Home and Kitchen Review I like the remote
I purchased three of these fans, two from Amazon and one from a hardware store. The two from Amazon must have been a later version because the other one required trimming the tabs on the fan blades to get them to fit correctly. I agree with other reviewers in that the light is too dim, hardly usable at all. The fans, while heavy and should probably require two people to help install them, are extremely quiet. I like the remote, however, the remote cradle does not fit well over rocker switches, regardless of what the instructions say.

Home and Kitchen Review Very nice fan for the price!
Ultra modern, nice and quiet. And, fast! I use reverse setting for cold weather. I like the fact that there is no pull chain! The light is dim, and it's florescent, so better use a back-up light for reading.

This fan looks great on high ceilings, does not need an extension.

Home and Kitchen Review This Fan Is THE Best.!!!!!!!! EVER !!!!
I've had one of these units for over 4 years now and look forward to purchasing at least 2 more Oceanus fans!!

Love the ease of using the control and as far as the light being dim,....I have never had a problem with the lights. For reading one should always use a reading lamp,..so for a room light/fan combo,....this fan is the greatest.!!!!

The remote control fits human hands so perfectly and it is easy to find the right buttons to push even in the dark!!

This fan really cools the WHOLE room very nicely,.....never knew a ceiling fan could be this great until I bought an Oceanus by HUNTER.!!

The price for the quality is unsurpassed!!!

I need a ceilling fan in every room down here in the Carribean and this one is better than anything I have had in my 47 years of living in paradise.!! Thanks Hunter!! Laurie in Key Largo, Florida. ;-)

Home and Kitchen Review Great Pressure Cooker
I had been using a pressure cooker I inherited from my mother which she bought in 1949, that is until it blew the greasy water & fat combo from corned beef all over the ceiling, cupboards, counter & stove. I shopped around on line and liked the Chef's Design 9 qt the best. Wow....what a difference 50+ years make in pressure cooker design. I would only use the old one to cook corned beef for St. Pat's for my wife's family. They won't eat anyone else's corned beef because it's just not the same fall apart beef that I make. But the Chef's Design is so easy to use that I've cooked dinner in it the past 4 weekends, which my wife loves because she doesn't have to cook.
Get another cook book besides the small one that comes with it. The 1st corned beef I cooked wasn't very tender because the original cook book didn't tell me to leave the pressure at high, I turned it down too low with only a little steam coming out (probably afraid I'd be decorating the ceiling again). And the yellow sticker, use a hair dryer to soften the glue.....comes off pretty easily. My wife wants to know what I'm cooking this weekend.

Home and Kitchen Review I would change this to 4 stars if I could
This items has some strong points; it is 18/10 Stainless Steel with thick alum sandwiched in base, is was $45 with free shipping when I bought it, and it came with a glass lid so you can use it as a stainless steel stock pot or store food in fridge. However there is a weak point. This pressure cooker is limited to 11.6 PSI. It is undesirable not to hit the standard 15 PSI, cooking temp will be nearly 10 degrees less, and cooking times 2 to 3 minutes more. It this item's defense, I have not seen evidence that other brands in this price range reach 15 PSI either, which leads me to suspect they don't as this is something to brag about. I purchased two spare gaskets from an on line source that I found, a little over $20 with shipping. Five years from now, I don't know if they will be that easy to find, and these do wear out. The item came well packaged, and in perfect condition. Everything about this item is super, except that it would be much better for it to reach 15psi. Do a search on 'Miss Vickie' to learn more about pressure cookers.

Home and Kitchen Review Pressure Cooker Takes the Pressure Off
I have never owned a pressure cooker before, but this one made a good first impression. Dishes that normally take hours are done in minutes, and all the food's flavor and nutrition is preserved.

This unit is very sturdy and well-made. I like having a second lid so I can use it as a regular sauce pan as well as a pressure cooker. It is quickly becoming one of the most frequently-used pans in my kitchen.

Home and Kitchen Review Great coffee, fairly easy to clean
Had this coffee maker in my family for ages. Finally found one for myself here on amazon. I love it, and it's really not hard to clean between uses, however grinds get into the well and take some doing to get out (hence the 4 stars).

Make sure the bean holder and top are completely dry before grinding your beans, for best results. Also, permanent filters don't seem to work for this model, so you will need paper ones. I made a full coffeepot the first time and it came out weak. Now I make half to 3/4 pot at most. But I like strong coffee, so this could be a matter of taste.

I had a Krups self-grinding coffeemaker for years but it kept breaking. This coffeemaker is much more sturdy. I'm happy with my purchase.

Home and Kitchen Review Better than the older model
I had the earlier model. I don't recall the model number, but it was stainless, with a stainless, insulated decanter. I really liked the older model, especially the decanter. It suffered from some engineering problems. You had to be very careful to follow certain steps, or it would leak. Sometimes the door, which held the coffee when perking, would pop open, if not closed securely. This would cause a real mess. My wife put a plastic tray underneath it to contain the mess. Well, when we eventually made a mistake, it filled with coffee-water and shorted out the coffeemaker.

This newer model is great. Much better engineered than the older model. In the construction, they used cheaper materials, but seems very adequate. I still have my old insulated decanter from my old cuisinart and pour my coffee into that after it brews. Unfortunately, it will not fit in the new coffeemaker.

If you like fresh ground coffee, this is a real winner!

Home and Kitchen Review This is great!
This is a replacement for one that I broke. It actually works better than the original! I love the idea of putting in coffee beans and having the machine do the rest. I highly recommend this product. Plus, it is less expensive--what a deal!

Home and Kitchen Review V2440 Food Saver
This is easy!! The price and automatic features came together in a serenditous combination! Great machine, and a good move up for me. I replaced an older, manual model. This has the features that matched the way I work, without giving me built-in features I have no need for.
My one complaint is that it did not come with a set of jar sealers, which I use to store grated cheese or cut onions.

