Reynolds Aluminum foil is the best. While it comes in 3 different gauges, it is not the thickness that makes it better than other brands. You could simply buy a thicker, "heavy-duty" aluminum foil by any brand because aluminum is aluminum. However, this Reynolds Wrap is not just aluminum and that's the difference. It is an alloy of 98.5% aluminum mixed with 1.5% iron and silicon for added strength and puncture resistance. Remember, iron and silicon added to copper makes an improved product called stainless steel, so this specific alloying does offer very improved properties over basic aluminum. Also, Reynolds uses no recycled metal which is vital to be certified safe for contact with food by the U.S.D.A.

They now offer this product in standard gauge [heaviest standard in the industry] plus heavy duty and extra heavy duty which are meant for differing applications. Standard aluminum foil is meant for wrapping sandwiches, covering bowls and containers with lost lids, wrapping all sizes of vegetables, or reheating pizza in oven or toaster oven. "Heavy Duty" is better suited for wrapping meats and poultry for the freezer, lining roasting pans, lining the inside of a charcoal barbecue grill to keep it clean, tenting roasted turkey to prevent oven spatters and over-browning etc. "Extra Heavy Duty" is meant for making campsite cooking utensils, lining the inside of a charcoal barbecue grill to keep it clean, and wrapping large meats and poultry for long-term freezing."
