A GREAT MACHINEWe have had kitchenaid mixers for over 20 years, 3 upgrades but still the same machine. The gearbox on our last machine failed and, after much research, we decided to purchase the DeLonghi machine. It is a superior product in all ways, powerful, quiet, and handles bread dough with NO problems. We bake bread at least once a week and it is really a pleasure to use this machine. My only grip is that the dough hook, whip, and mixing attachments all needed adjustment. They were set too far off the bottom of the bowl. The manual explained the very easy fix. All in all, I would purchase this machine over the Kitchenaid.
SUPER MIXER!!!!!!This mixer is worth every penny. It operates much smoohter than the Kitchen Aid, and does a better job with dough. (The motor burned out on my Kitchen Aid Pro). I don't have to pause the mixer to scrape the sides anymore. The mixer actually does all the mixing. IMAGINE THAT!
Strong Reliable Mixer--the Best!I was a KitchenAid fan. I had the Special Edition 350 watt and burned the motor out twice in just a couple of years. When it burned out the 2nd time I decided not to spend another $100+ on repairs. I bought this Delonghi and love it.
The splash guard is great and convenient to use (I'd never used the KitchenAid splash guard because it was too much trouble). Now I don't know how I ever lived without one--no more white dust all over my counters.
The power is more than I'll ever need but at least I don't have to worry about burning the motor out.
It is very easy to change attachments. You can even change them while the splash guard is on.
It is also very easy to clean.
Great Buy!

K45SB Replacement Bowl is what I got.I was really excited about finding a replacement bowl for my kitchen aid mixer. I bake 3 to 4 cakes a week. However, this bowl is being advertised as KithenAid K45SBWH, the WH meaning "with handle". I received the bowl without a handle. The handle is a very important feature to me. The advertisement is erroneous and very misleading. I was very disappointed that I didn't get what I ordered.
What Was I Waiting For !I have needed an extra mixing bowl for ages but couldn't justify the $50 price tag so when I spotted it here for $30, that was a good incentive to get one. Sure makes things easier when you don't have to transfer ingredients and wash the bowl in the middle of mixing a receipe.
Does what it does, and does it WELLI needed a bowl, and gosh darn it, this fit the bill nicely. An added bonus: makes a great piece of headwear in a pinch.

Poor Product Worse Customer ServiceI received the 5 qt bowl lift stand mixer for a Christmas gift.
It's performance was pathetic from day one but we managed to limp along for six months before it quit altogether. It's elliptical orbit was supposed to make better contact with the food it was mixing, but instead it made contact with the bowl, scratching it and completely throwing the bowl off it's pins. You could not begin to hold the bowl on to the machine even with both hands! It would heat up, give off the 'hot electrical' smell and quit.
When we called Kitchen Aide, their *first* response was that it was 'operator error.' Sorry folks, but after being a professional cook, I am smart enough to snap a bowl in place over two pins and a button spring-snap at the back. It was insulting on top of having to cope with a mixer that did not live up to even the least of my expectations.
We called them and they sent a replacement. It worked two weeks, got hot and quit in the middle of mixing 5 cups of bread flour. And the same little snippy customer dis-service agent *argued* that a 5-quart mixer should not have to handle that load. For thirty minutes she tried to force us to believe that it was user error.
She then had the audacity to suggest we make *half a pizza*, wait half an hour and make the other half of the pizza. What planet does she live on? A $300 machine can't make a single crust pizza? Does that mean I make a half of a loaf of bread at a time, too? That machine should make half a dozen loaves of bread every day of the week for years for that kind of money.
We asked to speak to a supervisor and read the instructions right off of page eleven to her. The book said no more than '12 cups' of flour. So five cups of bread flour is too much when the instruction booklet says 12? Hummph! and hogwash! And they suggested that the machine should not run for more than six minutes at a time. . .Six minutes? SIX MINUTES?
What if I had been making a really stiff dough like pasta? Oh, yeah, that's right. . .it wouldn't make semolina pasta dough at all when I tried it. . .that's right 2 1/2 cups of semolina would not mix and knead on a $300 machine enough to run through the pasta extruding attachment we purchased separately.
How about trying to grind sausage in six minutes? That isn't going to happen in this life time either. Save your money and skip the attachments even if you break down and buy the mixer.
The Oster Kitchen Center we had mixed 8 cups of flour for 3 loaves of bread at a time at least 3 days a week for nearly 20 years with no complaints from it or me (plus using the blender, ice cream, food processor, shredder and grinder attachments) until I finally wore it out. . .not the motor, mind you. . .the connector that held the attachments to the motor was so worn down that it was unusable, but the motor fired up just fine. And, yes, it routinely made double batches of semolina pasta dough that I ran through my hand cranked Atlas pasta machine.
Yeah, they are sending us a new machine, but we don't think we should have had to go through this plus they do not guarantee that it will be any better than the two we have had already.
And we certainly should not have to had to argue for half an hour that a five quart machine can't handle five cups of King Arthur bread flour.

