AWESOME!!!
Great Air Purifier! If you are looking to an energy efficient, quiet, not too expensive and technically advanced air purifier then this is the one for you!
I have some bad allegories to juniper pollen. We had a small ionic filter system for the bedroom that just wasn't doing the job. Sure it would look like it was cleaning the air, but seemed like only a few feet away it did nothing. Bought one of these Bio-Fresh systems and it changed the room! It even tells you how bad/polluted your air is around unit. My wife can spray her perfume 15 feet away and it will peg the particle meter on the unit. The unit is very quiet compared to some of the other fan type units and with the brushless motor the energy usage is very low.
I would like to get one in every room of the house, but would be too expensive. Would recommend this one to everyone!

Ionic Tower UVWe've had the Ionic Tower UV for over three weeks now, and we're keeping it. I'm not going to sit here and claim it works mircles, but can tell you the air quality is better. Ok, maybe I can't tell, but my girlfriend with asthma can. It took about a week before she really noticed a difference. Hasn't had an attack since week two -- she ususally has one every other day or so.
This purifier is rated to clean an 800 square foot area, or about the size of a small/medium two-bedroom apartment. Compare that to the 500 square foot area of the more expensive Sharper Image without UV and there is no comparison. The larger unit offered by Sharper Image with UV does compare, but it's price tag is well over twice the price as this one -- no wonder they'll give you half off a second purifier.
When viewing the Ionic Tower UV online, I thought it looked great. I was suprised when I received it -- it looks even better -- and no, I don't work for the company. It is of the highest quality, and looks like a work of art.
For the most part it is silent. During it's normal operation you can only barely hear it within five feet. If you're even closer, you can hear it running thru it's cycle, where it turns on for about 20 seconds and then turns off for 2 seconds (low buzzing sound).
When it gets dirty it does make a crackling sound similar to that of a bug zapper/egg frying, which is slightly irritating. That is easily rectified by a quick cleaning. It's very easy to clean and only takes about a minute -- take this from a person who hates to clean things. Just take out the filter consisting of three long metalic bars and wipe off the dust. It's recommened that you clean it every five days, but it usually starts crackling after three.
Overall, I'm very pleased and highly recommend this tower.

Great value - works wellOriginally I purchased an IFD air purifier. They simply don't work.
To replace the IFD air purifier I purchase the Honeywell 17000. The unit works really well at removing dust and other airborn particles. The unit is not as "whisper quiet" as the model name would suggest - but I do not have trouble sleeping while it is on. It sounds like a small box fan on a low setting - which is not too bad at all really.
For the price - I would highly recommend this unit over others.

Mine Lasted 6 Years!!!!!I just bought my second Honeywell air cleaner. Actually I bought 2 more. I bought one 6 years ago and ran it constantly. The motor is finally wearing out. This air cleaner worked great in my daughter's bedroom... she is severely allergic to dust and she has related asthma. It works so well that every week when I go to dust her room, there wasn't much dust to remove. I am buying one for my bedroom as well. I'd like to have one in every room of the house! Awesome product for a great price!
Great quality, great product!Although this is a louder unit than I had hoped, it does an excellent job, and has improved our air quality substantially. We've noticed vast improvements in our allergies. For the price, it's really a great buy. I am going to buy one for each room.

Correct air cleaner model numbers listed hereThe "Features:" and "Product Discription" do not list the correct Honeywell air cleaner model numbers that use this filter. Here is the "Replacement Filter Table" on the box of the HRF-11. The first number is the Air Purifier series followed by the # of filters required in parenthesis. The last, right number is for the HEPA filter model # it replaces:
10500 (2) 20500
10590 (1) 20590
17000 (2) 20500
50100 (1) 20590
As another reviewer has already noted, this is not really a 'permanent' filter because it must be replaced every 3-5 years under normal use, just like the non-permanent filter that originally came with the air cleaner.
I'm giving it 4 stars for two reasons: 1. Because I really do not find a difference in the way this works yet compared to the filter that came with my 17000; and 2. My machine requires two of these so the air actually goes through less HEPA material than the one-piece filter that came with the machine [casing and spacer where HEPA material would be if a one piece filter]. Only time will tell if I have to replace this sooner than I would for a one piece filter (yearly) due to it's usage in a room with a wood stove.

