DISSATISFIED, AM RETURNING BOTH ITEMS PURCHASED!!!
A bit too noisy
Great UnitWell worth the money and quit in the low speed.

- in 1 Air Cooler / Heater / Fan / Ionic Air Purifier
- Three selections of wind speed and mode
- Remote Control included
- Water sprinkling cyclic system with ice compress for extra cooling
- Oxygen bar with negative ions releases FRESH air

...Very poor quality. Doesn't help to cool very much. Difficult to clean, and refill.
You can't remove the inside unit to add water. You litterally have to pour it in. Even if adding the frozen compress into the unit, it does very little to help cool down a room. If you want to cool down a VERY SMALL sized room, this may help, otherwise don't bother. I tried using it for my bedroom which is pretty average sized, and my fan worked much better than this.
BUY AT YOUR OWN RISKI did not expect the dramatic cooling of an air conditioner. I did however expect this product to be more useful than a fan.
Water compartment needs to be filled often and is cumbersome(located at the bottom). I found my self dragging jugs of water to fill water compartment. After which you must bend over and insert your hand to pour blindly into a water tray.
Ice packs given in package can be found at local odds and ins stores for about $1.99 and melt quickly. Display panel is hard to read with small light font. Best of all my stand up fan that was purchased for $49 cools room better than this $119.00 plus shipping $20-$30 cooler.
I purchased this cooler for a family member that has respiratory problems. This individual uses oxygen which takes allot of watts. As a method of cooling and energy consumption savings I was drawn to this product. I did not use heating feature in that weather did not permit.
In general I have found swap/commercial "coolers" do not work as advertised. The appeal of a cost effective cooling device that is portable and conserves energy seems to be a pipe dream!
Cool product(*Have not tried the heater feature yet-- our recent weather is too hot to make this feasible-- check back in
6 mos if you want to know my impressions of that.)
Initial reservations: Lack of consumer reviews, uncertainty whether a swamp cooler could actually cool the air
in the climate where I live (Portland, OR), no "Consumer Reports" writeup on swamp coolers.
Unexpected qualities: The air cleaning feature (negative ion generator) really does freshen the air-- enough
to clear my stuffy sinuses and neutralize annoying smells like catbox, deep fry oil, and that weird smell the
vacuum cleaner makes. Unit looks good & rolls easily away into small corner when not in use. The icepacks/
icebar are a great design improvement to the traditional "swamp cooler" concept (and can be borrowed to
chill your lunch.) Remote is more handy than anticipated. Overall awesome value for the price.
The web sez that swamp coolers work best when & where the relative humidity is below 55%. They will work
at a higher RH, just not as effectively. You can find the RH & temperature stats for your area on weather
websites. Don't be deterred just b/c yr area has "average RH" over 55%, as we do here in Portland. On closer
examination of the numbers, I found that our hottest days are typically also the most dry, quite below 50%.
Whirlwind cooling is not like "real" AC; the effect is much subtler, takes a few minutes to be felt, and requires
fresh air input (I.e. open windows on each side of a room). It's not so much an objective BTU type of deal so
much as a subjective sense of coolness. I actually appreciate this; AC often makes me feel chilled and raw in
the throat.
Minor design issues: For as frequently as one needs to refill the water tank, the tank is rather inconveniently
situated for filling using any pitcher, bucket or jug in my house (the best thing we've found so far has been
an empty whiskey bottle). Indeed, it almost seems designed to be filled using a hose, which is not something
often kept indoors. Why not a removable reservoir, like many humidifiers/dehumidifiers? Or at least an
accessory (port? hose? special long spouted watering can?) of some kind for easier filling... Turning the unit
OFF often doesn't turn it all the way off; it seems to want to stay in a standby mode unless you unplug it
altogether. Power cable is shorter than I like.
I ordered my Whirlwind from American eSuperstore on 5/27/05. I first tried to order through their site, but it
locked up, so I called the toll free #. The product was out of stock at the time and so I did not receive it until
6/20/05. It cost $119.00 plus 19.99 shipping, but if you go to their customer reviews page you can find a
code for $10 off.

