Air Purifiers Review Amazing
This well-built, powerful, well-designed filter does exactly what it claims to do. We live in an apartment in Manhattan and the kitchen lacks proper ventilation so any kind of cooking creates odors which linger for days or which requires the window being opened, a Vornado fan being used to draw in fresh air and opening the front door to create a draft, sending the aromas into the hallway and sharing them with all our next door neighbours. Less than ideal. Now we start to grill or cook, turn the AQS35 on full blast and the odors are dealt with in real time. The air is kept constantly clean. Amazing.

Additionally, Manhattan apartments accumulate enormous amounts of dust (maybe apartments in other parts of the country do too but I wouldn't know about that) due to the dry air and heat. I leave this little guy on during the day while I'm away and the apartment air is cleaned, making coming home even more of a joy. Well done Vornado. Superb product.

Air Purifiers Review Nice!

This filter truly scrubs the room well... After about 2 hours at full speed, I walked into the room, took a deep breath, and it felt like a real relief.

Air Purifiers Review First Rate!
I purchased the Vornado AQS35 in December 2003, and have no regrets! Our home is quite small, and this unit services the living room, dining room and study (in its entirety, an open,L-shaped area approximately 250 square feet). I chose the Vornado AQS35 because of its square-footage cleaning capacity, and especially for its small footprint. It's a good-looking machine that fits well in our tiny house! I haven't read any of the recent reviews (there were not many when I purchased it), but I would like to address some of the complaints I remember reading. #1: It's loud. (?) O.K., I've never had one before so I have nothing to compare it to. I hear it when it's on, I also notice when it's off. Put it right next to the television or a stereo speaker and likely you'll be fine. I have mine on the highest setting right now (quick-clean, #5), and I can hear the dog's tags and the cat's bell from the farthest place in the house (they're in the kitchen, drinking spilled milk)! #2: The HEPA filter doesn't last long and is expensive to replace. One of the things I looked at before I purchased the Vornado was the cost of replacement filters. Yes, they are all expensive. I'd say it was around the middle or the lower end of the pack as far as filter replacement cost goes. I'd suggest shopping around. I just replaced the original HEPA filter today (after 10 months of non-stop usage). The filter replacements I researched ranged from $45 USD - $69 USD (most were closer to $69). I ended up purchasing the replacement filter for just under $58 (shipping included). I have no problem with the cost, or the life of the HEPA filter. I use the vacuum on the pre-filter once or twice a month, and it's UNBELIEVABLE how much hair and dust accumulate on that! Remember, small house and a couple pets and three people. I don't know that Vornado recommends vacuuming the pre-filter, but I do it, and I bet it extends the life of the HEPA (at least a bit). #3: The rubber bands used to hold in the filter and pre-filter are flimsey. Well, yes they are. They haven't snapped yet, but I'm sure I'll replace them soon. A heavy-duty band would be nice, but it's not essential to the main purpose of the unit itself. I've got a number of ideas about how to replace it when it DOES go. All in all, this is a great machine! It looks good, does its job well and unobtrusively. I'm not breathing in all that hair and dirt and dusting has become way less frequent. A definate buy as far as I'm concerned!

Air Purifiers Review DISSATISFIED, AM RETURNING BOTH ITEMS PURCHASED!!!
This is my first purchase on Amazon and I am satisfied with the timely delivery of my purchased product. However, I am very dissatisfied with the quality of this product. First, the removable rear casing, which allows access to the filter, does not fit properly on both units I purchased. Once the rear casing is removed it takes some force to get it back into place. Secondly, Amazon promotes this product to operate with "whisper-quiet operation". This statement is a farce. This product produces much more noise than my upright rotary house fan, both in the turbo setting and the quiet setting. I have made the mistake of purchasing two (2) of these Honeywell Enviracare 60000 Tower Air Purifiers for my family. I will not make the mistake of keeping them and will be returning them very shortly. This product is best used as a stationary low speed fan. Please note, in both the turbo and quiet settings this item does not produce the ionization & filtration that you expect when comparing this item with other similar items retailing at the same MSRP listing. Third, this products filter is not sanitary. The filter is of a honeycomb designed column that when cleaning you merely tap out the debris, vacuum and replace for further use. The core of this filter is impossible to access for thorough cleaning. Again, I can't believe the fact that this product claims to operate under "whisper-quiet operation" and it is hard to believe that Honeywell and Amazon dare to promote this item as being able to retail for $179.00. I am not being paid to criticize this product and am an independent consumer who thinks people should know the facts of this product.

Air Purifiers Review A bit too noisy
The unit is a bit too noisy, so much that it is very annoying if not on the low setting (but still noisy). I've had it several months, and have found it to be reliable, but not that good of a cleaner. It is a bit large, but not heavy. It's probably best for a room in which you wish to circulate air, with a small bit of purifying needed.

Air Purifiers Review Great Unit
Works very well. Only drawback it's large - but stands upright.
Well worth the money and quit in the low speed.