Good replacement but semi-permanent onlyI have 2 Honeywell 50100 air purifiers and bought 2 of these as replacement HEPA filter for the originals. The HRF-11 is the new "permanent" replacement filter and is a good choice.
However, I rated this 4-star only despite fitting nicely in the 50100. The product's statement of "permanent" is misleading, though you can clean the filter twice a year with a vacum cleaner, the manual still recommends that you replace the filter every 3 to 5 years under normal usage.
I think KAZ (who licenses the Honeywell brand from Honeywell) is simply asking to be sued for labeling a product like this. I'll use the words "extended life" if I were them to avoid law suits.
Other than that, its a great product and is cheaper than those throw-away type filters.

WORST EVER Never buy this item you should get the Sunpentown Portable Evaporative Air Cooler with FREE built in air purifier because I got this item and doesn't even work. The supertown is much better and to save more buy it used that what I did.
4-In-1 CoolerLet me start from the cooler, this obviously is not an air conditioner, you have to put water in the tank to cool the air, even that, you won't be able to tell much different between this and a regular electric fan, what I do is make lots of ice cubes and mix them with water, this way you can feel cooler breeze of air. The unit came with two ice packs, didn't know what they were, you were supposed to put them in your freezer for a period of time, then put them in the water, tried that, could't tell the difference. The humifider feature is somewhat misleading, since you cannot run the humidifer without running the fan or the cooler, that annoys me since I want to use it in the Winter, so I have to put this thing facing the wall and run it, I found out that I could even put some hot tap water in the tank, worked better this way. I don't know if the ionizer helps or not, but I do have it on all the time. I like the remote control that comes with it, you can adjust everything with a button press. I bought this for $80 plus shipping when it was on sale, overall I am satisfied.
Not bad for what it isThis fan works well, the "cooler" funtion is only effective if it isn't hot and humid already, but the fan is excelent.

OxygenFresh Spire Fan with Temperature Sensor (SI120)
Made by Sharper Image
- New OxygenFresh Spire Fan features OzoneGuard front grill to help reduce smog as its breeze cools the room.
- Reduces a significant level of ozone smog pollution by converting ground-level ozone (O3) to oxygen (O2) on contact.
- Vertical spinning drum of more than 100 tiny fan blades oscillates 70° to create a sweeping breeze that blows from 16 to 37 inches above floor level.
- Choose low, medium or high fan speed. Alternating-speed mode simulates the ever-changing ebb and flow of a natural breeze.
- "Sleep" setting intersperses "natural" breezes with longer periods of stillness, gently coaxing you to sleep; an auto-shutoff timer can be set in 30-minute increments up to 7 1/2 hours.

Seems to work great right out of the boxI just purchased this item today directly from Sharper Image. Immediately after I got home, I noticed the temperature inside was several degrees hotter than outside, the remote said 83 degrees F.
About 10 minutes after it was up and running it had already cooled a couple of degrees. There was no mothball smell the previous reviewer had experienced, only the new plastic chemical smell.
The only downside to this unit is that it does not actively cool the air. I haven't noticed any "fresh" smell of "clean oxygen", but I'm sure something is working.
All in all, I felt it was a good investment for my household, and not quite as spendy as the Ionic Breeze model.

great fan if you dont mind the smell of mothballs for a few daysi purchased this fan directly from sharper image may 15th, 2006. as soon as i removed it from the shipping container, i smelled the pungent odor of what seemed mothball. for a fan that is being advertised as an ozone to oxygen converter, the strong ordor of outgassing chemicals is not appealing. today is the third day since i purchased it, and i can still smell the outgassing of polymers when I walk into the room. i will keep it for a week or so to see if the odor dissipates overtime.
other than the strong mothball odor, the fan works great. it cools down the room nicely, it is quiet, it is compact, and it looks great. the remote has a digital readout that displays the room temperature and set temperature. it has large buttons that are easy to work.
i will update this posting in a week to see if i decided to keep it or return it.
new entry: may 29, 2006.
it has been almost 2 wks since i purchased this fan, see my initial comments above. i have decided to keep the fan as the mothball odor has mostly dissipated. i am assuming that with time, it will be completely gone. in the mean time, it is slightly noticeable when the fan is first turned on.

