are using is extremely poor. It's a shame because at a glance these look like fantastic knives. Heavy duty, thick blades, full tang, beautiful block, etc... I would save my $20 and go elsewhere. Unless you want to take a shot at hand washing and hand drying them every time you use them.

Cutlery Review Sabatier is a SUPERSTAR
I bought this attractice cutlery set about 2 months ago. I am extremely pleased with the quality of this set. Use of the utensils has been made easy by their ergonomically correct handles, the high quaulity steel blades are sharp and ready for any project. I am very particular about my paring knives and the one included in this set is now my favorite one. Overall this is a great value for the money. The only con: they are not meant to be put in the diswasher. (I'm a little lazy) The steel blades are fine, but the handles tend to discolor a little. I love this set so much, I bought another to store for that day that I lose or damage a first piece. :-)

Cutlery Review sharp, light, and cute and a nice price but no substitute for the real thing (in my case a shun)
I have the Shun Classic lines Santoku which cuts like a dream 6 months since I bought it. That knife's weight helps it glide effortlessly through piles of vegetables. We are vegetarian & love our veg, I prep and cook literally lbs of veg a day, bought this to try since the price was right and so many reviews were positive, and I wanted an extra one when I did not want to wash up between the onions and the apples or whatever.

Well I'm disappointed. It IS sharp, and works, but the very weightlessness prevents it from working like a good Santoku should -- you can just rock to effortlessly slice. Also slicing plantain bananas stained the blade badly, am afraid to scrub heavily since the resin coating looks delicate. So I will bite the bullet and pick up a great set of Shun knives, because with THIS one, my hands ache after a couple of handfuls of beans from the effort and I still have 10 handfuls to get thro... Might be an option for an older person who cant hold a heavy knife. So yes you would add an extra digit to the price by going for the real thing, but a good knife is SO worth it. It was also more sticky than my un scalloped shun, so the scallops didn't seem to be working either. I am not returning it since my M-I-L can't hold a heavy knife, and still likes a big knife so that might be a situation in which you buy this. I would also recommend that you pass on the henckels, wusthof, sabatier etc since I've spent literally thousands of $ on them and have not been as happy with them as with my single shun knife.

Cutlery Review Review of Komachi Santoku Knife with Scallops
I have a set of Wsthof Grand Prix (7 knives). It does not include a Santoku knife. So, I preordered a Komachi Santoku knife with scallops for a try. After waiting about two months, I finally received my knife from Amazon. I was surprised and somehow disappointed when I saw this knife. This knife has a purple pink color. It is very cute and looks like a girl's toy, not a cooking knife. So I let it sit for days without touching it. Until one day, I met a chef at a local grocery store, she used Komachi knives and highly recommended them. So I thought at least I should give it a try. I tested the purple knife side by side with my favorite Wsthof 6" chef knife for cutting cheese and potatoes. These two knives are very similar in size. However, the Komachi knife is significantly lighter in weight and thinner in blade than the Wsthof chef knife. After testing, I was very surprised! I usually use a utility knife instead of a chef knife for cutting potatoes to prevent foods from sticking. I found that the resin coating and scallops for the Komachi knife really prevented foods from sticking. I can cut cheese and potatoes much faster and effectively than using the chef knife. In addition, the Santoku knife can slice foods thinner than the chef knife. Right now, I still use my Wsthof knives. I use this purple knife for cutting foods that stick to the blade. If you are thinking about buying an all-purpose or a vegetable knife and do not have strong expectations about what a good knife is supposed to be (such as a knife's color and appearance), this will be a good knife for you. I highly recommend it.

Cutlery Review An amazing knife
I bought this knife as a replacement for a cheap one that we used for years but was finally too dull to keep. After using it, I can't figure out why I didn't buy this a long time ago. It's fantastic. The handle grip is terrific, you get great leverage and the blade is wicked sharp--it's almost scary. I own both Henckels and Wusthof, and to me the Wusthof is definitely the superior blade. I highly recommend this knife.

Cutlery Review Absolutely Incredible
Warning: Prepare to waste a lot of bread! This knife will make you slice bread just for the fun of it. The weight of the knife alone is enough to cleanly cut even the thinnest slices, from any kind of bread.

Forget about buying sliced bread. Slice your own!

