I'm very familiar with Vornado products and have been using one of their room humidifiers and one of their quiet room heaters for 5 years or more. Vornado is a manufacturer that designs and renders things the right way. The Vornado 630B 3 Speed Mid Size Air Circulator does the work of much larger fans but with a minimum of noise. I know this to be a fact since a short time ago my wife bought two other well known fans at a local store and brought them home. The vornado moves as much air as the other brands Large "Industrial" use fan and obviously at a much quieterlevel. I literally had to turn on the "closed captioning" on my tv when the other brand was running in the farthest back room! And obviously not enjoying much of the fan effect from so far away. The Vornado sits slightly to one side of our entertainment center and about 6 feet away from the user. You can use it on low and it's whisper quiet with a nice directed air pattern. The Vornado 630B 3 Speed Mid Size Air Circulator is adjustable of course, not only three different speeds but it can be aimed in a very wide range of direction including straight up for general room circulation. There are no knobs to tighten and you can accomplish the easy adjustment with a gentle push or pull in the direction needed. The fan is also easily cleaned of dust since the blade cover comes off the fins can be wiped down with just a damp cloth, cover replaces easily without tools and after plugging back in , you're up and running quickly.
I also found that the price was just a few dollars difference from the less versatile fan and the Vornado that is ideal. That to me more than justifies the price. We took the other fan back and have happily been using our Vornado product since.

I have had this fan 14 months and it just stopped working.No rhyme or reason, one day it just stopped. We opened it to see if there was any noticeable reason but all wires seemed fine. Up until then it worked great - quiet and circulated air well. I deliberately bought this model because it was more expensive and i wouldnt have to replace it all the time...oh well

i purchased this fan about six weeks ago. it cools nicely, and i like the timer setting. the breeze feature, is a another matter. i do not like it too much, and now, when i have used the breeze, it makes another type of noise that is annoying; so i do not use the breeze setting. it was not hard to put together, was done in 10 minutes. nice to have the remote, it would be nice if it had a glow in dark feature, because if you want to change the setting, you need to turn on a light. all in all, it is a good product, but it it defently priced a little high..

I'm very happy with the product. I had a Lasko Control Tower Fan and in was noisey and would make screetching sounds now and then. It died after a few years. This one is great - however they sent the wrong size screws to mount the base. They were too short, so crazy glue came to the rescue!

This window fan is attractive, and it works really well to bring cool air into a room. But the exhaust does not work at all really, its power is only a fraction of the actual fan. Both modes are not equal in power. If you need a powerful exhaust device this would not be a good choice. Ive also had the unit turn off oddly for no reason, which has been frustrating.

Fan is very quiet. It does cool the room when on intake. But I bought this fan to blow the cooking smoke outside. There is no exhausts provided above the coking stove in my apartment, so all the smoke gets filled in. The fan doesn't do a very good job in blowing it out and keeping it away from my bedroom. The fans are not that powerful. May be it will work well in smaller room.

I bought this fan on the recommendation of a friend.
At the end of a hot day, the temperature inside of my apartment is higher than outside.; this fan takes care of removing the hot air and bringing in cool air from the outside.
It barely fit the width of my window, but extender can be purchase afterwards if that`s a problem. Very easy to install and operate, there is a thermostat so the fan turns on when the temperature gets too high.
Perfect for smaller rooms.
Also the price is definitely right.

Fans make a big difference in our second floor bedrooms. My wife and I had one and we decided to get one for each of our kids for their rooms. They love them and are able to easily put them in and out of their windows.

Compared to the other more "expensive" & "digitaly controled" fans I bought before, this one looks bland. But don't be fooled by the looks. Its excellant value for money. Individual controls for each fan. Good build quality. Fairly quiet fan motors. Keeps my cooling bill low.

I bought the 510 (mainly for my dorm room)after I returned the 610, thinking that the 100W difference wouldnt matter much.

Let me tell you, the change was VERY noticeable. The highest power setting felt like medium on the 610 and it doesnt circulate air to well with medium or big sized rooms. The fan is still great but not worth it for the price in my opinion.

I returned the 510 back the next day and got the 610 again. If you are looking for a fan for a big room, pay a little extra and get the 610. Well worth it. Stronger and circulates air much better.

However, if you are looking for a small fan for a small room, you would be better off looking else where.

The fan works like it says it does. I leave it on all the time. I would like it to have more power but it is advertised as an air circulator, not a breeze creator.

I bought this model from Amazon 3 years ago. It is still working just as well as it did right from the box. Small in size, this thing can blow you away on high speed. It has excellent adjustability, speed control, and best of all....it's built to last.

I am truly impressed by this company's products.

Its mist covers almost the whole patio, creating a cool environment. Now I can make barbecues during the summer.

I bought the fan and had some reservations due to some sketchy reviews. But this product is wonderful and now many of my neighbors and family ask where I bought this from. I have an outdoor double tiered deck that leads to a pool. While the kids are cool on the upper deck from the pool, us lower deck folk have a temperature of about 10 degrees less plus the benefit of a cool fan running. This product is exactly what I was looking for and is great.