Very DisappointedI purchased this unit after comparing several makers and models. It worked wonderfully...for one day. Within twenty-four hours the fan stopped working. The lights lit up and everything appeared to be appropriately configured, but it would not work.
Great during the 2 days it workedI picked this air cleaner after researching and finding that this was rated second best overall, the number one rated filter was way too expensive (over $700). After taking it out of the box and putting in the filters, I closed the cover only to find that the "Door Ajar" indicator would not turn off so the unit couldn't be turned on. I decided to press on the spot where the door sensor was, and this alleviated the problem. Then I turned it on high for the day. It was pretty noisy, but it got the job done. At night I put it in sleep mode, which didn't bother me at all. The next morning I noticed it was unusually quiet and found that it had malfunctioned. The top of the unit, where the infrared receiver was located, was constantly lit up acting as if the remote was sending a signal to the unit. The digital display showed a solitary digit "9" and none of the buttons worked. I could not turn it on. I unplugged it and replugged it and still showed the same malfunction. I am returning this to get another one. Hopefully it works out. I keep everyone posted on how the new one works out.
Good price - but maybe you can find it cheaperI don't know if it was a fluke or what, but I found this product (the two-pack) for $9.99 at a Best Buy in Reston, VA in December 2005. I haven't found anything near that price on the internet. Check your local Best Buy before ordering.
And by the way, my husband has severe allergies to just about everything and he's been able to breath much easier since we got this purifier.

Yes, it IS beautifully flawed.Sure it's pretty, but it's also pretty useless. Like Hobbs (another reviewer) noted, the knob to hold the fan at a particular angle DOESN'T hold. So it blows air where IT wants, not where I want. Obviously, this is a problematic product. I should have known better, given how many "factory reconditioned" ones I have seen available. Gee, wonder why the factory has so many available to recondition. Dumb me for buying it. Do yourself a favor and find a real vintage fan at a thrift store.
Silent but flimsy - 4 stars is not what I would like to rate it.This fan is extremely solid looking, and powerful, as well as attractive, but behaves strangely. The base and the fan seem to be assembled with some sort of floating mechanism that makes the fan seem like it just wobbles around sometimes. You can tell the second you take it out of the box. In spite of the wobbly assembly, the thing really pushes air around really well, and my air conditioning no longer seems 'stale'. I'm sure there are other fans that are more powerful, solid, inexpensive and definitely lightweight, but none are as cool looking as this one.
(Later on, after a customer inquiry to Vornados web site)
As it turns out, the fan is not supposed to be wobbly, but instead should be very sturdy. The rep told me to pack it up and send it back to the factory. That's pretty inconvenient, because this thing is going to cost me about 20 bucks to ship, let along the packaging that is going to have to be carefully engineered. Dont buy this. The situation now stinks, and by the time I get the new one, I will have paid way more than it is worth. As a matter of fact, I am sending it back to Amazon, and they can pay for the shipping label. Thanks, Amazon, for a great message board for me to vent on.

Good, not great..Pros: moves a lot of air, cool retro look is appealing, nice low frequency sound for those that like the white noise of a fan while they sleep, modestly priced for a product with a lot of steel content.
Cons: cheap plastic switch that feels destined to break before long, a little difficult to clean but this isn't much different from every other fan I've owned. One of the two I own has something loose in the motor housing that results in a metal to metal bell tone when it's oscillating. Probably something I can fix but at only about three months old, something I shouldn't have to deal with.
Bottom line: a good fan with a great look but a little pricey relative to comparable plastic fans (so is everything with high steel content lately). Long term reliability is a question mark. If all you want is a fan to move some air, this isn't the fan for you.

I also own a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze Quadra GP and this Bio fresh Ultra destroys the Sharper Image. The Sharper Image Ionic breeze will go into storage. Since owning this for 2 days my house is allergy free this air cleaner is by far the best air cleaner out for the price. Very easy to use and looks great. The air quality monitor is unbelievable!!
