Didn't workI should have listened to the person who wrote the review here that said that they ordered this and it didn't work. Where are all these reviews now anyways? I see that the item is now currently unavailable. That's good. Why am i writing a review anyways?? Because i'm really pissed off. I bought this as a christmas present for my mother who really, really needs it because of her painful arthritis condition, and so in comes your brand new product, and then, DOESN'T WORK. Folks, don't get this. It's not worth the hassle. Don't make the same mistake I did. LISTEN to the reviews.
Works great!(Ignore the strange squat-looking picture of the unit above and look at the other pictures. It isn't really square, but more shoebox-shaped.)
I installed this unit in my basement about 6 months ago, and it has been working flawlessly ever since.
Things I noticed:
- If the power goes out, the unit will NOT turn back on automatically (as some other units do.)
- If you want to use the continuous drainage (which I highly recommend) via a hose, you have to punch out a plastic disc on the side of the unit. I would have designed a screw-type plug that was replacable, but they didn't think of that. Anyway, once you punch the quarter-size disc out it's out forever.
- If you choose to use the continuous drainage feature, you will need to pick up a hose with an inner diameter of 15mm (.59" or just over half an inch.) I went to the local DIY center and found some clear tubing that has worked well.
- The unit can operate down to 2-degrees C (36-degrees F), which will be great for continuous operation in the garage to keep the tools from rusting.
- Has three fan settings: med, high and quiet. "Quiet" really is quiet, and could probably work just fine in a bedroom. Though, it does warm the room it's in. How much it warms it depends on the humidity setting.
- Four settings: The humidty level (humidstat) can be set to "continuous dehumidification" (which is the default setting), 50%, 60% and 70%. The fan will continue to run but the dehumidification processor will turn off when it reaches the selected humidity level. Cool. I mean, that's when the fan will just blow room-temp air.
- A full drainage tank will stop the unit and illuminate a "tank full" indicator light.
- The unit is not that heavy -- maybe for some, but not nearly as heavy as some people make it sound. It's 30.8 pounds.
- According to the instructions: You will need at least 21 cm (about 8 inches) of clearance in front, behind and side to side. Air blows out of the top of the unit, so you'll need to make sure it's clear as well.
- There are movable louvers on the top to direct the air straight up, 45-degrees or almost straight ahead.
Power consumption: CFM-25E is 220W // CFM-40E is 330W
I highly recommend this model dehumidifier.

Worked great while it workedQuiet, pulled alot of water. The first one broke within days so store exchanged. The second one worked great for one season then would run but never pull any water. Company discontinued and have to find a new one but it won't be Bionaire.
As quiet as they get. Works faithfully.Mine has been working non-stop for 14 months now. It is much quieter than other dehumidifiers, because it has a turbine-like fan and a new cooling technology. It also seems to produce less heat than other dehumidifiers, although it does warm up the air (that's unavoidable). The only problem that I have found with this machine is the placement of the humidistat. The sensor for humidity is located inside it and gets dried out pretty quickly. As a result, the dehumidifier underestimates the humidity of the room, turns itself off too soon, and then will not turn itself on once the humidity goes up in the room. This is not a problem for me, because I need it to run non-stop. However, it would be a nuissance if you require precise control of the relative humidity.
Susan in TNThis has been a great purchase for us! We have an approx. 1100 sq. foot finished basement that was beginning to feel very humid. The humidity was running around 55% all the time in the summer and not much lower in the winter. This machine has brought the humidity down to 40-45% all the time (in the summer) and the basement now feels dry and comfortable. It is QUIET, easy to use and attractive. We have a humidistat accross the room from where the machine is and the humidity readings match so we find it to be very accurate. I would definitely reccomend this dehumidifier!

Delonghi - Bad product, Bad serviceI paid over $300 for the DE 400P. It worked OK for about 8 months then the pump stopped working. The only reason I was willing to pay so much was for the pump. Delonghi service people have been NO help and argumentative. They tell me I must ship it to NY for them to repair. The packaging and shipping costs alone make this prohibitive. I asked to speak with a manager and got voice mail. I left a message 3 weeks ago and did not get any return call. I called back today and again got the managers voice mail.
As far as I am concerned I have never purchased a product that was so poorly supported by the manufacturer. I will never purchase another Delonghi product of any kind. And I suggest you consider where the repair centers are before you purchase one.