Effective and affordableIn addition, we were remodeling our kitchen, tearing out walls and this unit cleaned up the construction dust very well. Very effective in clearing out dust and allergens.
I bought a second unit.
4 stars instead of 5 because the LED display is very bright. I used a narrrow strip of 95% window tint to cover up the LED display so my daughter could sleep at night.
Trouble-free and effectiveThe devices are relatively silent at the lowest settings [best comparison: think of two humans blowing air lightly through their lips]; the low setting is all you will need for daily operation. At full blast, the models sound like modern hair dryers, but we only use these settings for a few minutes when we are getting ready to have company or if we are chain smoking.
The air quality monitor [on the F-P20HU1] is actually fun. Feedback on appliances is great...we like to joke about the "impurity" of our apartment when we have a full red reading and become encouraged as the purifier brings it back to the green reading of "purity." A silly thing, but something you get from products you like.
The controls are intuitive and the design is non-invasive, with a small footprint. The purifiers are cat-cornered to our white-painted walls, blending easily into the apartment landscape.
Maintenance [vacuuming the filter monthly] is a non-issue and I am encouraged by the fact that the manual recommends a HEPA filter change and a deodorizing filter change at one year and three years, respectively. The models have alerts for the filter changes - smart.
Since their purchase three months ago, the difference in bedroom and living room air quality was immediate and tangible: we are less prone to fits of coughing or allergic episodes.
These models are not high-end, but cost-effective and "pro-sumer" enough to get the job done consistently and to neatly fit into our living space.
The Built-in Air Quality Monitor is the Best

Works Great...Easy to Replace...Order EarlyMy air cleaner works on a 3 filter system. The first removes the larger particles from the air(it may be washed) Next, this one, is a carbon filter(very easy to install and remove) that traps odors. This works great. The carbon filter does a good job of removing dog smells, smoke and cooking odors as well. It is recommended to change these filters(there are 2) every 3-6 months(it may not be washed). These filters are fairly inexpensive to replace. The instruction manuel says you will know when to replace it, as "odor removal effectiveness will be noticeably reduced". That is exactly how I knew when to change my filters.Running it almost constantly, it was just short of the 3 months that I noticed they needed to be changed, but I attribute that to the house being closed up all summer with the A/C on. And by the way, after replacing the filters,on which I could also see all the dust they filtered, I noticed the difference within minutes!(even with the dog in the house). They are simple to change(I can finally do something I don't have to ask the menfolk to help with), and they come four in a pack, so your all set for the next time. They come in a plastic resealable bag and advise to keep the spares sealed up to maintain freshness. When I ordered, I noticed that they took just a little longer then the other items, so order early.
Oh and for those interested in the Hepa Air Cleaner Model BAP1175...the third filter is the hepa filter..This is already in the machine on arrival. This filter, according to the manuel, removes 99.97% of particulate as small as 0.3 microns in size. It filters smoke, dust, pollen mold spores, pet dander and "some" bacteria. And I believe it. Now these filters are quite a bit more expensive to replace, but they last quite a while, somewhere between 12-24 months. And you will know exactly when to replace it, because there is a great feature, a digital read out of how much filter life is left. After nearly 3 months mine still has about 87% life left. For more info on the air cleaner itself please see my review.
A great buy on a very good product and easy to get here at Amazon(as opposed to running around trying to find the model number I needed.)
Thanks....Laurie

Excellent Air Purifier-Really does the job.I've since added two more of the newer Ionic Breezes to my apartment. One in my bedroom and one in my walk in closet. I keep a hamper in there for laundry (including gyn clohes) and it keeps everything smelling fresh even if I don't get the laundry done as soon as I like.
The Ionic Breeze keeps the air fresh (I live in a city on a busy corner) and I no longer need my allergy pills at night.
Cleaning in the sink is easy but I do recommend getting the extra grids so you can still use your Ionic Breeze while the grids are drying. I have had some trouble with noise but it went away once I thoroughly cleaned the unit.
I've heard the talk about Ozone with these but it doesn't seem to be an issue since the new one's have something called Ozone Guard that turns the Ozone back to oxegyn anyway.
Overall this is a really great product and one I highly recommend.

Additionally, Manhattan apartments accumulate enormous amounts of dust (maybe apartments in other parts of the country do too but I wouldn't know about that) due to the dry air and heat. I leave this little guy on during the day while I'm away and the apartment air is cleaned, making coming home even more of a joy. Well done Vornado. Superb product.
