All this did was make continuous noise in the bathroom. The plug-in from the grocery store was far superior.

Item came damaged - manufacturer and seller both declined to provided assistance. Only Amazon responded positively. I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT OR BUY FROM AIR-N-WATER.COM

This item was shipped ground which could have been part of the problem: It arrived broken with the metal dehumidifier unit coming out the bottom-the housing it was supposed to be attached to was in 4 pieces. I did plug it in briefly which registered 61% humidity (enough reason to invest). Yet when I called the company to find out where the black hose attached-not in the directions, no one answered the phone. Just a message machine. If someone had answered, I would have wanted to know if there was an authorized service center or parts available for repair of this. Instead I returned to Amazon for refund :(

I may be the lucky owner of a unit like the ones other reviewers received damaged with the compressor detached from the unit and probably returned :)

I bought it from a liquidator as "new" (broken but unused) for so I knew I'm getting a damaged unit with the bottom broken off.

I disassembled it completely at home to see if there would be further damage and there was. Many of the plastic connections/joints were either cracked or broken. The type of plastic used is stiff but frail and it cracks easily. The engineering genious who designed the plastic assembly probably never had to put it together or touched the materials used. The casing is way overcomplicated and consists of too many parts for a squarish box that only houses a compressor, a heat exchanger and a fan...

After some creative work I was able to put it together and the unit actually works quite well. However, based on my look inside the unit I would probably not want to buy it if I had to pay full price. For the less than $30 I paid for mine delivered I'd say it's a keeper :). I had a LG 45 pint at home at the same time and the LG looks much better put together. The Soleus is marginally more quiet on its lowest speed, but not enough to make a real difference or sway you one way or another. Both units are too noisy to keep in a quiet living space (would be fine in a basement or in a noisy environment). The LG comes with 5 year warranty and everything on it is more ergonomic, especially the part one uses most - the water tray. The Soleus has more features. Both did a good job removing moisture but they seem to do it differently. The Soleus blows a strong air stream up or back that is rather hot. On the LG you I can barely feel the air coming out and it does not get as hot. The Soleus has very loud alarm beeps when the tray is taken out, which I think is unecessary. Also, I had to read the manual to figure out what the settings do, where the LG is pretty much self explanatory.

Like many others who have reviewed this air "purifier" & I use that term loosely. I should have done my homework before purchase. I bought 1 of these for around $30, and 2 "Tower types" which were $60 apiece. I don't see much difference in the air quality in the rooms these are placed in. I leave them running 24/7.
The filters are $15 each or $25 for a 2 pack in my area. I have dogs and these filters need replaced at least once a month.
I'm tossing them out and springing for a decent one with a removeable and reusable filter.

After returning my Honeywell hht-081 purifier because it was louder than living next to the airport, I'm very pleased with this one.
It's exactly what I needed... a quiet opeating, effective, small air purifier. It's not going to get your whole home fresh, and it says so on the box, so don't buy it in place of a larger purifier if that's what you need.
It WILL reduce allergens in the home, but works best in smaller rooms (i.e. 11' x 10')

Regarding filter replacement... People, get over it. That's how any (good) purifier works. The ones with "permanent" filters that you're supposed to vaccum... Yeah, a vaccum is going to get it good as new every time, isn't it? *shakes head* You just have to take into consideration that in order to operate this you will have to buy and replace the filter on occasion. Just like when you buy a car, you have to buy gas to make it work.

We hade hade this thing for about 4 years. It was a HEAP cleaner, but I found it was not cleaning well. So, I made my own .3 stage flitter. Then, I found how good it was! My flitter showed me that the Holmes was the best air cleaner ever! { cenbared to my ORECK} every Holmes made thing has done well, but not their HEAP air cleaners. Almost all all cleaner crops say that the so called HEAP flitter is the best. So if you buy this air cleaner, you will have to make your own fliter.

I live in a 10'*10' room which is quite small. But this humidifier has no effect on making the air of my room wet but it did make the table which I placed it very wet! And I filled it with purified water but it ran out of water in 2 hours! Maybe suitable for car I think.

I generally like this product. It does what it says it will do, which is to generate mist. It is not noisy, but it is not quiet either, as is claimed. It emits a high-pitched whine which my co-workers in adjacent cubes can hear, though they say they can tune it out. I probably will not use it at work, since I don't want to irritate anybody.
