When the coffee starts coming out in the spent coffee grounds holder instead out the front into your cup, you are looking at a $200 repair and a 2 month service in New Jersey. A little over a year since this service, and now it's clogged up again - and I have to say I've been using all the proper expensive cleaning tablets and anti-calk fizzies and it still does this! Pretty frustrating only a few years after paying $900 for the thing! This time it's going into the trash and I learned a very expensive lesson not to buy such an expensive toy again.

I loved it - when it worked. I managed to squeak less than a year of very light use out of my machine before I gave up on it. It went in for service after less than a month of use. It was gone for two months. It worked for about four months. That trip for service took nearly three months. It worked for less than five months before it began to leak. Once again I took it the 200 miles to the nearest authorized repair facility. For the third time then, I paid $50 for shipping to the repair facility. After three months I got a call. The factory repair facility had told them that it would cost $250 to "repair the seals." The way I figure it I should have been content to drive the 40+ miles to the nearest cafe when I wanted a great cup of coffee. I'd have saved a bundle. Fortunately, I purchased it at the military exchange while I was working for the Army in Europe so initial outlay was less for me than for most. Krups and the Army-Air Force Exchange Service now know that I will never again buy anything carrying the Krups marque.

I have own many espresso machines in the past, but never a super automatic ones. Finally decided to go for one where I first looked at Saecos and Capressos. Liked the Capressos, but was hinted to me that the Krups can be had at a lower price with the same quality. Been happy with it sofar, make good espresso shots 70% of the time (less consistency when compared to ESE pod machines), sensitive to bean brands and ground level, so experiment. I have good results with Starbuck espresso smooth roast so far. For taller coffees, it is much better than using manual espresso machines for some reasons. The crema is excellent without the "overbrewed" bitter taste. Also, try using the CLARIS filter system, be sure to use number 7525 NOT 7520 which fits some other Capresso machines. The thread is different and it does not say in the manual. If the shots are more consistent, I would have rate it 5 stars, but 4.5 stars for this one.
