Heaters Review Dissapointing... Worst is the noise
The unit is disappointing in that it sells at approx. $30 and provides only one speed and a very unreliable (basically not functioning) thermostat. It also creates much more noise than other similar units I have seen. Over all I would recommend a different buy. It got two stars because like any other comparable heater, it heats a medium room quite fast.

Heaters Review Keeps my office warm and comfy
I purchased this heater to add a little heat to my office, which luckily for me has a window, but unluckily for me, also has a draft. I've been very happy with the results! The built-in thermostat keeps the office at a steady temperature, which is perfect. It doesn't take up much space, which is also a bonus. Downsides: There is no off-switch, so I have to unplug it at the end of the day. That's not so great, because occasionally I forget if the blower is not actively running when I'm getting ready to leave. The noise level from the machine is reasonable, though certainly not silent. In summary, this model perfectly meets my needs. For the price and convenience, it is worth tolerating the minor downsides. And it was affordable. I'd definitely purchase this model again.

Heaters Review Perfection
I bought this heater for our upstairs bathroom that we really don't use except for showers and baths. We closed off the heat in that room and wanted something that would heat up fast and be able to keep us warm this winter while taking our showers. It was wonderful! It even had a frost watch feature on it so I bought one (at Wally World) for my dad who has troubles with his upstairs pipes freezing. I bought this on a Friday sale and was glad I did, but if I needed another one this is the exact one I would get - it's small but it is mighty!

Heaters Review Neat but not silver
Great kitchen item (see other reviews). Pretty design BUT... I gave 4 stars not 5 due to the hassle of having to exchange the 1st unit I got in "matte silver" -- which in person is really gray plastic (not at all the stainless steel look I expected). I sent it back and got the chrome, much classier.

Heaters Review nice decor as well as performance
love the way it looks... it boils water quickly, does not spil - worth every penny - definatelly recomend.

Heaters Review Exceptional Product! Easy, No-Fuss Use!
This product is elegant and refined, and the automatic shut off feature ensures you wont destroy the heating element. It is simple and intuitive, and does its job wonderfully. Try boiling water on your stovetop in two minutes! Terrific for tea drinkers, instant soup lovers, and for the kids hot cocoa! I don't go a day without using it!

Heaters Review ...
Don't waste your money.

Very poor quality. Doesn't help to cool very much. Difficult to clean, and refill.

You can't remove the inside unit to add water. You litterally have to pour it in. Even if adding the frozen compress into the unit, it does very little to help cool down a room. If you want to cool down a VERY SMALL sized room, this may help, otherwise don't bother. I tried using it for my bedroom which is pretty average sized, and my fan worked much better than this.

Heaters Review BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK
After reviewing this product first hand I am not impressed.
I did not expect the dramatic cooling of an air conditioner. I did however expect this product to be more useful than a fan.

Water compartment needs to be filled often and is cumbersome(located at the bottom). I found my self dragging jugs of water to fill water compartment. After which you must bend over and insert your hand to pour blindly into a water tray.

Ice packs given in package can be found at local odds and ins stores for about $1.99 and melt quickly. Display panel is hard to read with small light font. Best of all my stand up fan that was purchased for $49 cools room better than this $119.00 plus shipping $20-$30 cooler.

I purchased this cooler for a family member that has respiratory problems. This individual uses oxygen which takes allot of watts. As a method of cooling and energy consumption savings I was drawn to this product. I did not use heating feature in that weather did not permit.

In general I have found swap/commercial "coolers" do not work as advertised. The appeal of a cost effective cooling device that is portable and conserves energy seems to be a pipe dream!

Heaters Review Cool product
What attracted me to this product: multiseason multipurpose! A heater, fan and air cooler in one appliance.

(*Have not tried the heater feature yet-- our recent weather is too hot to make this feasible-- check back in
6 mos if you want to know my impressions of that.)

Initial reservations: Lack of consumer reviews, uncertainty whether a swamp cooler could actually cool the air
in the climate where I live (Portland, OR), no "Consumer Reports" writeup on swamp coolers.

Unexpected qualities: The air cleaning feature (negative ion generator) really does freshen the air-- enough
to clear my stuffy sinuses and neutralize annoying smells like catbox, deep fry oil, and that weird smell the
vacuum cleaner makes. Unit looks good & rolls easily away into small corner when not in use. The icepacks/
icebar are a great design improvement to the traditional "swamp cooler" concept (and can be borrowed to
chill your lunch.) Remote is more handy than anticipated. Overall awesome value for the price.

The web sez that swamp coolers work best when & where the relative humidity is below 55%. They will work
at a higher RH, just not as effectively. You can find the RH & temperature stats for your area on weather
websites. Don't be deterred just b/c yr area has "average RH" over 55%, as we do here in Portland. On closer
examination of the numbers, I found that our hottest days are typically also the most dry, quite below 50%.

