Started out great, lousy in the long runI purchased two of these fans from Amazon about 2 months ago. Seemed like a great fan for the money, not cheap, but not as expensive as a Vornado, good air circulation, not too noisy. Now, two months later BOTH fans are not running right. They start out fine for about 5 minutes, then konk out for no reason. They continue this way, turning themselves on and off until I get aggravated and shut them down. I could understand it if I had one bum fan, but for both to have problems is completely unacceptable. The only reason this review even gets 1 star is that there isn't an option for zero stars! Save yourself the headache and buy a Vornado.
great fanThis is a great fan esp for the money. I use mine outside on my screened porch. Has several speeds, and it doesn't take up a lot of room. I love it!
GREAT LITTLE FAN FOR THE MONEYI bought this fan for the flow of the fan... but granite it is noisey because I turn it up.. but that is the reason I bought it. I live in a very loud, people and cars goes by and you can hear it neighborhood, so during the night I turn it up and I get the air I need and the noise is almost not there. During the day I turn it on low and it is not loud at all. Each person has their level of noise control and with this one by turning it up a notch is just what I need to sleep..It also puts out a lot of air at the same time for such a small fan....

Very quiet, nice remote control feature.Doesn't blow quite as much air as I thought it would, but it isn't bad considering how quiet it is. The remote works great, and the controls are all duplicated on the front, so if the remote breaks or gets lost, you can still control it. It's great to be able to turn it on for a certain time period and have it automatically switch off.
Holmes Remote Control FanThis fan has alot of power for being a smaller size model. It doesn't make alot of noise either. The air feels like a breeze from outside. If you move it to different rooms it is lightweight and has a handle at the top, which is very convienent for a counter or tabletop. I highly recommend this fan. The price is very reasonable too! I hope this helps you in making a decision.
Great little fanThis fan has several settings, some of which simulate a breeze (not a constant flow of air). It also has a timer setting and a remote. We have one at our office as well, and everyone loves it. It's pretty quiet too.

Don't watse your money on this one.It worked only 1 day and went dead. It is pretty noisy when you turn it on high due to the fan size. Was very disappointed on this one.
Nice size, toooooooo loudNeeded a small fan for my office...it catches the afternoon summer sun. The fan works fine, is the right size, but it really way too loud for something that size.
Not so greatGood wind, but way too noisy on any speed over low--I'd send it back, but it isn't worth the postage.

Electrical hazard!!!I had this fan 2 days. I was changing the fan setting when there was a snap and a flash of light from the display. Similar to a bug zapper. I was lucky not to get shocked, however it scared the .... out of me. The fan kept working, but could not be shut off or adjusted. I had to unplug it. Do not buy this fan.
Good fan, but weak, and slow...I used this fan for a small room, Good points, quiet, light weight, easy to install, easy to operate. Bad Points, not powerful enough, won't fit to any window, TEMP sensor, useless. My guess is, if you use it in a very small room, and proper fit window, it could be a good vent-exhaust fan.
It is a great automatic window fanIt is a great unit to circulate air and cool off room temperature or just push back the air out of window.
The thermostat works just fine and turns the unit on and off when it reaches the desirable temp so you don't have to worry about doing this manually. The remote control also is another advantage for couch potatoes!
I really like it and do recommend it. :)

Product is fantasticI ordered two fans, the shipping was prompt. Both arrived in assembled and in good condition. I was able to instantly plug them in and be relieved from the scorching heat. The clip-on is very useful. At home, I can clip the fan such that my 1 year old daughter cannot reach it. Overall, a great purchase. Hats off..
Solid PurchaseWhile i've only had my new fan a few days, i am pleased
with it. It seems to be both well designed and made
with sturdy stuff. And I like the large knob/switch
located on the back of the motor housing. The large
knob is easy to find, handle and turn, up, down or off,
even in the dark...with one hand.
I bought the unit with power outages in mind, as it
uses much less power than a box fan, and I can run
it overnight on a 400W Xantrex battery
pack. (And sitting or lying in bed during a
blackout, that little fan gives a lot of
psychological comfort, as well as the
physical cooling on a hot night.
I've had a DC powered 6" fan before this, but that
won't trigger the LOW BATT alarm and will drain my
battery pack completey if i leave it go. And it took
two hands to turn it off/on as well. One hand to hold
the inline switch on the cord, and the other to push
the switch to the new position. Yes, i am pleased
with this purchase.

Lasts ForeverI bought this fan while I was in college over 7 years ago! I use it almost everyday and it still runs like new. The only thing that happend to it is the clip broke from the stress of the metal spring that keeps it clamped. I decided to see if I could still even by this fan and to my surprise they are still avalible. Im buying another, maybe two!

ok. maybe i'm pickyI agree with the other reviewer. it's a nice looking fan, forty bucks cheaper AND measurably quieter than the one at restoration hardware. nice deal. one little thing, though. there's a click-click at a certain point on the rotation. every time it hits that point--click-click. i returned one and replaced it with another, got it home and same thing--click-click. even at the same point on the turn. it's like a slow steady drip on a faucet. some people can ignore it. me...it drives me crazy.
UPDATE -- 5 STARS -- tried yet another much more expensive fan that was too loud, returned it, bought THIRD Hunter Fan from LNT, same problem--click-click, was done with Hunter, shot off a quick email on their website just to let them know of the defect, turns out they have pretty decent customer service, sent me another fan, NO CLICKS, at least not in the time that i wd have normally started hearing clicks. if you don't hear from me again, i'm happy and you can consider this fan, in my opinion, stylish, the quietest of the many I've tried, and at a good price.

