Very pleased with this fan, although the assembly instructions are not as clear as they should be. (The diagrams are too small and the parts are not clearly identified.) However, I've replaced three smaller fans with this one large one, and it's working wonderfully. It is very quiet, and I'm particularly impressed that the oscillation is controlled by the remote, so one can direct the fan any direction without leaving one's chair! To a disabled person going through hot flashes, this fan is perfect!

I bought two of these fans in total desperation because of the heat and humidity this summer (2005). They have been literal life savers. I have one in my bedroom and one in my office. I spend a lot of time in both rooms and both were sweltering. Even though I have AC in my home, it doesnt reach those two rooms and I was dying.

The fans are tall, sturdy and well built. They were easy to assemble; the directions were clear and I had them both assembled in no time which is saying something for me. :)

I haven't turned the fans on "high" because low usually is enough to keep those rooms cool. On occasion I've turned them up to medium but that is so powerful, I have to bat down all the loose things before I do.

The variety of oscillation is good (there are 3 choices), and there are different modes you can use (nature, normal, etc.) They are noisy but it is white noise that lulls instead of interrupts when it is on low. Also the remote controls are a real treat because I can turn them on from a distance, or change the speed, oscillation, etc.

There is a timer that I haven't used yet but all in all, I think these fans were a great buy over anything I've seen in retail outlets. They are also money saving over AC which I find not as comfortable in those two rooms as these fans are. Plus I'm saving electricity by using fans instead of AC.

If you really need a good, sturdy fan to beat the heat/humidity - I recommend this one.

I bought this for my mother. She loves it! She was very pleased with the performance. But remember, it is not an air conditioner. If you are looking for something cooler with winter type temperature, get and air conditioner.

I live in a dry, desert region in Southern California and the summers can get over 100o easily. The cost of running your AC here in astronomical and the fact that this unit uses only 57 watts on the high setting is already saving me tons of money.
The air purifier aspect seems to be working well. The air quality here is horrible, but since I've been using the FH-776, I've noticed it's somewhat easier to breathe.
Fan and air cooling ability? Very, very good. The fan can be set to swing mode so it'll get more coverage. The ice packs it comes with are somewhat useless(I just add ice cubes to the water tank), but the cold compress helps(it sits just above the water tank to help cool any evaporating air and cools it more before being blown out).
I mostly use it in a room of about 450 sq ft and it does ok during the day. To feel its effects during the day, you need to be sitting right in the air path, which feels great. I run it the most at night in front of a window(to pull in cool air) and the whole room is nice and cool by morning.
It's very portable: four wheel casters and side handles for easy moving and it can be put in a corner when not using it. The removable filter can be cleaned quickly and easily. The water tank is very accessible and will shut off if you open it to fill it up.
The modes you can run it in are good: nature, breeze, sleep. Nature has a consistent flow of air. Breeze will change just like actual breezes: strong one second, weak the next. Sleep mode automatically changes from off, low, med and high at varied intervals.
Finally, the 7.5 hour timer is great. I've set it right before going to bed and even after it had shut off, it still had some water in the tank when I got up.
Oh yeah, and the remote comes in very handy. The only button missing on the remote is to turn on the air purifier aspect, but that's ok.

I put this air-Purifier???? in a small bathroom,It does not seem to remove any odors that are found in bath rooms,a very good nite light tho.
Don't waste your money

I bought four of these ionic air purifiers due to the above average reviews of them. So far I cannot really tell how well they are working. In the first month, they generates some really funny smell (like old burning oil) probably due to the ozone it emitted. Had to unplug some of them due to strong smell. They seem to work better after a while, especially in small bathrooms and in the kitchen. Better not to put them close to where people often stay (like living room). Do not believe the ozone is good for you. Keep cleaning the metal strips, they are not real dirty but seem to work better if you clean them often. Like the fact that an extra strip comes with each air ionizer. Do believe if you want to clean up a large area, you may be better off to get an Oreck air cleaner or a Honeywell hepa air cleaner. Sears has a plasma air cleaner (with both ion and cation) that seems to smell much better but is very expensive.