Whirlwind cooling is not like "real" AC; the effect is much subtler, takes a few minutes to be felt, and requires
fresh air input (I.e. open windows on each side of a room). It's not so much an objective BTU type of deal so
much as a subjective sense of coolness. I actually appreciate this; AC often makes me feel chilled and raw in
the throat.

Minor design issues: For as frequently as one needs to refill the water tank, the tank is rather inconveniently
situated for filling using any pitcher, bucket or jug in my house (the best thing we've found so far has been
an empty whiskey bottle). Indeed, it almost seems designed to be filled using a hose, which is not something
often kept indoors. Why not a removable reservoir, like many humidifiers/dehumidifiers? Or at least an
accessory (port? hose? special long spouted watering can?) of some kind for easier filling... Turning the unit
OFF often doesn't turn it all the way off; it seems to want to stay in a standby mode unless you unplug it
altogether. Power cable is shorter than I like.

I ordered my Whirlwind from American eSuperstore on 5/27/05. I first tried to order through their site, but it
locked up, so I called the toll free #. The product was out of stock at the time and so I did not receive it until
6/20/05. It cost $119.00 plus 19.99 shipping, but if you go to their customer reviews page you can find a
code for $10 off.

Heaters Review Cools However, it Leaks Rivers of water on the Floor...
The unit does cool wonderfully, However it has leaked rivers of water onto my carpet. I have left 3 messages with the manufacturer and have gotten NO response from them. I see no possible easy way to drain the water since the port is one inch off the floor. I have resorted to putting the unit on a dog kennel tray to prevent the saturation of the surrounding carpet. I would consider selling the item to get rid of it, However, I cannot even begin to imagine the bad feedback I would get from selling this item. Next step is to try returning to original place of purchase since in my opinion the item is defective--it recycles little or no water. Only dumping water on the floor. Good Luck buying this, Buyer Beware!

Heaters Review dehumidifier requires constant drainage!
i love this unit- it is cool and quiet- but when the A/C is running, at least in Boston, apparently the water can't evaporate fast enough and so it fills every 2-3 hours! the "water full" light blinks and the a/c turns off until you manually release the water from the little tube at the bottom of the unit, 1" off the floor, so it is impossible to even get a bottle under it to catch it! i have started letting the water drain into a cookie sheet, because that's the only thing that can fit under the tube and hold the amount of water that drains. i've been in contact with soleus to ask their advice, and have gotten generic and useless responses. also, since i have opened the box i cannot return the item to the origional seller! i was trying to get a MORE convienient A/C, but it is also very large and the tubes are huge. also, the cord is only 6 feet long, though mine seems to be okay on an appliance extension cord. sigh. now i wish i had just gotten 2 cheaper ones for my windows instead of this huge dripping one. but my room is fresh and cool- for an hour at a time...

Heaters Review Outstanding Spot Conditioner
I purchased this unit from Amazon to provide spot conditioning to my loft, as I've just cut the trees around the house and increased the heat load. While I can't rate its utility as a stand-alone room unit, for my purpose it works well.
The unit is not too noisy, when operating as an AC, it has two fans and the compressor running, but it rates favourably with window units I've heard. I question the 60 pints resevoir, the manual says removing the drain plug yields about 1.5 liters (12 pints) but who cares? The water goes out the exhaust. I did insulate the exhaust hose, as it gets pretty hot.
The remote control is outstanding. All the functions appear on the remote, and there is an audible 'beep' from the unit that indicates that it recieved your instruction. The remote even has a clock (woot!). Lastly, from the remote only you can access the 'sweep' function. This causes the internal dampers of the air output to sweep left to right and back, distributing the air over about 120 degrees of an arc.
I've only had the unit a week, so I can't rate its longevity, but its features and cooling ablilty are top notch.

Update: I've now gone through two 90 degree plus days of bright sunshine, and the unit keeps the loft colder than the downstairs! I consider that quite an acomplishment. I continue to be very satisfied.

Heaters Review It's a component
The filter itself traps a lot of dust, especially when used with the prefilter. However, it is part of the overall system works with two specific models, therefore, shortcomings of the filter are shortcomings of the entire assembly. The only problem I have with the filter itself is that it is very expensive. That is why I am giving it four stars instead of five.

Heaters Review helps asthmatics a great deal
This product is more energy-efficient than many, which is a big plus for an item that many (like me) leave going 24 hours a day, due to bad allergies and asthma. These have helped my mom a great deal at her place, though she did have to return one unit that developed oily spots inside, then became noisy.

Heaters Review Was good while it lasted
Bought the kettle at target. Lasted 4 months after which the kettle no longer turns off automatically. Judging by other reviews, this appear to be a generic engineering problem. If I have to be next to kettle to turn it off manually, I might as well use a regular kettle.

Heaters Review WORST Kettle ever!
Having lived in New Zealand for a year, I came back home to the US totally hooked on having an electric kettle. So, I headed over to Target and picked up the Hamilton Beach Kettle. What a ripoff! After a month or so of use, I tossed out the box and figured everything was fine. It wasn't. Literally TWO MONTHS of daily use for afternoon tea and the switch no longer worked. It simply would not turn on at all. DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY on this kettle! Wish I'd read the reviews here first...you bet I will from now on!