I love it...If you're looking for a heavy duty mixer that almost belongs in a restaurant but is really for the home, this is the one for you. A couple of things to be aware of though. This mixer is a bit louder than the artisans. And because it has the lifting bowl design, it's slightly taller. You may want to measure the height of your counter-to-cabinet space. The mixer doesn't fit under some of my cabinets.
I would not buy a different mixerIf you bake heavy bread doughs or large batches, this is the mixer for you. I had a slightly smaller Kitchen Aid mixer, which I also loved, but the extra size and motor power of this model is invaluable. It is a beautiful machine. It is heavy and quiet, and very powerful, like an expensive luxury automobile. It is also very beautiful, I have it in red, and it is just gorgeous with my red le creuset pans (they have the exact same color and finish). It has a very useful feature where it starts out slow when you first turn it on, then gradually speeds up. This keeps things from slopping out of the mixing bowl. There are three things I do not especially like about this mixer, but you will notice I give the machine 5 stars anyway. The first problem is really minor. It takes some degree of coordination to get the bayonet at the back of the mixing bowl attached to the mixer. The other two problems stem from the top of the mixer not swinging up, as it does on the smaller mixers. Using the plastic chute accessory to load ingredients is a bother, so I soon stopped doing that. When I put ingredients into the bowl, it is kind of an awkward, messy procedure. Then, when you finish mixing, it is also awkward to get the beater out of your food product. If something were to happen to the machine I own, these problems would not keep me from buying the same exact machine again. For people who cook large batches, this mixer is just wonderful. If you don't really need the volume, you would be happier with one of the smaller mixers, the top of which swing up.

Don't bother with this, buy a real wheat grinder....This attachment reveals a design flaw in the Kitchenaid Mixer design. Inside every Kitchenaid Mixer you have a transmission/gearbox that drive both the mixer and the accessory drive shaft. This gearbox has a PLASTIC cover that holds all the gears in place.
The grain mill attachment places the *most* stress on your kitchenaid, more than any other attachment you can buy. What happens is when you're grinding wheat, it heats up that gearbox and the plastic cover starts to flex, and if you run it more than 10 minutes it'll heat up enough to break the plastic.
I bought this attachement for my wife for Christmas 2004. It broke the transmission and stripped the gears on the mixer in January. We removed the cover and saw the cracked plastic. Kitchenaid promptly sent a replacement mixer even though ours was "out of warranty". This tells me that they KNOW about their design flaw.
We got our shiny new Kitchenaid Mixer the next week. My wife took it out of the box, attached the grain mill and started it grinding flour. Within 10 minutes the plastic cover failed on the new one. Kitchenaid sent out a new one, again. We're now on our third mixer and we're looking to get a refund from Kitchenaid for the Grain Mill so we can go out and buy a real wheat grinder.
It's really sad. All Kitchenaid needs to do is put a metal gearbox cover on the transmission and you could grind wheat into flour non-stop. I can't believe that they're willing to stake their good name on a plastic part!

Worth the price ?Generally I've been satisfied with all Kitchen Aid attachments, but this one is a little different. For the price I could buy myself a stand alone grain mill with more features and save the load on my beloved workhorse.
Great Mill---even better bread!I have had the pleasure of milling all the wheat we use for bread with this mill for almost 5 years. It does a terrific job. I have never double milled and do not find that step necessary. The resulting flour makes the greatest bread.

Head wobbles on mixerI bought this KitchenAid to replace one that I had only had for about 5 years and it was my second one. The first one I got was 27 years ago and it's still running great. When I first got the 2nd one, I noticed that the main head of the machine wobbled back and forth everytime I used it. I had my husband tighten it a few times, but that only helped for a short time. When it finally quit working, he took it apart and the oil had leaked inside it and formed as a big mass of jel - thick coagulated oil & grease. Anyway, the head on my new mixer wobbles just like on the other one and that worries me. Will I have the same problem in another 4 or 5 years? I know things don't last forever, but one reason I have loved KitchenAid is because I have known them to last a long, long time... certainly more than 5 years. Do the heads wobble on ALL the new models?

