I purchased this Diamond Sharpening Steel from Amazon and have used it for a couple of days. It really works superb and overall performance is above all expectations. It not only realigns the edge but sharpens it as well. I.e. it removes material (steel) in infinitesimal amount that accumulates on the surface of the tool as extremely fine dust. It takes only a few effortless strokes for simple edge realignment if the knife is sharp or few minutes of work if the knife is dull. But in any case, the result is amazing! Once in a while this Diamond Sharpening Steel should be put under running water for only a few seconds for cleaning and steel dust residue flushes with water. Maintenance is simple and easy.

So, whether you have cheap knives or expensive ones this tool is worth the money. The only issue I leave open is durability of this Diamond Sharpening Steel. Theoretically it should last forever but in reality it remains to be seen.

Wonderful balance, solid forge, well built, great edge, stylish, and practical. Fits nicely in the hand, great contour. The hilt labels are handy as well.

I can put several cloves in at once, and in 5 seconds they are all totally grated. I do it right over the pot on the stove. The only negative thing is that it leaves slivers ungrated at the end - depending on the dish I just put these into the pan or chop them. It all cleans up in the dishwasher no problem.

A fantastic addition to the 35000 Series, you'd have to be "micro" minded, "plane" crazy or in"slide" a mental institution not to develop a "serie(s)"ous "attachment" to this "grate" grater. "35000" marks out of 10!

Lets face it, using a grater can be dangerous but this is great! It has really saved my fingers from the sharp blades. You have to get this if you have these graters!

This knife's best at slicing tomatoes and other veggies. It's a bit short for cutting big peasant loaves, and the straight blade makes it harder to cut at an angle down through the bread, since the sharp point, while great for starting a cut through an obstinate veggie skin, can get stuck in your cutting board. The serrations work great, however, slicing through both crust and soft inner breadness.

i bought this the other day on clearance at a local department store. i was kind of questioning it because for the fact that it was on clearance. turned out to be one of the best things i've bought this year. very sharp. for the price, makes it even better. i strongly recommend this item. good luck.

After buying a bread machine, we now no longer buy our bread. Everyone (children and adults) cuts their own bread, at the table, to the slice thickness they prefer. With my old bread knives, the slices quite often came out looking like an ocean surface (waves and all). After upgrading to this Henckel (to match my other Henckel knives), we can now all cut straight slices. It doesn't matter if the bread just came out of the bread machine (yum) or if the bread was baked yesterday. No longer is the French bread (hard crusts) squashed while we try to slice it. This is definitely the "best thing since sliced bread"!

I have been very unsatisfied with this flatware, particularly the knives. After the first washing in the dishwasher, almost every knife had what appeared to be rust spots. Some of these "spots" came off but additional rust colored spots appeared when the knives were washed again. This set is not worth the money.

Reading some recent reviews, it seems that people are used to using lower quality dinnerware. I have been using this set for a couple months without any problems. The pieces are polished stainless steel, which will have water spots when you remove them from the dishwasher. You just need to take a rag and wipe them off. You should NEVER use any detergent with a citrus additive on stainless steel, it will cause corosion. The size and weight are a sign of quality because of the 18/8 steel, you do not have to worry about the spoon bending when scooping cold ice cream. You also dont have to worry about the tips of the forks being bent out of alignment. I also like that the forks and spoons stack on each other and keep the drawer looking neat.

This is a nice set especially when it comes with it's own wooden caddy. For $1 a piece, you really can't go wrong. I ordered this set 2 months ago. The pieces are pretty big, but that's what my husband wanted, big forks as he was tired of the flimsy forks we had, mostly from Oneida. This flatware is used on a daily basis. It's been through the dishwasher every time it's used. Absolutely no complaints. I'm very happy with this set.