Air Purifiers Review ...
Don't waste your money.

Very poor quality. Doesn't help to cool very much. Difficult to clean, and refill.

You can't remove the inside unit to add water. You litterally have to pour it in. Even if adding the frozen compress into the unit, it does very little to help cool down a room. If you want to cool down a VERY SMALL sized room, this may help, otherwise don't bother. I tried using it for my bedroom which is pretty average sized, and my fan worked much better than this.

Air Purifiers Review BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK
After reviewing this product first hand I am not impressed.
I did not expect the dramatic cooling of an air conditioner. I did however expect this product to be more useful than a fan.

Water compartment needs to be filled often and is cumbersome(located at the bottom). I found my self dragging jugs of water to fill water compartment. After which you must bend over and insert your hand to pour blindly into a water tray.

Ice packs given in package can be found at local odds and ins stores for about $1.99 and melt quickly. Display panel is hard to read with small light font. Best of all my stand up fan that was purchased for $49 cools room better than this $119.00 plus shipping $20-$30 cooler.

I purchased this cooler for a family member that has respiratory problems. This individual uses oxygen which takes allot of watts. As a method of cooling and energy consumption savings I was drawn to this product. I did not use heating feature in that weather did not permit.

In general I have found swap/commercial "coolers" do not work as advertised. The appeal of a cost effective cooling device that is portable and conserves energy seems to be a pipe dream!

Air Purifiers Review Cool product
What attracted me to this product: multiseason multipurpose! A heater, fan and air cooler in one appliance.

(*Have not tried the heater feature yet-- our recent weather is too hot to make this feasible-- check back in
6 mos if you want to know my impressions of that.)

Initial reservations: Lack of consumer reviews, uncertainty whether a swamp cooler could actually cool the air
in the climate where I live (Portland, OR), no "Consumer Reports" writeup on swamp coolers.

Unexpected qualities: The air cleaning feature (negative ion generator) really does freshen the air-- enough
to clear my stuffy sinuses and neutralize annoying smells like catbox, deep fry oil, and that weird smell the
vacuum cleaner makes. Unit looks good & rolls easily away into small corner when not in use. The icepacks/
icebar are a great design improvement to the traditional "swamp cooler" concept (and can be borrowed to
chill your lunch.) Remote is more handy than anticipated. Overall awesome value for the price.

The web sez that swamp coolers work best when & where the relative humidity is below 55%. They will work
at a higher RH, just not as effectively. You can find the RH & temperature stats for your area on weather
websites. Don't be deterred just b/c yr area has "average RH" over 55%, as we do here in Portland. On closer
examination of the numbers, I found that our hottest days are typically also the most dry, quite below 50%.

Whirlwind cooling is not like "real" AC; the effect is much subtler, takes a few minutes to be felt, and requires
fresh air input (I.e. open windows on each side of a room). It's not so much an objective BTU type of deal so
much as a subjective sense of coolness. I actually appreciate this; AC often makes me feel chilled and raw in
the throat.

Minor design issues: For as frequently as one needs to refill the water tank, the tank is rather inconveniently
situated for filling using any pitcher, bucket or jug in my house (the best thing we've found so far has been
an empty whiskey bottle). Indeed, it almost seems designed to be filled using a hose, which is not something
often kept indoors. Why not a removable reservoir, like many humidifiers/dehumidifiers? Or at least an
accessory (port? hose? special long spouted watering can?) of some kind for easier filling... Turning the unit
OFF often doesn't turn it all the way off; it seems to want to stay in a standby mode unless you unplug it
altogether. Power cable is shorter than I like.

I ordered my Whirlwind from American eSuperstore on 5/27/05. I first tried to order through their site, but it
locked up, so I called the toll free #. The product was out of stock at the time and so I did not receive it until
6/20/05. It cost $119.00 plus 19.99 shipping, but if you go to their customer reviews page you can find a
code for $10 off.

Air Purifiers Review Effective and affordable
I purchased one and in one night, my daughter was breathing better (she has asthma), but to test it I then moved it into my bedroom for the following night and my allergies were vastly improved.
In addition, we were remodeling our kitchen, tearing out walls and this unit cleaned up the construction dust very well. Very effective in clearing out dust and allergens.

I bought a second unit.

4 stars instead of 5 because the LED display is very bright. I used a narrrow strip of 95% window tint to cover up the LED display so my daughter could sleep at night.

Air Purifiers Review Trouble-free and effective
I purchased this model for my living room and the smaller-sized model for my bedroom, both from J&R. I'd guess the majority of consumers purchase a purifier for some peace of mind if you have a lot of pets or a lot of smoke and to tweak the body towards better health - these purifiers have done just that for me and my roommate.

The devices are relatively silent at the lowest settings [best comparison: think of two humans blowing air lightly through their lips]; the low setting is all you will need for daily operation. At full blast, the models sound like modern hair dryers, but we only use these settings for a few minutes when we are getting ready to have company or if we are chain smoking.