Heaters Review Don't Waste Your Money
I purchase this kettle about 3 months ago, after the first use I took it back as it leaked, overheated and wouldn't shut off then would no long work at all. I loved the design so I exchanged this kettle for the same one as I thought if was just a fluke - WRONG! I've used the replacement for a month about once a day and now it won't shut off or get to a full boil, you can see the light going on and off but the switch never goes up to shut off and it won't fully heat the water. Piece of junk, poor design.

Heaters Review Bad
My heater worked fine, except it never heats the room to the temperature i select. It is always five or more degrees cooler. Not very pleased! Don't waste your money.

Heaters Review Nice while it lasted
Did the job well until it quit after 2 winters. It has thermostat-like settings that show certain temperatures you can select, but I don't think the thermastat actually worked - the heater just stayed on all the time, so I just used the high/low settings.

Heaters Review Pretty nice
I bought one of these last year and am using it again this winter. This heater is rather quiet for a fan-type although powerful at 1500W. The thermostat isn't very accurate, but then it was only designed to keep a personal space at a certain temperature, which it does well. You would need two of these to keep a small apartment near a specific temperature; otherwise set this heater to 5 deg. above desired temp.

The heater it replaced was a 600W radiant heater which failed just weeks after purchase. Eventually I decided the fan/hot-air heater could not completely replace the kind of direct warmth I get from radiant units, so now depending on my activity I alternate between the Holmes and a newer 900W carbon-FIR heater made Honeywell.

Fan-type heaters usually annoy me, but this one doesn't and it turned out better than I thought it would. I think this one would have rated 5 stars if it had a gradually-adjustable thermostat instead of digital presets.

Heaters Review my nu-wave oven is looking sad
for the first few months it was an excellent product, but it soon becomes obvious that the parts are so poorly made that they disintegrate, leaving the product dangerous to use, and when sourcing spare parts, it proves very difficult, so far waiting 3 1/2 months and still no further forward.

Heaters Review customer service?
before buying the nu wave oven, I decided to try the (non-800) "customer service" line for the Hearthware Products people.. I called them 10 min. ago and I'm still waiting for someone to get on the line to answer my pre-sales question--just a constant recording of a young lady that can't pronounce the word "representative". OK, I'm hanging up and going elsewhere right...about...now...

THIS ADDITIONAL COMMENT ADDED ONLY 3 WEEKS LATER:

I'm adding this additional comment because I've noticed how quickly there were an almost immediate 5 "unhelpful" comments in such a short time. When I asked a long-time reviewer on Amazon about this, he replied: "you can bet that the Hearthware people got most of the people in the front office to go online about this."

That may well be the case. Unlike my other negative review of the book about the person who painted the poor skin colors who perhaps got some of her friends online to try to cancel that one, the fact is that I called not once but twice to Heartware and languished on the "customer service" line each time. In one review, it's just my opinion that the lady couldn't paint skin tones very well, while in the other it is a stone fact that I sat on the line for a long time both times with nobody picking up. I almost always call customer service before buying a product. Especially computers.

It seems pretty stupid anyway all this cutthroat, Machiavellian action behind the scenes. But when one considers the amount of bucks involved as a result of increased or decreased sales of a product like a convection oven, it makes more sense to have the office get involved. Sales=jobs.

What's next? Of course a "reviewer" who may or may not be legitimate coming on here and saying something to the effect of: "well, I called them and they answered right away and were very helpful, etc." Whatever. What happened to me (twice) was what happened. Caveat emptor.

Heaters Review Prepares great tasting meals - and regarding customer service
This oven prepares any meat fast and preserves a lot of flavor. I am sure other reviewers have already stated about that (and its ease of use), and I don't intend to echo them. However, I decided to write a review in response to the review titled "customer service?" below.

The thing is, what he writes in the first half of his review is true (probably not the second half regarding unhelpful ratings though). I was not able to reach them by phone. Or by "general" email foe that matter. I know the email didn't work either because I ordered one directly and suddenly I had to move, so I was trying to update my shipping address, and it did not go through - apparently they sent it to my old address.

However, it is too early to decide that they do not have customer service. When they shipped the oven, one of their customer service person sent me a notification by email from his personal corporate account. And with this address I could communicate with him. This proved to be very important because the oven that was sent to my old address got lost (or stolen).

I had a bad impression about their customer service from the phone and general email incidents. So I felt hopeless when I decided to try to contact that person. And that was quite a while later (at least about a month because I was trying to find the original package in vain). Guess what?? They sent me another unit with no charge, even the shipping was free. I received it two days after I sent the email.

So, it is true you cannot reach them with their general phone number or email. However if you get a hold of someone down there (and you will once you order one) their service is quite good.

And the product is fantastic. I guess I will rate one-star short of perfect 5-star for the phone issue, but you will be missing out if you let that scare you away from this product.
