There is no fuss to this machine. Poor the batter in and close the lid. The waffles come right out without sticking. The only thing I discovered is that you don't want to latch it shut because as the waffles cook and expand, it forces the top to open. I found that if I poor the batter in and just gently bring the lid down without latching it, it gives the top room to expand and they come out perfect every time. Takes about 4-5 minutes each time. A very good deal for the price!

I bought this as a "treat" for my school-age kids, who I figured must be getting tired of the same thing for breakfast every day. My expectation was that this unit should cook a couple of decently sized waffles well in a few minutes time. EXPECTATION MET: two crispy waffles from regular batter in about 4 min! It took one batch to figure out how much batter you really should use without overflow(if you have a ladle, use it!) I was concerned about the cleanability of the unit, but that is not an issue. The non-stick coating is excellent and nothing remains on the griddle surface after you remove the waffles (using a plastic utensil, of course, to preseve the finish.) It stores upright very nicely to conserve space. For the price, it is almost impossible to regret this purchase.

I have already submitted my review of this product. Buyers beware. However,if you already have one, like I do, and want to make the best of it, you might want to know a few things.

First, if you are looking for a gold filter for this coffeemaker, the Krups 049 size is the right one. The 053 size, though Krups claims it fits all their 10 and 12 cup makers, is too big. Both are available on Amazon. On the other hand, it has been suggested that the Swissgold #4 is far superior to the Krups 049 and will fit this machine.

Second, there are useful reviews of this product under the same model [FME1-11] that comes in black. Why they don't combine the reviews is beyond me. It's the same contraption.

Last, those little filters for this model are also available on Amazon: Krups DuoFilters 472-000, 2-pack.

There. Let's at least get the right accessories to go with this cheap-o contraption while it lasts. I find it makes good coffee. It's just cheaply constructed and I don't think it will last very long.

This coffee maker is simply cheaply made. I had the same experience as the other reviewer -- the water level indicator is erratic and inaccurate. More to the point, however, is that the part that holds the coffee grounds, which "swings out", does so on the cheapest of hinges. Mine just fell off. It is a plastic snap-on unit with one thin metal wire that holds that part of the unit together and serves as a "spring."

I have had Krups products in the past and generally they are built to last, but this thing is already falling apart and I've had it for 4 months.

Krups can do better.

I would generally not take the time for write a review. But as a longtime fan of KRUPS products, I have to say that the FME1-11 Coffeemaker is a huge disappointment.

The appliance has only been in my kitchen three days, and already the water-level-indicator on the front left side is malfunctioning.
It won't be much fun using a measuring cup each morning to establish the right amount of water ....

KRUPS should be making a windfall on this unit as it appears to be nothing more than a cheap piece of molded plastic and a thin glass pot. Not even that attractive when it's in front of you.

KEEP LOOKING, there have to be better units out there.