The air quality monitor [on the F-P20HU1] is actually fun. Feedback on appliances is great...we like to joke about the "impurity" of our apartment when we have a full red reading and become encouraged as the purifier brings it back to the green reading of "purity." A silly thing, but something you get from products you like.

The controls are intuitive and the design is non-invasive, with a small footprint. The purifiers are cat-cornered to our white-painted walls, blending easily into the apartment landscape.

Maintenance [vacuuming the filter monthly] is a non-issue and I am encouraged by the fact that the manual recommends a HEPA filter change and a deodorizing filter change at one year and three years, respectively. The models have alerts for the filter changes - smart.

Since their purchase three months ago, the difference in bedroom and living room air quality was immediate and tangible: we are less prone to fits of coughing or allergic episodes.

These models are not high-end, but cost-effective and "pro-sumer" enough to get the job done consistently and to neatly fit into our living space.

Air Purifiers Review The Built-in Air Quality Monitor is the Best
I have owned both this unit (F-P20HU1) and its little brother, the F-P15HU2 for over three years and I think they are the best air cleaners on the market, for the price. The cost of a replacement HEPA filter is very reasonable and will last 3 years. The Air Quality monitor is a great feature! At a glance you can view the quality of the air in the room. From the display one can learn what activities create the most dust. I never realized how much "dust" the dishwasher created until I bought these units. Some powder detergent actually escapes as dust before it can be completely dissolved! Switched to a liquid detergent. It is a good way to find out if your vacuum cleaner spews dust into the air too! If while vacuuming the indicator goes red, then think about replacing your vacuum (or changing the bag).

Air Purifiers Review Works Great...Easy to Replace...Order Early
The "Bionaire A1260C Carbon Replacement Filters" are for use for several models of the Bionaire Air Cleaners(see editorial review for model numbers). I have the Bionaire BAP1175 Quietech Hepa Air Cleaner(which by the way is a fabulous product in itself).

My air cleaner works on a 3 filter system. The first removes the larger particles from the air(it may be washed) Next, this one, is a carbon filter(very easy to install and remove) that traps odors. This works great. The carbon filter does a good job of removing dog smells, smoke and cooking odors as well. It is recommended to change these filters(there are 2) every 3-6 months(it may not be washed). These filters are fairly inexpensive to replace. The instruction manuel says you will know when to replace it, as "odor removal effectiveness will be noticeably reduced". That is exactly how I knew when to change my filters.Running it almost constantly, it was just short of the 3 months that I noticed they needed to be changed, but I attribute that to the house being closed up all summer with the A/C on. And by the way, after replacing the filters,on which I could also see all the dust they filtered, I noticed the difference within minutes!(even with the dog in the house). They are simple to change(I can finally do something I don't have to ask the menfolk to help with), and they come four in a pack, so your all set for the next time. They come in a plastic resealable bag and advise to keep the spares sealed up to maintain freshness. When I ordered, I noticed that they took just a little longer then the other items, so order early.

Oh and for those interested in the Hepa Air Cleaner Model BAP1175...the third filter is the hepa filter..This is already in the machine on arrival. This filter, according to the manuel, removes 99.97% of particulate as small as 0.3 microns in size. It filters smoke, dust, pollen mold spores, pet dander and "some" bacteria. And I believe it. Now these filters are quite a bit more expensive to replace, but they last quite a while, somewhere between 12-24 months. And you will know exactly when to replace it, because there is a great feature, a digital read out of how much filter life is left. After nearly 3 months mine still has about 87% life left. For more info on the air cleaner itself please see my review.

A great buy on a very good product and easy to get here at Amazon(as opposed to running around trying to find the model number I needed.)

Thanks....Laurie

Air Purifiers Review Excellent Air Purifier-Really does the job.
I bought my first Ionic Breeze five years ago. At that time I had a tabby cat and a good friend who was allergic to cats. My friend couldn't be in the apartment for more than a few minutes without sneezing and his eyes itching. After running the Ionic Breeze for a week, he no longer had a problem visiting and staying for dinner. I was amazed and have been a fan ever since.

I've since added two more of the newer Ionic Breezes to my apartment. One in my bedroom and one in my walk in closet. I keep a hamper in there for laundry (including gyn clohes) and it keeps everything smelling fresh even if I don't get the laundry done as soon as I like.

The Ionic Breeze keeps the air fresh (I live in a city on a busy corner) and I no longer need my allergy pills at night.

Cleaning in the sink is easy but I do recommend getting the extra grids so you can still use your Ionic Breeze while the grids are drying. I have had some trouble with noise but it went away once I thoroughly cleaned the unit.

I've heard the talk about Ozone with these but it doesn't seem to be an issue since the new one's have something called Ozone Guard that turns the Ozone back to oxegyn anyway.

Overall this is a really great product and one I highly recommend.