Heavy and Quiet I received the fan a few days ago. I was surprised how heavy the fan actually was. All of the parts are metal and it sits very sturdily on a wide base with eight rubber feet.
-The oscillation is super quiet. If you don't fully push the knob down for oscillate mode, it will click.
-The fan tilts but it does not tilt that much. It is meant for a table top. Not the floor or close to the ceiling.
-The grill easily comes apart so the blades can be cleaned.
I think this is a heavy duty appliance that's definitely worth the extra cash.

I'm a big fanI'm thrilled with this metal fan from Hunter, all the more so when I compare it to other small- to medium-sized oscillating fans. The construction is sturdier and the appearance is appealing and clean. While not totally silent, the "whispering" motor is not bothersome. Even on the first (of three) speeds, the fan is effective. In short, I'm delighted. Hurray for Hunter.

Decent fan, LOUSY customer serviceI ordered two of these fans in late May when they were on the Friday sale. Both arrived together and were opened and assembled the same day. The first one is fine, no problems and very effective, but the second one is still sitting in my guest bedroom, unused.
One of the four screws that go through the base and into the pedestal to hold the two sections together is either too small for the holes in the pedestal, or the opening is too large for the screw. I sent an e-mail to Soleus' Customer Service Dept the same evening using the contact info on their website and received a reply the next day asking for more info. The ONLY info my original e-mail hadn't included was my day and evening phone numbers, BTW. So with their e-mailed assurance that I would be contacted within "1 or 2 days" I waited. And waited. And waited.
Finally I sent a follow-up e-mail on June 14 with a copy of the previous mails. As of today the 21st, STILL no answer, either by e-mail or phone. I've also tried calling them several times and just get a busy signal. I sent one more e-mail today, but if they don't or won't honor their warranty the blasted fan is going right back to Amazon.

Some problems... but then a soultionI recieved the tower fan and it made a terible clicking sound whenever the fan ran, i called the manufactuar about the problem and two weeks later they dropshipped a new one out, they said that this was a common problem, and to just cut off the plug to the old fan and send just that to them in an enevlope. The fan moves the air but does little to cool, and yes the new fan is click free.
Great Fan!This is a great fan, especially considering I have two dogs and they can benefit from it too, Unlike most fans that blow high, this one really covers a large area. I also love the timer option. It was a great buy for me and I am very happy with my purchase.
Thank you,
Halee H.

DisappointingI thought I would try this fan as a replacement for my Lakewood 18-inch window fan, which looks almost exactly the same in the ads. I have gone through three of the Lakewood fans over the last 18 years, and they were great for drawing cool air through my entire house. Unfortunately, the Lasko fan is less than half as powerful (0.83 amps vs. 2.0 amps). The high speed on this fan produces about as much wind as the low speed on the Lakewood fan. I will be returning this fan.
Good, solid performer. The first fan I purchased like this was in 1992 from Sears. It had their name on it, but it was obviously built by Lasko. That original is still functional, but after 14 years, it was time for a new one. Must be a proven, solid design to have been in production this long. It moves the air through my home easily, but my house is smallish, only about 1500 square ft. My only gripe concerns the fan guard, or grill, which faces towards the outside, through the open window. This grill is plastic, which we all know doesn't last forever. Exposed to direct sunlight and the elements, this grill will eventually become brittle. It takes several years for that to happen, but that's what happened with the first fan.
I hope that Lasko will in the future consider making this grill out of metal, like the one facing the inside.
One last thing........if, like me, you're sick of seeing "Made in China" stamped on everything, this fan is American-made.

A Good FanI purchased this fan 15 years ago and replaced it with another one this past summer because the old one clonked out on me. What I noticed about this new one is it has a different blade from the older model. It is also quieter and more powerful than the older model. I did not bother with the Storm Guard feature of screwing the fan in the window for safety reasons. If in the event of a fire and the window was my only means of getting out, the fan would get in the way. The fan takes up a lot of window space, so if you are one of those people who like your outdoor view, do not purchase this fan. If you want a fan that is powerful and will last for a good number of years, this is the fan for you.

Do not waiste your money on this! This cooling system has a good advertise on it from Sharper Image. However, in reality, it does not give you any cool feeling at all. Please do not buy this toy or you will start kicking your wall after you receive it (like me!!). I'll try to return it if I still could.
Personal Cooling System is a JokeMy son and I both tried this "personal cooling system."
The fit was not comfortable. It pressed on various nerves and tender parts and was impossible to forget it was on.
The cooling effect is a joke. Although it appears to have seven openings in the air outlet, actually only two of them are open. The cool breeze is barely noticeable. What little there was aimed more at the base of the skull rather than the back of the neck. It failed to penetrate my son's hair (very short) or mine (pinned up).
We are back to wrapping our necks and heads in wet towels. The effect doesn't last as long but it's a lot cooler and a whole lot cheaper!
Needless to say, I'm returning this device.

Does the job I never have really owned a fan before, so I cant really compare this fan to other fans. Well as the previous reviewer stated it got this breeze mode which is quite odd, It starts to spin real fast than uber slow, but it gets really annoying. Fan is also really loud but oh well, you get what you pay for.
It works...The fan works just fine and the remote and timer are nice features. However, this fan is very very loud! The low setting sounds like the high setting on most fans and it is a bit stronger than what low should be. The breeze option is more annoying than anything. It seems to work by turning the fan on and off... I guess because a breeze isn't constant? This would probably be fine - maybe even nice - if the fan wasn't so loud! So the fan gets soft then loud, soft then loud. It is not a feature I wiil ever use because of this.
an oaky fan ...The fan works fine and the remote is good too. But a few things to be noticed:
1. the lowest level of blow is still quite strong and not as quiet as it should be;
2. the timer is 2, 4 and 8 hours. I would like to have choices like 30 minutes and 1 hour.