We've owned two of these for about a year, and they both work perfectly. One is in a small utility room and contends with the cat's litter box. The room is definitely much fresher using this unit. We keep the other in the living room and don't notice much difference one way or the other. These are low-capacity units, not meant for large rooms. They cover both outlets of a two-outlet plug, so beware of this. And, as others have noted, the nightlight can't be turned off separately. This doesn't bother us since we put the units where we had nighlights previously. Overall, great value for the money.

I have several different air purifiers, by Bionaire, Whirlpool and Panasonic. The Bionaires (I have two) have been excellent but according to Amazon users, Bionaire is recently having reliability trouble with that model (# 1175). Thus, when it came time to buy another purifier, I chose this Panasonic for a small room (about 200 sq. ft) and the large Whirlpool for our MBR (400 sq. ft.). We've been using the Panasonic for about a month, now. The design is excellent. It's reasonable attractive, convenient, quiet and effective. I particularly like the form factor (comparatively thin). An LED display shows a red/green bar graph of the amount of particulate matter in the air, as measured by a sensor in the unit. This feature has been educational, as well as somewhat entertaining (okay, I'm easily amused). For example, if I pick a book off a shelf and the display turns more red, I know it's probably time to dust the bookshelves. Bottom line: It's only been a month but, so far, I'm a happy customer.

I have three parrots in a room, and this unit is exactly what I was looking for. I used a large Honeywell HEPA air filter in the past, but that was quite a bit louder and eventually burned out. I especially like the automatic air sensor feature on the Panasonic, which cycles the unit on and off depending on the amount of dust in the air. This feature actually works, since I can see the air rating lights change from green to red when I go into the room and move things around (stirring up dust). I'm considering buying another one for my bedroom.

This air filter for the Panasonic purifer is excellent. It is very hard to find these, but this seller came through for me! My daughter is an asthmatic and must have clean air to breathe! This filter works amazingly well!

Electrostatically removing particles works okay, but it requires a fan to move air over the grille. As others have mention consumer reports tested this product at it removed almost nothing from the air. It rated the lowest out of all the air cleaners they tested.

So don't waste your money on this product. If you want an electrostatic air cleaner find one with a fan. Before you buy you should really go read the online Consumer Reports report because a lot of air cleaners don't work very well.

I purchased this after an informercial. My warrenty was for 3 years. Lucky for me, since 14 months after receiving the unit it died with no warning.

The manufacture made me return it AT MY OWN EXPENSE and then they sent me a new unit. Took 2 months.

Well, the new unit arrived 8 days ago. It died an hour ago. I called the customer service and refused to pay to send it back AGAIN.

They ARE sending me out a new unit (again), but it will take up to 10 business days to receive. They agreed to send a pre-paid shipping label this time too. (Could take a month though.)

Meanwhile, I have nothing. After reading the reviews below, I could have kicked myself. I subscribe to the online version of Consumer Reports so did what another did...looked it up. Consumer Reports says this Ionic Breeze only "removes a few particles from the air", nothing else. They also did the test, as the infomercial showed, of putting the Breeze in an enclosed space with smoke and turned it on. It did NOT do what the infomercial said. It did not "power through smoke". It did nothing.

I am taking the advice of Consumer Reports. I am refunding my money on the Breeze and purchasing "the high-scoring Friedrich C-90A and Whirlpool AP45030HO models" which DOES work...and work well.

Avoid the Ionic Breeze unit, for the home AND/OR the car.

It really does work, though it's not a miracle air cleaner or anything. Over time, it picks up noticeable amount of dust and you should be able to notice about less dust collecting on your items. However, it costs way too much and would be a marginal recommend, even at half the price. If you have major problems with dust, especially in a computer room, and you have a nagging cough for whatever reason .. give this a try and use it for many months, and you should be able to look back and say .. "yeah, it did help".
