The Hunter system I own looks a tad different cosmetically but has the same specifications. It came in a three pack, with two smaller units.

I did a little shopping before setting on this system. Of course I have to admit that I also own several Hunter ceiling fans. I found I could get filters on line and in local home improvement stores locally.

I have a thundering hurdy of cats so I have to deal with litter, food, fur, and several obscure smells. So I needed something that would suck it out of the air, not just catch particles as they pass. And this animal claims to turn the whole room over at approximately 6 times an hour.

Well you could imagine my surprise when I found that I did not have to leave it on high or all day to have the clean air effect. Just strategically placed where I stay and near the cat areas, the systems does their magic using the minimum speed setting.

Even though I leave them in standing up to have maximum walking space they can also be laid on their side like on a shelf. I still have to watch where I walk as the cats like to lay in front of them to catch the breeze.

In an emergency you can crank the system up to the top speed; which in general is not that noisy but it defiantly puts out white noise.

You hear pluses and minuses about ionized air. With a separate ionizer you can test it for yourself. I found that it did make everything seem fresher, yet I felt I smelled ionized air for the rest of the day so I use it sparingly for extraordinarily smelling times. The system works just fine at cleaning the air without it.

I had had to read the manual for recommended filter change times. I suggested the carbon filter every three months and the other filter about twice a year.

A real and surprising added plus is that I can sleep better with the system on.

This unit is nothing to write home about but I guess it serves its purpose. I purchased this fan for my small studio apartment. To be honest I'm slightly disappointed. If you are looking for a medium sized unit for an office or small apartment this unit does help.

That being said, don't be misled by the air cooling feature. This is not an air conditioner and will only give you slightly cooler air flow. The fan on high isn't really powerful. The two reusable ice packs are nice so that you can rotate them in. The timer control works well so that you can set it to run when you leave or go to sleep and it will continue to run for 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours. The setup and controls are very user friendly. You can get this unit up and running within 2 minutes of opening the box.

I don't think I would buy this unit again. I'd probably look for something with a higher speed fan or something that cools the air a little bit better.

This is a great unit and just like it states it is wisper quiet. Easy to read digital temp. Took about 5 min to warm a 63 degree room to 72! Takes up little space, I put mine in the corner and you don't even know its there. It is also an attractive unit that I don't mind having in any room of the house. The remote controol is a plus also. I Did not think I needed it, but now that I have it, I love that feature also. There is an easy to use timer on the unit also. That is a nice feature so you don't forget to turn it off when you go to work etc. I am thinking about ordering another one as this is such a handy unit. With heating costs this winter it is a money saver to use this electric unit to supplement your heat.

It's not exactly "whisper-quiet"; we located it in the study, off the master bedroom, and it's very loud. After running for about a month, the lowest fan setting broke and we were forced to run it on "medium" which is even louder. Even though it has an ionizer, it never smelled like our Sharper Image ionizers do. I don't think it was doing anything!

I like my Hunter Air Purifier. It cleans the air and makes my room smell good. I do agree that on high it is noisy but on low and medium mine is quiet. On high too, the air can smell unusual so I only use the high setting when I vacuum or on high smog days otherwise I keep it on low or medium. I think it is a good value for the price.

I have used my air purifier for about three months and love it. I have used and researched many air purifying technologies and have found the only two safe and effective methods to be HEPA and or UV Light units. As previously stated by others in this review the unit is noisy on high setting. However, it has a soothing white noise sound on medium and low. In one of the reviews it was mentioned that this unit did not produce a smell like the Sharper Image products. The smell that they were talking about is actually ozone which is a harmful pollutant and is believed to cause lung problems and even increase chances of lung cancer. That is something not to be taken lightly. The Hunter does not produce that awful stuff.
