Cutlery Review A good deal
This is a pretty good bread knife. The serrations are spaced widely enough and are large enough that it doesn't generate tons of crumbs. The handle is comfortable enough, though I wouldn't want it on a chef's knife. For me, where this knife shines is the thickness. Usually you would not want a blade this thick. In a chef's knife, it would eliminate any benefits from a sharp edge as you drive a thick wedge through your target food. For this knife, though, the thickness is a plus. I've had no trouble tackling even the toughest, hard-crusted, breads with it with no flexing. Even stale French loafs get demolished easily. Sure, the thickness makes the knife weigh a bit more, but it's a bread knife. You won't be using it for more than a minute or two at the time unless you just really love the carbs. While it's not as sharp out of the box as I would like, I have yet to feel that it needs sharpening to do its job effectively, even after several months of ownership.

Cutlery Review Quite Pleasing
A bread knife is a specialized tool -- you really can't use it for much other than cutting bread. It's tempting to purchase just any bread knife. But this is forged, rather than stamped, and the reduced flexing of the blade goes a long way towards making the slice the slice you wanted rather than what you happened to get. Functionally, this knife is beyond reproach. Even with crusty breads, the crumbs are minimized.

It does not use the traditional three-rivet handle -- the handle is molded. But it is a full tang, and there's no reason to expect any loss in longevity.

I gave this four, rather than five, stars primarily on the basis of the appearance of the blade -- but this is a matter of personal taste. Unlike knives used in the kitchen (where getting the job done is the job, and the appearance is not particularly important) a bread knife is likely to be used before guests. The utilitarian appearance of the blade is entirely appropriate to my tastes, however it may not appeal to those who expect a highly-polished appearance. Also (and this is visible from the photos) this bread knife does not have an offset handle, which may be awkward with large cutting boards.

Cutlery Review Henckels Pro S 8-Inch Carving Knife
I didn't mind paying a high price for a product with a lifetime guaranty. But, when I sent my knife back for replacement, I was told that the bent tip on my knife was not a manufacturing defect. The tip on the knife bent, I think, just the heat from carving some piece of food. They refused to repair or replace. Wanted me to buy another. Got me once, shame on them. I'll buy America this time......

Cutlery Review Great knife.
This is a fantastic carving knife, it slices with great ease through cooked meats, regarldess of texture. Edge is extremely sharp and maintains with great ease.

Cutlery Review Terrific knife
No way the tip bent from slicing a roast. This knife is terrific.

Cutlery Review Great knife! Buy the whole set.
I recently purchased a set of 6 of these knives, and I couldn't be happier. We were originally considering Global and Wusthof Culinar knives, but once holding those and then these, we decided these were the knives for us.

Their unusual design is not only stylish, but functional. The wider handle design makes them easy to hold onto, even when your hands are wet or greasy. (Not the case with the other two.) The knives are also heavy and extremely well balanced, giving you a solid feel when you cut through something. Finally, they are forged out of just one piece of metal, so there are no seams (like on the Wusthof Culinar line) between the handle and the blade, making them a breeze to clean up with a little soapy water. (As with all good knives, they should never be put in the dishwasher.)

This bread knife cuts through soft or hard bread with ease. It is so sharp that I think it will be a long time before it needs sharpening. (For comparison, I use some of the other knives in my set every day, have had them for 3 months, and I'm just thinking of sharpening for the first time soon.)

I really don't think you could go wrong with this knife.

Cutlery Review Care for it...
And it will not warp, as another reviewer mentioned. There ARE instructions, they are on the little label sticker, though I can understand how they could be missed. I haven't even oiled mine, and it isn't warped or cracked. You can't dishwash it or soak it (also mentioned on the label) so that may be the cause of some people's cracking. I air dry it, lying it face down against any minor warping and this helps as well.

That said, it is too much work, and I would be skeptical of using it on meat due to not being able to as thoroughly wash it and to the cracks/seams. Glad it was free.

Cutlery Review so far so good
I felt that this cutting board deserves more credit than it has received so far from the reviews here. I agree that it is not one of those hefty high-density boards that should be showed off on your countertop. Nonetheless, this is a decent board, especially at the price on Amazon.

I've been using it for 5 months now and it has not split or warped on me. I found it to be especially handy for small to medium cutting tasks. But if you plan on having just one cutting board, go with a larger one.

The other nice thing about this board is that its size and weight is much more manageable for cleaning. I rinse and let air dry my cutting board after each use. With the heavier larger boards, you'd have to be an arm wrestling champ to do that.

Bottom line, it's a solid second cutting board for the price.

Cutlery Review Dull Dull Blades
A friend of mine had a similar chopper from a expensive kitchen supplies store and it worked well. I bought "Quick Chop" and was extensively dissappointed. The blades so dull you have to slam the handle down to get it to cut anything. These choppers can be nifty, but go to a kitchen supply store and fork out the 25 bucks if you want one to work.

Cutlery Review Cheap
I haven't used any more expensive choppers to compare this to, but I've noticed I really have to slam on this one to get it to do much chopping- the blade was pretty dull from the start. It's not as easy to clean as they advertise- if you just wanted to clean one piece, the whole thing pops apart. I don't use it too often because of the cleaning, but it is more convenient to use than my mini-food processor for small jobs, and faster at mincing than a knife.

Cutlery Review Great - while it works
I loved this item for the first month I bought it. It could chop items as fine as you please in much less time. However, I can't get the blades to stay in the slots anymore. After about a month, the blades would come lose while chopping and would bend as a result. Now they won't stay in the slots at all, so its useless. I really love the idea, but need to find a better quality design before I'll buy another one.