Kitchen Aid Ultra Power Mixer-300Watt KSM90This is the third mixed I have purchased from Amazon. All have been Kitchen Aid KSM90 Mixers. I have purchased two white and one red. There is no way that you can purchased a better mixer for the money. Why buy 3? I bought the first for my wife approx. 2 years ago then several months later I purchased one for my oldest daughter as a gift, then in Jan 2006 I purchased another one for my youngest daughter as a gift. The last one is used in baking cakes, etc. for resale. All machines preform very well with no trouble. Thanks for a splendid machine. I highly recommend the KSM90 300Watt mixer over all the rest.
AWESOMEWhy didn't I get this before? I do not know.
This is must have for cooking and baking.

Seems a bit flimsier than original whipWe just bought this as a replacement for one that came with the mixer almost 7 years ago. This is the right size for my model. I'm sure it will work fine (I only tried it in a dry bowl), but I'm having trouble with the seemingly lesser quality of this replacement whip. My original whip was 100% stainless steel and weighs 4.5oz. This new version has a connector socket that feels hollow, perhaps? It weighs only 3.3oz.
So if you are purchasing a replacement for an older whip, don't expect an exact replica (like I did). I'm trusting that this will work as well as my older one.

TIME SAVERThis item is absolutely wonderful and no kitchen should be without it. For delicate meringues, this appliance takes all the work out of an otherwise laborious task.
Wire Wisk AttachmentThe wire whisk is a perfect example of how kitchen aid should make all their attachments. It is made of stainless steel and works perfectly for making the fluffiest meringue. It does not have that nasty white paint coating like other attahments, therefore it does not chip off into your food. This is a must have attachment to your kitchen aid!

Good slicer too, but...After reading the reviews here, I wasn't sure if it sliced onions well. I am happy to say that the onions are sliced nicely. I was using a mandolin and throwing away too much, to prevent hurting myself. This is much quicker and safer. I also tried bell peppers, but the results weren't as good. Some of the peppers were mushed and some were huge slices. I had to get out the knife anyway and fix the large pieces manually.
Does anyone have a good solution for the (slight) problem of sliced vegetables flying about? I have to wear an apron, but would prefer some sort of diverter to aim the vegetables downward. (Most of the vegetables do go down, but some seem to be uncontrollable.)

I love this attachment !I have had this attachment for more than a decade and I love how easy it is to use and clean. Unlike some of the other reviewers I never had any difficulty disassembling the attachment when I needed to remove it from the machine. I find this product very simple to take apart and clean.
I find that I use this more than my Cuisinart food processor for shredding because it is so easy to use. It is very helpful that you don't have to stop and empty the bowl to continue shredding. That is the single biggest advantage the KitchenAid attachment has over the food processor.
I do usually slice with my food processor instead of this machine. I think that is just out of habit. In my experience the attachment is just as efficient for slicing as it is for shredding.
I would recommend this to anyone that shreds a lot of vegetables for carrot cake, zucchini bread, or potato pancakes. In most cases this attachment will eliminate the need for a food processor. If you have a small kitchen you might want to give this attachment a try before buying a separate food processor. This attachment takes up very little room when it is being stored.

Better than my Food ProcesserI love this attachment! Dont know how I lived without it. I would always pull a chunk of cheese from the fridge, hand grate what I needed ( what a pain ) and clean up. This is so much faster. I can do more at a time and clean up is quick.

Parts for this itemHi there! This is a great gift idea! We bought it for my father-in-law for his birthday. We used it at our wedding which was a great help, but ...... one of the black rubber parts that goes in the bottle accidentally got tossed with the bottle. I'm not sure where to get a replacement for it ... does anyone know where I can get a replacement or at least begin to look for one? Please let me know, I feel bad that we lost part of his gift at our wedding. Thank you for your help!
Right Time and Love itThe item came to me at the right time and i love it
A DEFINITE crowd pleaser!I purchased one of these as a gift for someone, and as soon as it hit the counter, the Bartender was a smash hit at the party. Everyone was asking about it. Watching the shots drain out and refill sold a few others on it, as well. Works terrific. Not quite sure about washing the detachable compartments yet. I'm looking for my manual (YES, I bought one for myself as well!) I highly reccomend the Bartender to ANYONE having get togethers or needing to decorate an empty kitchen with some style.