Cutlery Review I'm cookin' for a livin'...
One of my young ones received this as a gift and when it arrived at work we all just HAD to give it a try. We bake all of our breads from scratch and our crusty loaves surrendered meekly to this blade in two strokes no matter which recipe we attacked...it even sliced our house "Wonder Bread" sandwich loaves cleanly! This 9 inch is sooo much more versatile and heftier than the 8 inch ...size really does matter.
I'm biased against all Wusthof "Classic" knives...I think that they're too light weight and small scaled (the grip is too narrow for me) but...
I bought TWO of these for myself 'cause this is the BEST bread knife that I've EVER used although I highly recommend the "Grand Prix" line for it's better "grip".
Biased or not I'm still loadin' dis bad boy up wit tha MAX ...5 mojo*z! HAZAAH!!!

Cutlery Review My Son says its the best knife ever!
I sent this knife to my son who is a baker by profession--he loves this knife. It doesn't mash the bread and cuts through crusty crusts! I higly recommend it to anyone.

Cutlery Review you like bread?
if you like bread and don't cut it 24h hours a day, buy this knive instead of the 4 star version.

why?

- the twin select are nice sharp knives
- it is a bread knive, you don't use it so often like a chef knive!
- the handling is fine
- it's cheap

I own 2 twin selects and 4 4 stars. And must say the handling of fourstar is better and you want to have the filet knive or chefs knive from this series, or better some japanese knieve ( way sharper, but hard to maintain, I'm lazy), but for cutting bread, go with this one, the handling is not so important for cutting bread, and it does'nt squeeze my ciabatta or french bread!

Cutlery Review Nice slicer, easy to clean
I bought this slicer to actually use at my restaurant. We have a very tight budget so we couldn't buy the big commercial units. I was concerned it couldn't handle the load but it performs really well. It's a little bit of a pain to hold the button down but it is a safety feature as well. I cut enough meat for the week in about an hour. The BEST part of the slicer is it is so easy to clean. The blade removes in one twist and I can store it at "O" so no one can possible cut themselves.

Cutlery Review EASY to use and clean!!
Highly recommend. Very easy to remove blade and clean. Easy to operate. Worth the money!!

Cutlery Review NICE!
I am so picky about my knives---I want Wusthof but the price.....I've tried Henkles and other less expensive brands like Miracle Blade etc. but KitchenAid never fails to please me. The first time I used my new knives I was cutting pockets into partially frozen pork chops and ended up needing 6 stitches in my thumb! I do wish I had one more serrated blade, but other than that A+

Cutlery Review Kitchenaid
Love it--fits on my counter and is a great addition to my red Kitchenaid kitchen

Cutlery Review Maroon and Marooned
I was a little dissapointed when I opened the box to discover that the set was not actually bright red, as appears in the photo, but a dark red to almost maroon. The knives themselves are of pretty miserable quality. The shorter knikes are okay, but the longer knives are thin, flexible, and don't hold a sharp edge. Save your money and buy just one or two good knives.

Cutlery Review Red Hot Knife Set
I really love this knife set. Especially the rotating carousel factor. Also the wood block is not as hygienic, this model is easy to clean and keep disinfected. If you have the pot set, this will match your kitchen perfectly.

Cutlery Review best knives on earth.... can be used to operate
This things are sharp.... the metal is so high grade that when the blade goes dull, a small effort is needed with a honning steel to make it sharp as new....

The blade is thin enough to make precision cuts and strong enough to cut cartilages and bonelike parts

they last a lifetime... grest materials and design

handle is nonslip and the knife is well balanced....

Cutlery Review Excellent Knife
I received this knife as a gift maybe six years ago by a friend (a chef) who complained about the lack of good knives in my kitchen. It is by far the best knife I have ever owned and the standard by which I make new knife purchases. It's currently the only name I absolutely trust in knives, and affordable too.

Cutlery Review EXCELLENT knife for the money!
I bought this knife because it received great reviews from Cooks Illustrated Magazine (kind of the Consumer Reports for the home cook). Really, this is a nice knife, and on caliber with a Henkles knife that I own. It sharpens nicely, and has a good balance to it. If you'd like quality, but don't want to turn over half you paycheck for it, give this a try. Also try Dan's Knives - a store on eBay. You'll find it for a better price.