Don't count on the pumpBought this unit 2 years ago. Pump died after 2 months. Brought it to a certified repair center. It took the company 8 months to figure out that they can't send the repair center a pump, so about 3 months ago, they finally sent me a brand new unit, and yesterday, the pump died again on the new unit. Stay away from this dehumidifier. The pump stinks. Oh, and this new unit leaks as much water as it sucks from the air. Stay away. The pump was a good idea but, if it doesn't work, then whats the point? STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT
Excellent ProductI read all the negative reviews and almost didn't buy this product, but I really didn't want to keep emtying buckets of water from my dehumidifier so I thought I would try it. It turns out this product works great! It's quieter than my old dehumidifier, it pumps the water out my basement window, the basement is dry - I have it set on 40% and it maintains it with no problem. The only issue I have is that if the power goes out, you have to turn the unit back on again manually - this can be a problem when you go away on vacation.

Soleus Air CFM-25E 25-Pint Dehumidifier I wish I ncould leave feed back on this item. Item was shipped but did not work. When I returned it and requested a replacement I was issued a refund instead. Found a simular modle at HD for less money that works perfectly.
dehumidifierThis dehumidifier works fairly well. It is noticably less damp in the apartment, and I haven't had the need for allergy medicine (like I normally do this time of year). However, my electricity bill nearly doubled--be prepared.
Works like a charm!I was pleased with the easy set up (just plug it in), 'quiet' mode really is quiet, and it lowered the humidity in my space from 75% to 55% within a couple of hours. It is easy to empty the water tank, looks good, and is portable. THe directions warn that the casters could scratch floors when it is wheeled around, but it has not scratched my hardwood floors. I really like this product.

Exactly what we wantedThis dehumidifier has worked wonderfully since we purchased it in May 2006. We have a very humid basement, and it has turned it into a perfectly acceptable room. No more humid, dank smells coming from down there. No assembly was required; I had it up and running in less than five minutes. It has automatic shutoff when it is full, and a humidity control you can modify depending on how dry you want the air to be. It is not a quiet machine, so you may not want this in an area where you spend a lot of time. It gets a lot of use in my home and there have been no problems to date. Well worth the purchase price!

Don't waste your time with the other brandsI tried a Haier 65 pint and it was louder on its low setting than this one is on its high setting. The Haier also started short-cycling after about 5 days of operation. After that bad experience, I spent a couple of hours reading every review of dehumidifiers I could find, and decided to go with the Soleus based on the fact that it was supposed to be the quietest. WHAT A HUGE IMPROVEMENT over the Haier!
I would give this model 5 stars, but it has these "deficiencies" when compared to other models:
1. No temperature and humidity display. Ok, I agree, it doesn't affect the operation, but it's one of those things I did like about the Haier. Granted, on the Haier, all the display did was show me that the thing stopped working.
2. The hose connection needs to be punched out and is not a threaded connection for a garden hose, although my garden hose slips over the connection just fine when I cut off the hose end.
3. The unit does not return to "on" after power goes out. I really wanted this feature so that I could put the unit on a timer to run for x hours every day.
4. It's not Energy Star rated. It is only 330W though, which is much less than other similarly sized models.
In summary: Don't waste your time with all the other models available. The Soleus works fine and I can't hear it in the next room even when the fan is on HI.
PS: Look around and you may find a deal like I did. I paid just 139 at a big box.

Great For NYC Apartments!I decided, just before the summer heat started, to buy only one air conditioner for my bedroom and a dehumidifier for the living room to provide some comfort. Believe it or not it works great! At least this brand does. My living room has 10' ceilings and is approximately 400 square feet (including a kitchen.) The room is still warm especially when the temperature reaches 80, but there is no discomfort. The only down side is the warm air released by unit. The living room cools off as long as I have my Vornado fan (best fan in the world) blowing cool air from the bedroom to living room.
Works wellI purchased this dehumidifier for mainly basement use, but wanted one quiet enough for use upstairs if needed. And, boy is this thing quiet. My refrigerator is louder. I also own a Fedders 45 pint unit and a Whirlpool 65 pint noise maker. The Fedders (Maytag) was the quiet champ untill I purchased the Soleus Air CFM-40E. The Whirlpool removes an amazing amount of water, but can be heard UPSTAIRS when running in the basement. So it is used only when needed. The Soleus Air is so quiet I have to go down the basement stairs and visually check to see if the unit is on. Can't say that for many dehumidifiers. My only complaint is that the fan is always on, even when it has reached the set humidity level. This prevents the short cycling the others do, on for 2 minutes off for 2 minutes or so, but I think prevents an Energy Star certification. At 2.9 amps it draws significantly less than the Fedders 5.6 amps and the Whirlpool's 7.9 amps.
The Soleus Air works great (so far) upstairs in the spring, when it is cool but damp, like the weather this week. Here in Wisconsin it is in the 60's but rainy, so the house is humid. Running the central air is not necessary since the house is not hot. So I use a dehumidifier, which makes the house seem less clammy. I would recommend the Soleus Air CFM-40E to anyone who is looking for a small, really quiet, relatively light, medium capacity (40pint) dehumidifier that simply does what is supposed to do (remove water from air) with out excess noise.

