Commercial like mixer without paying commercial priceAfter extensive research on the web and through friends' experiences, I decided to opt for this 7-qt mixer. Two other major brands I considered are Hobart and of course, KitchenAid. The DeLonghi mixer comes close to specs and features, but is also marketed under Kenwood and Hamilton Beach. I sure wouldn't want to pay premium price for a Hamilton Beach. The Hobart is a true commercial grade mixer but overkill for the occasional home use, not to mention at lease twice the cost. The KA doesn't have the 1000 wattage or the professional feel like the Viking 7-qt mixer. One thing my wife appreciates about this unit is that it has rear wheels for easy maneuverability around the countertop - the average stand mixer weights over 20 lbs so this feature definitely helps. Although the availability of accessories for this mixer is few, however, I do notice that the included beater, whisk, and dough hook are well-made, stainless steel attachments (not plastic coating over metal). Overall, the Viking mixer is powerful, easy to use, and professionally designed that won't look dated 10 years from now. This mixer must be a joy to work with because my wife's been baking almost every week since we got it. By the way, the stainless gray model one sees on the Viking website is grayer in color - only the bowl, attachments, and the front "Viking" attachment cover are stainless. Highly recommended.

Worst mixer everI reviewed this mixer last year, but the review mysteriously vanished. I returned mine. It was unstable due to the narrow base and seemed cheaply made. Buy a Kitchenaid instead, and go to a very nice dinner with the money that you will save.
For the name it's holds its cheapNothing to complain in the power department-I own 1000w stand mixer-, but after a year using it. The head is balancing, control knob is out of place, and I am looking for a new whip,-that is another job, finding replacements-the old loose one of the wires during work, almost hit my face.
It comes without any attachments-like the powerfull DeLongui.
As a reference I had own a 25 years old 4 cups KitchenAid, and still working-I know new's KA, doesnt carry same quality.
Pro= Its a workhorse, Con= It does not carry Viking quality.

If Hummer made a Mixer this would still be beefier. Finally a professional mixer that is not underpowered. The 1000 watt motor is bigger and more powerful than anything else in it's class. I purchased this for exactly the power reason, I burnt up my KitchenAid running a couple of batches of bread. The Viking mixer has a rear cooling vent and can handle the needs of a the harder core amateur gourmet chef or professional needing a a mixer smaller than a floor standing unit.
I am very happy with the power and features of the Viking Mixer. There are little wheels on the back of the mixer that allow you to move it around easily - very-nice feature. The head locks in both up and down positions, the KitchenAid's head seemed to fall at the worst possible moment. Dual accessory port allow a blender jar or other Viking accessories to be attached. The standard front meat/pasta grinder attachment seems a little sturdier than the KitchenAid's. Did I mention the motor, that lovely motor, power to kneed even the toughest rye bread dough.
Also bought the blender and food processor. Love them all. Premium Home and Garden is a good shipper also. Highly recommended.
