Wonderful Gift Lazy SusanI recently got married and for one of my wedding gifts I got a pretty expensive 17 inch solid wood lazy susan. Well when I moved into my house with my husband my mother saw it and fell in love. She went on on and on about how she would love to have one for parties to put cheeses and crackers and for different things. Well they are usually pretty expensive and I was not able to find one cheap. My mom's birthday came up and I was able to find one using amazon.com not as big but as nice. I was able to send it to my mom and she loves it she uses it all the time and it stays out on the table so the grandkids can use it to choose treats. Great gift idea. This item is awesome and is better then mine it came already treated. I had to pre-treat mine since it being wood. My mom just adores it.

This is not your mother's Corning Ware.Mother is lucky.
Her Corning Ware is the real thing made in the USA from a space-age scientific miracle: Corning Pyroceram. Today's "CorningWare" is a stoneware imposter imported from overseas by World Kitchen who licenses the registered trademark "CorningWare" from Corning Incorporated.
World Kitchen explains the switch at the corningware.com web site:
"History of CorningWare®
The original CorningWare® bakeware which was first introduced in 1958, was made of a glass-ceramic material that could be used on the stove, in the oven and under the broiler. After World Kitchen acquired the brand in the late 1990's, CorningWare products were switched to ceramic stoneware production. Introduced later that year was the French White collection, which has been an all-time best seller among brides-to-be.
The stoneware transition was made, in part, to ensure that the brand adapted to the evolving tastes of consumers who today put a premium on color and design. In addition, with the advent of the microwave, the thermal benefits of the original material diminished in importance for home cooks."
They overlook the differences between Pyroceram and stoneware, which are like the Jetsons and the Flintstones. Pyroceram is a pure white vitreous material with a glass-smooth finish. It is 100% impervious to food acids and staining. "CorningWare" stoneware is no better than the cookware Target and Wal-Mart sell under their own labels. It has an off-white finish and a dull pebbled surface that can hold onto stains. It's also thicker, heavier and, according to many who've bought it, far more prone to failure over time, especially if you use it as freezer-to-oven-to-tableware. World Kitchen knows this, and that's why the warranty against thermal failure on "CorningWare" stoneware is a measly ONE YEAR, compared to the whopping TEN YEAR warranty on Pyroceram.
If you already own a few pieces of Corning Ware Pyroceram cookware, take good care of it. World Kitchen has no plans to bring it back. Genuine Corning Ware is irreplaceable while "CorningWare" stoneware sends your kitchen back to the Stone Age.

Do not buy! Although it's true, this is a great looking product, I am highly disappointed in the corningware set. I have only used this set occasionally in the past year. However, tonight after 10 minutes in a 375 degree oven, the medium oval dish cracked completely in half - not just cracked, but completely broken in two(dripping the contents all over the bottom of the stove!). Of course, their "warranty" is only good for one year! Give me a break! If you are lucky enough to get a package with all the pieces intact (see the other reviews), the products still can't withstand a normal oven temperature. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! If their products were that good, they would be able to offer a warranty that protects against defects for longer than 1 year!
corning ware 10-pc setDisappointed. Although it cooks/bakes well and is attractive, it is not easy to grasp and hold. It is very difficult to transfer as a hot item from the oven. There are no side grips or handles to hold to support the pieces. It is too clummsy with handling, especially if both the lid and bowl are hot. I would not purchase it again nor give it as a gift. The price was reasonable, and although it was received with a broken bowl, it was replaced without any hassle and to full satisfaction. I am comparing this to a set of corning ware that I have had since 1968, and the old set is the best for my personal use.

No Temprature functionI had put this item on my wedding registry thinking that it would be a convenient device to use when I am frying food. However, when I used it I found two major things wrong with it. One, the most important, the outer shell got so hot that I had to put a towel around it so that someone would not burn their hand. Two, it didn't have a temprature scale. If I wanted to fry something at low heat, I couldn't, which I didn't think was very convenient. I ended up returning the item and getting something else.
get what you pay for in a good wayThis product does all it should I use it ALL the time. the downsize is the size. other than that perfect would highly recomend it
Quick FryingI am the only person in my household and I do not fry a lot. The Fry Daddy Jr. Is perfect for a person that wants to just fry something for one or two or even more. It heats quickly and maintains its frying temperature the whole time unlike some of the deep fryers I have used in the past.

Nice openerSo far this can opener has worked perfectly. The tops remain attached to the magnet, it's a breeze to clean and the size adjusts to the size of the can to be opened. A really good product.
This is my favorite! After many years of faithful service my old Sunbeam Adjustable Can Opener was ready to retire. I went out and purchased a different can opener, but it just didn't compare. So, I'm now on my second Sunbeam Adjustable Can Opener. I highly recommend this product.

Must have!I think it's a must have for jerky making. I love my Nesco dehydrator, jerky maker & the jerky spice works seasoning packets and cure mixes.
Great starter kitI have tried many other jerkey makers and keep going back to this one...although it doesnt have much capacity you can order two and have your kids fill the other one while you are shooting one. My favorite receipe is one I call "Zippy", it has one pouch of "Hot and Spicy" (from the Nesco site) and two pouches of "Original" mixed in a ziplock then mixed in three pounds of meat and cure. I really have abandoned all other spice mixtures...all of my friends like "Zippy". As for dehydators, Nesco makes the best (if they have a circulating fan) but I have outgrown mine and bought the commercial dehydrator from Cabelas which can do about 30 pounds of jerkey at a time. Even with this volume, I still use the Nesco spice and gun, they are the best.
A great start to making jerkyNesco/American Harvest produces some of the finest dehydrators around, that's a given. I've owned several different brands and these folks know what they're doing when it comes to drying foods. It's a natural outgrowth then that this company could do well providing the tools and mixes that people could use with their dehydrators. With this particular set, they have done exactly that. A good sampling of their various flavorings for jerky and a great little jerky shooter that makes the preparation easy. Some things to keep in mind, even though I score this product 5 stars. First, the meat canister on this product is fairly small. If you are going to make a big batch of jerky, you will be loading it a lot! I make 3-5 pounds of finished jerky at a time and loading this shooter repeatedly does get a little tiresome. Second, the mixes are simple to use but do contain MSG, an ingredient lots of people are watching closely these days. Third, while this item has a fairly small capacity of meat, it is a solidly made item. I have purchased the upgraded size jerky shooter from Nesco and key parts are made of plastic, unlike this one that has a metal drive system. That makes this item better than the one you can upgrade to. Lastly, a consumer awareness tip. I really got into making jerky (primarily bison) so have placed several orders directly with Nesco. There have been a couple of errors, but the company has always stepped forward to make things right. So, perfection? No. Willingness to stand up and do the right thing? Absolutely.
This is a great set to acquire to get you started with jerky preparations. I continue to use it regularly almost 2 years later without a hitch. If their large jerky shooter were made this well, I'd be a very happy jerk.