Yes, it IS beautifully flawed.Sure it's pretty, but it's also pretty useless. Like Hobbs (another reviewer) noted, the knob to hold the fan at a particular angle DOESN'T hold. So it blows air where IT wants, not where I want. Obviously, this is a problematic product. I should have known better, given how many "factory reconditioned" ones I have seen available. Gee, wonder why the factory has so many available to recondition. Dumb me for buying it. Do yourself a favor and find a real vintage fan at a thrift store.
Silent but flimsy - 4 stars is not what I would like to rate it.This fan is extremely solid looking, and powerful, as well as attractive, but behaves strangely. The base and the fan seem to be assembled with some sort of floating mechanism that makes the fan seem like it just wobbles around sometimes. You can tell the second you take it out of the box. In spite of the wobbly assembly, the thing really pushes air around really well, and my air conditioning no longer seems 'stale'. I'm sure there are other fans that are more powerful, solid, inexpensive and definitely lightweight, but none are as cool looking as this one.
(Later on, after a customer inquiry to Vornados web site)
As it turns out, the fan is not supposed to be wobbly, but instead should be very sturdy. The rep told me to pack it up and send it back to the factory. That's pretty inconvenient, because this thing is going to cost me about 20 bucks to ship, let along the packaging that is going to have to be carefully engineered. Dont buy this. The situation now stinks, and by the time I get the new one, I will have paid way more than it is worth. As a matter of fact, I am sending it back to Amazon, and they can pay for the shipping label. Thanks, Amazon, for a great message board for me to vent on.

Good, not great..Pros: moves a lot of air, cool retro look is appealing, nice low frequency sound for those that like the white noise of a fan while they sleep, modestly priced for a product with a lot of steel content.
Cons: cheap plastic switch that feels destined to break before long, a little difficult to clean but this isn't much different from every other fan I've owned. One of the two I own has something loose in the motor housing that results in a metal to metal bell tone when it's oscillating. Probably something I can fix but at only about three months old, something I shouldn't have to deal with.
Bottom line: a good fan with a great look but a little pricey relative to comparable plastic fans (so is everything with high steel content lately). Long term reliability is a question mark. If all you want is a fan to move some air, this isn't the fan for you.

Hamilton Beach Filter- WASTE OF MONEY!I can't believe that Amazon actually requested that I write a review for this item as THESE ARE THE ABSOLUTE WORST FILTERS and the actual TRUE AIR unit was a COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. You are lucky to get 2 WEEKS out of each filter before it falls apart. The unit never gets up to the desired humidity (and all I ask for is 50%). The description says to change the water once a month- We have to refill the thing TWICE EACH DAY. We are currently looking for another unit (different manufacturer, of course)I suggest you also find another unit before you spend another dime on these filters!!!! also please note that a previous reviewer said she/he purchased 3 filters to alternate- THESE ARE DISPOSABLE AND ARE NOT MEANT TO BE DRIED OUT AND REUSED!... unless you are trying to kill yourself or someone you "love" with Legionaires Disease...
Great FIlter for a Great MachineThis filter has not been replaced since we bought it in January. If you turn it over every time you refill the water tank, the filter does not get as discolored and lasts longer.
Works just great if you let it dry.I've read review after review saying that these filters don't last any time at all. But as long as you follow the advice and let the unit dry out every few days (we don't refill it one morning and let it run while we're at work to dry) then it stays perfectly clean, usable, and lasts for months before needing to be replaced because it's absorbed too much dust or gotten blocked up with hard water deposits. The humidifier has been a lifesaver. The only problem I find is trying to get the filter in place since it comes shipped flat, and is hard to get shaped into place to get the fan mechanism back over it when it doesn't want to maintain a round shape.
