Worth saving up forI bought this one today, my first high-end cutlery purchase. It's so worth the price. I spent a lot of time in the store handling the different brands of knives, getting a feel for their construction and how they sit in the hand, and this one was definitely the best. The blade is a thing of beauty, and the handle is incredibly comfortable, not likely to hurt your hand a bit after long periods of continuous cutting. When I got it home, it performed just as beautifully as I expected. I'll definitely be saving up for more Henckels Four-Star knives.
Truly fine knifeWe got one as a wedding present ten years ago. The quality is superb. With a twice-a-year honing, this knife remains incredibly sharp, is well balanced in your hand, and slices with ease even the toughest meats. With careful handling, the blade and handle have not worn at all, and will probably outlive me. One caveat for those who do not have high-carbon steel knives: they do require more care (ex. don't put in dishwasher, don't let blade touch other metal, don't use crude electric sharpener). Don't let the babysitter try to pry-off bottle caps (sadly, the matching 3" paring knife met its end this way). If you appreciate fine quality in this age of throw-away, this is a knife one could be happy with forever.
What a Knife! This knife was recommended to me by a retired chef/friend. I hated to spend the money on it but I went ahead and splurged. It is truly fabulous and I could chop all day with it. It makes me feel like a true chef when I'm using it. Watch those fingers! It would also be a great weapon if needed.

A very sharp KnifeThis is a great little knife. It if very sharp from the factory and has kept its edge nicely. The handle has a ridge that runs the length. This makes it a little more comfortable than a completely cylindrical handle. This is my girlfriend's favorite knife. She reaches for it when doing small chopping jobs like herbs and onions. It is very maneuverable and has a good heft for a small knife. The blade is thick and makes such a small knife deceivingly useful. I am a bigger guy and I usually use a 6" knife, but I find myself reaching for this knife more often.
A disadvantage to it being so think a blade is that it cannot double as a paring knife. More delicate cuts, like thinly slicing tomatoes, are difficult because the thick blade pushes the tomato slices out.
Overall, this is a very fine knife for the price. Ergonomics on the handle are hit or miss. I like the handle and so does my girlfriend but a few people have said it didn't fit right in their hand. I would say those are the minority of people who have used this knife. If you like to choke up on your knives this may be less comfortable on this knife than others as the round, blunt ending where the shaft meets the handle is not easily pinched when gripped in this way.

a rewarding splurgeNone of my paring knives were very satisfying to me. My best was an Oxo, and those are sharp, but flimsy. I wanted a firm, solid little knife I could bear down on. I bought this on sale, and now find myself making up excuses to use it. It cuts effortlessly, and holds a sharpening. Even better, it balances ergonomically in the hand. Though the handle is covered in a non-stick plastic, the knife feels full tang under it. In fact, you can feel its solidity whenever you use it or pick it up quickly, as it resounds and vibrates from the tip, like a musical instrument. It's sleek design is appealing and modern. This is a versatile and elegant kitchen tool, and it also cleans up quickly.

1) I dont care much for the cheap plastic-like orange handles
2) The finish on the knives appear to be cheap. Furi implies that these knives are made in Germany. However they are cheaply "Made in China". Now generally I dont care that much .. everything is now made in China anyways.. But when I am paying so much money for a product, I was hoping it was made in Germany or USA.
3) The case is even more cheaply made.
Personally, I would wait for a sale on the Global or the Wustof knives.