This is a wonderful product. We have only had it for a short time, however; we have already seen a savings in our food bill. That is something I think everyone can relate too. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Home and Kitchen Review Awesome!

Home and Kitchen Review So, this is how the restaurants do it!
As a reluctant cook who loves good food, this is a major discovery. Moreover, judging from the three tries I've had at it so far (meat, fish, chicken), it lives up to its hype. The flavors of the marinade not only are suffused throughout the fibers of the meat, but they're peaked. That is, powder spices that usually go barely noticed, assert their presence like never before. What's more, the moisty succulence is something I've tried to achieve for a long time. Anyone who is not getting these results might not be doing the vacuum part right.

In my anxiety to try new marinade ingredients, it's likely that frozen dinners will become a thing of the past.

Home and Kitchen Review Brilliant!!!!
The best home cooked meat I've ever had. In fact, if it weren't for my poor presentation skills, I'd rate my recent experiments among those from the best restaurants. Really, really good. One warning though...use the vac times that they suggest. I ran some pork chops through 3 20 minute cycles. The meat was totally disguized by the marinade. So, listen to the directions, don't buy their overpriced spices, and enjoy chicken again...or for the first time. Great product.

Home and Kitchen Review replacement
The purchase of this salad shooter replaces our 7 year old shooter. The old one stopped working due to a worn out switch. I was informed by Presto that these items are not repairable. They do not carry parts to repair them. So now my wife has a new shooter that she uses daily and that saves her a lot of time. And now I don't mind helping her with grating the veges as the shooter takes all of the work out of it. It's also very easy to clean. Any one who cooks a lot should have one of these

Home and Kitchen Review A great timesaver!
I have a Tea Room in TN and use a lot of grated cheese on a daily basis for quiche, soups, sandwiches, etc. The salad shooter saves a lot of time over grating the cheese by hand. My mom has a tea room also and I plan on ordering her one today! Thanks Presto!

Home and Kitchen Review Conveniently sloped sides cost space
Fortunately, I didn't toss my old 8-inch straight-sided cast-iron skillet when this one arrived. This pan works as well as you'd expect, but the sloping sides reduce the cooking surface of the pan. The slope makes it easier to get a spatula under an egg and cleaning the rounded corners inside the pan is probably marginally easier. The flat handle doesn't seem to get so hot. Overall, though I don't think the loss of cooking surface is worth the benefits of the pan.

Home and Kitchen Review Very happy with this purchase
I have replaced all my cephalon cookware with cast iron and stainless steel.

The general consensus is that these pans are a bit harder to take care of. For me, this is not true.

I use skillets for sauteing and cooking eggs, and with a coating of vegetable oil or butter, sauteed vegetables and eggs clean up with hot water and a quick scrub with a brush. It took a little more effort to clean the nonstick pans from the day they came out of the box, and a lot more effort within a few months as the coating began to deteriorate.

If you are considering replacing all of your non-stick pans, you'll want to get a stainless steel pan or two for tomato products and liquidy soups, which can dissolve the "seasoning" off of a cast-iron skillet. Of course, it's easy to build the seasoning back up again, but why bother?

Home and Kitchen Review 8 inch skillet
I bought this skillet over one month ago. It is wonderful. It makes perfect omelettes and fried eggs. This is my new everyday pan. I used to be a fan of nonstick pans, however, after noting the nonstick coatings coming off my pans, I went back to the basics with cast iron.
Cast iron cookware needs more care to prevent rust. That is the only drawback.
I have the surety of knowing that this pan will last forever and not worry about chemicals coming off onto my food.

Home and Kitchen Review Try something else...
I bought these granules because I have a problem in my yard with a woodchuck and a baby bunny. I followed the instructions and it looks like it might have actually worked on driving the woodchuck away. However, the baby bunny has no fear. I think he laughs at me every time he sees me sprinkling the stuff and then he just hops on over to eat all of my perennials. I'm giving this product 3 stars only because it seems to have worked on the woodchuck. Otherwise, it would be zero stars.

Home and Kitchen Review Great product and customer service
I must disagree with the review that state that the website provides no route to a refund. Though the website states that it is being revised, there is a toll free number listed. I called to inquire about a refund because initially the product wasn't working for me. Though the agent was more than accomodating about providing a refund, she also took the time to ask me how I'd been using the product. As it turns out, I was applying it all wrong. She talked me through how I should use it, and it's been working like a charm ever since. It takes a little bit of time to begin to work, but it was worth the wait.

Home and Kitchen Review Works on Skunks!
I live in a very suburban area and hate the nightly smell of the "skunk parade" through our yard. I've been using this stuff for a couple of years, and it REALLY WORKS! From the first day I sprinkled it, the skunks were gone (at least from my yard!)

Home and Kitchen Review good filter for the price
I could definitely tell a difference in the taste of my water, and hopefully that means it's chlorine free, but I haven't had it tested. However, it must be doing its job because the filter itself only lasts about a month! I think that its life span just depends on how bad your water is. It works better that my old Brita filter, which I could tell wasn't working because my water still smelled like chlorine with that one. That being said, I would buy the PUR pitcher over again if given the choice.

Home and Kitchen Review An easy way to drink more water
When our offices were redecorated, all the water coolers were taken away. Since then, I've been carrying in bottles of water at the start of every week -- or trying to remember to bring them in. Very annoying! This has been the perfect solution for me -- I fill it up in the morning from the tap and have it right at my desk. Easy to use, and the water tastes great. After years of good intentions, I'm FINALLY drinking more water!

Home and Kitchen Review Convenient!
This new pitcher is a an ideal size for smaller fridge plus not very heavy when full. Water tastes great!
