This thing is a piece of junk. The only thing it does is manufacture dust and arc.

I have returned this machine 3 times and every time it's my fault, of course, I'm cleaning it wrong.

It's no different than all the other brands; pure hype.

Only this hype cost me $300.00

I ordered one of these straight from the oreck website. I must say that in 24 hours I do notice a difference. I am noticing with the Oreck that my sinuses have cleared up. There seems to be less dust and odor in the air, so I'd say it does what it is supposed to.

I have used two other air purifers in the past, one from Sears, and the other from Target. The Target one did not last six months and seemed to be a glorified fan that blew dust around, and the Kenmore started making wheezing sounds after 2 years of use. I hope that this one lasts longer.

I bought the Oreck air purifier because my cat was always sneezing. Ever since I bought the Oreck air purifier, his sneezing has stopped. I have also had the Sharper Image Ionic Breeze, which did nothing. I can really tell a difference with the Oreck!

This item is compact, yet powerful enough and requires minimal cleaning. There are no filters to replace, so once you buy you only pay some pennies on electricity. It also produces small amounts of ozone, which is an excellent odor remover. Unfortunately, the ozone isn't optional, and too much of it isn't healthy.

It has a "high" and "low" state, and a fan which could be turned off.

What I like about it is that it can be placed anywhere in the house, since it's small. Compare that to the Ionic Breeze Quadra ionic towers, which need a lot of space.

As a bonus, you can connect it to the car - even leave it overnight (but you would have to open the windows in the morning to let the ozone out). In my opinion, it is too big for a car - but I have a small compact car, not a SUV. It can be used to remove odors from cars (or rooms), since the ozone does that.

What I wished were differently - as I've written - is the ozone output to be made optional.

Overall, this is a worthy investment, I heard about people ordering a buch of them - five or so (one for each room) - it is cheaper and healthier than an expensive big home unit.

I've gone through a lot of humidifiers as I get unhappy with their output and performance. I've been very satisfied with this unit from Vornado. It humidifies a large area quickly and maintains the humidity without multiple fillings per day, I usually just have to fill it once.

The water containers are meant to be easy to fill, and from a faucet are but you won't have much luck filling them faster from your tub as you would on other models. Plus, the open mouth requires you to be a little more careful with dropping them back into the unit. Everything's plastic and sturdy.

Sound wise, it's not too loud. It has it's moments right when you fill it our turn it on for the first time, but it's rather quiet otherwise. There is some noise and unless you want some small white noise while you sleep, I'd leave it in another room.

While you may see this unit a lot in Bed Bath and Beyond and Linnens and Things those two stores do a horrible job of maintaining filters and additives for it or any other humidifier that the sell. Buy some spare ones here, you'll save about $4 or $5 dollars and use an additive on each fill as you would a normal unit.

As for it's airwashing ability, it doesn't hurt. I can't tell you for sure if it's a good replacement for normal air cleaner, it's certainly a little quieter. As I have cats I have a host of aircleaning products and bought this with aircleaning and humidification in mind, but more for the humidification first and air cleaning second. It's constant recycling of the air pulls the warm air down and recirculates it. I wouldn't buy this as your sole unit for air cleaning, but a nice add on in the winter if you need humidification.

I've really been quite surprised at the amount of coverage I get with this unit. I would definitely recommend you try it before you spen $100+ on console units which do a similar/less job of humidification.

Designed for neutralizing heavy odors of smoke and dog kennels, clubs, hotels, basements, breakrooms, etc. this unit is battery-operated (2 Cs), noiseless and unobtrusive. It can be set to operate for 12 or 24 hrs. at 7, 15, or 25 minutes. Much, much better than the residential units now being sold.

For a basic filter this one's pretty good. I used it during a construction project in my home. There was a lot of drywall dust and it did a good job of filtering the air. However the filters did get dirty and I had to replace them after just a few days of the work. I can't listen to the radio or tv with it on though. If you need a product that you need to run frequently you may want to look for a quiter one.

My son always woke up stuffy in the morning and - not knowing anything about air cleaners - began looking at their stats. This unit seemed to be the best in terms of circulating air and cleaning the air. Its not a flashy looking unit but it worked so well I bought a second unit for downstairs...

I have had the first one for over 6 months and even with almost constant use it works as well as it did the first day. The second one is everal months newer and that one has been problem free as well.

I will say the unit it fairly large - it usually doesnt go unoticed in a room. That said...its not the size of a building or anything like that...but it is larger than some units. I have it fairly out of the way in one room but in my sons room, being a smaller room, its more obvious.

About noise: Its not a silent unit. The units that claim to be silent are not cleaners but ionizers and their effctiveness according to consumer reports is doubtful. I also looked at them when I was buying...but they did mention to clean the unit if you notice *arcing*... arcing is what happens when you put metal in a microwave. Perhaps the chance of this happening are low but it was a definite minus in my book...they also do not filter the air.

As far as this unit and noise; there is noise but it is of the white noise variety. On high you would have to turn up a TV, on low its easier to forget your hearing it, it becomes background and I find it to drown out outside noise. I like it. And after the first few days of running it on high I mostly keep it on low - except after dusting or cleaning the room.

This is an excellent unit and after running it a few days, take a look at the filter. You will be glad you got it. What it collects is impressive. I will probably buy one more in the near future for a second bedroomm

I use the Vornado AQS35 filter systems and they are fabulous. We have two filter systems, one in the "bird" room where I keep my Cockatiels (and my computer), and the other upstairs near our bedrooms. The bird room is clean as can be and at the end of the day when I clean cages I only sweep up spilled pellets and seeds. I have never been bothered by Cockatiel or any other bird dander since I got the Vornado filter systems, and I have allergies. My office supplied a less effective filtration system, so I notice the air quality right away when I arrive at work. Don't give up your bird, get an air filtration system from Vornado.

Oh yes, they are quiet. The system makes a comforting sound, something like the distant roar of the ocean when you are at the beach, so your sleep will not be disturbed if you have one in your bedroom. In fact, I often think of it as "white" noise for street noises. As one other reviewer said, they are perfect for city living (I live right under the National Airport flyway), but will work with pollen, mold and mildew particles in the country.