Although it is very expensive, the fan is worth it. Its not very big yet very powerful and can be eaisly moved from room to room.

It is perfect for almost any room, especially a dorm room. It circulates and provides cool air for the whole room. A very great alternative for air conditioners.

Fan is a tad bit bigger than I expected, but it works great! If I need another fan, for whatever reason, will be starting with Vornado's

The fan isn't really big but it puts out a good breeze when on high and it really isn't loud at all. If you can get over the high price you will enjoy the fan.

The fan does its job. Before we got it we did a lot of research, and it was hands down the best choice for the money. All the functions work pretty nicely EXCEPT the digital thermostat, but not to worry - half of us don't even set it up. For the other half you can do the same thing as I did, like I said we read the reviews on it and every one said that the thermostat is the main draw back but some one actually took it apart and supplied the detailed instructions how to move the thermo wire away from the board, I did it in 20 min., so if you are a handy man then there is nothing to it. Overall we are happy with this fan.

This cools a medium sized room (@16 x 12) well. We have actually set up the thermostat feature and it has worked just fine, we have not had any problems. It has three power levels, and air exchange feature, and you can set one fan to bring cool air in, and one to remove hot air out (stating the obvious here probably, but just wanted to mention). We've tried all of the features and have been very impressed with the product thus far.

Is it better than airconditioning when it is truly hot? Probably not, but it depends on the individual(s) using it. In the room we use this fan in there are three windows, so I could easily see buying another one of these units and rarely ever turning on our central airconditioning. For now, however, just one of these units is quite adequate for days and nights where it is not oppressively hot.

The sound level is minimal. I personally become bothered by noisy fans and/or airconditioners, but this is very quiet--just enough to block out very moderate street noise (but not heavy). It does not sound heavy or mechanical whatsoever. If you're in the city and thinking about using one of these but also hope to block street noise, I am not sure this would cover it entirely with just one unit. Also, it is worth noting that it is not bad looking, either.

I purchased this fan after reading the customer reviews, since I am convinced that most people write reviews to report problems. This makes most of these reviews have a negative bias. My instincts were right. This fan is both quiet and effective.

I've had this fan for nearly a year and I've had no problems. Of course, it's a fan, so I never use the thermostat mode. Therefore, I've never had a problem with the thermostat. If you want a quiet window fan, try this one out.

According to the ad comments I ordered model #1054 fan with legs and free adapter. Ad Comments states in bold letters "Best price for model 1054. This model comes with legs as pictured in model 1053 plus comes with a free adapter"I was sent model #1071 a fan with an adapter and no legs. It tips over and is far from the quality of the fan I ordered. Deopinc lacks customer service with an "oh well" attitude and allows me to exchange or receive a refund as long as I now pay extra postage and an additional $1.00 for the item I ordered but they did not send me.

SELLERS BEWARE! The ad that the buyer purchased from very clearly stated "This Fan (MODEL 1071) has an adapter included, but instead of the multi-position stand it has a larger base for standing on a table,etc.." HOW MUCH CLEARER THAN "This Fan (Model 1071)" IS NEEDED? Her quote about our ad comments was from an ad entered days after her order, when we received the 1054 (It is against Amazon policy to pre-sell or sell anything that can't be shipped within 2 days.) BTW - the ad she claims she ordered from is priced $1 higher than the ad she ACTUALLY ordered from. Does she have the ability to change ad prices? We offered to refund her purchase price after she returned the fans, good & proper customer service.

I am a college student and these fans are cheap and at Target, so most of my friends have at least one. The downside is, they are horrible, cheaply made, and downright dangerous. The base is too small for the fan, making it extremely top heavy. As a result, if the fan is on an uneven surface or ledge, like a windowsill, any jolt sends it toppling to the floor, or your head, really whatever is underneath. Moreover, it is loud, blows at very limited angles, and really doesn't move that much air. Even the cord is short.

Seriously, don't buy this fan.

This little thing is great if you want a high powered fan that takes up a little bit of space. It's cute, powerful, and well worth the $10 that I paid! The only thing is that it is a tad loud, but don't let that stop you from buying!

For ten bucks, I can't imagine anyone finding a better fan. It is loud at highest setting. At its lowest setting, it's still pretty effective, and the noise level is reasonable.

I disagree about this fan being unstable. If it sits completely on any surface, it's quite stable. If someone tries to balance it on a window ledge that is only half the width of the fan base, well, duh-- it's going to fall.

The big complaint I have is that it is wall mountable, but only in the horizontal position. Because this fan only pivots up and down (not side to side), it means that the location on the wall must be directly opposite from where you want the fan to blow and you can only aim it from floor to ceiling in that one direction.

If it accommodated a vertical mount, that would turn the fan "sideways" on the wall, which would let you angle it toward any part of the room.
