Housewares Review Great for frozen drinks
One of the hardests task you can ever give to a blender is to have it mix frozen drinks, and after a few tries you learn some things: the smell of a burning motor and the need for a durable blender. Most frozen drinks use ice near room temperature as their primary ingredient. Grind this ice requires a very strong motor, durable blades, and a little knowledge. Waring professional or commercial line Waring blenders will have no problems with preparing frozen drinks which is about as daunting a task as blenders get. Don't be put off by the fact the professional blenders don't have a trillion speeds from ticklish to extreme whirring, you don't need them. I have yet to have any problems with this blender from the day I bought it and I can easily say it's the best blender I've ever used.

P.S. If the free bar tool rebate is still around remember to keep the box.

Housewares Review Waring blendors are the best.
My Grandmother had a Waring Blendor. My Mother had a Waring Blendor. Why did I have to BUY one instead of "borrowing" one of theirs? Because they gave them away to get "lighter", i.e., cheap, plastic blenders, back in the early eighties. Big mistake. My grandmother died before she had to replace hers, but my mother is on her third cheap blender now. I expect my Waring Blendor to last the rest of my life. Fortunately, I was able to get my grandmother's Waring Blendor Cookbook from the forties. The current model still has the powerful motor, heavy glass container, super-duper cord and top-quality switch that my grandmother's had, sixty-odd years ago.
I also picked up one at Goodwill to have an extra pitcher to make two kinds of frozen drinks when I have a party. It is about forty years old but still works great, and it was obviously used quite a bit. (I only wish I had found it before I bought a new one!) The container still fits the base on the current model.

Makes fruit juice like a juicer, makes the best milk shakes, daquiries, gazpacho; it can even whip cream for dessert or froth milk for fancy coffee drinks! You can make a thick, creamy milkshake with milk, a frozen banana, a couple of ice cubes, and a little chocolate powder. You can even pre-chill the container in the freezer to make sorbet.

The secret difference: this Blendor creates a tornado in the center of the container, ensuring that everything gets evenly mixed. According to my Waring Blendor Cookbook, this is because of the unique four-leaf clover shape of the container, the shape of the no-rust stainless blades, and the high-powered motor.

You can use a wooden spoon through the hole in the top to make sure ice cubes get properly mixed if you find that to be a problem. (If you add ice cubes one or two at a time to the container with liquid already in blending on high, you will have the smoothest frozen beverage you have ever had with NO leftover ice chunks.)

The easiest way to clean it is to fill it 1/4 to 1/3 full of water, add ONE drop of dishwashing detergent, PUT THE LID ON, blend, shake and rinse.

Sure, it is a little loud (brings back memories of my childhood!) and if you drop the glass container on your foot, you'll be sorry, for your foot, because the container probably will never break. Notice that none of the Waring Blendor's detractors suggest an alternative.

If it isn't in the MOMA collection of Twentieth Century Industrial Design, it should be.

Buy a Waring Blendor and you'll never have to buy another blender. And neither will your children.

Housewares Review A Step Above the Rest
I have only used this blender once, but already I love it. I will update my review if anything changes. No more cheapo blenders for me! I have tried Oster (really bad), and Black and Decker from Walmart (a tad better, but it didn't work on frozen fruit and ice).

First, with the Waring, I made a frozen Island Oasis mix using ice, and the consistency was amazing.

Second, since I'm single, I absolutely love the small size (I think it's like 24 oz or so).

Third, it's not really that loud. I mean no louder than any other blender I've used.

Fourth, there are no cheap plastic parts! Yay! Only high quality parts. The jar is stainless steel. If the two top pieces are plastic or polycarbanate(?), they are of very high quality.

Fifth, the blades are built into the stainless steel container, and it's a snap to clean. Just add a cup of water, a few drops of cleaning liquid, run the blender for 30 seconds or so, rinse, dry and you're done! Cuts my cleaning time down considerably. Moreover, there's no unscrewing and cheap plastic round things that always tear. There is absolutely no way that you would have problems with a leaking jar.

Last, I didn't have any problems with a burning smell. I am sticking with Waring products. My mother has one (at least 32 years old), and it still works!

    Housewares Review Panasonic NEVER again
Door BLEW OPEN on my Panasonic microwave while using it to boil water for coffee in a cup I've been using for months! Called Panasonic and right away they had me talk to their lawyer. All he cared about was getting the microwave in their possession (maybe getting rid of evidence?). When I asked about getting it replaced, they said after they had it and checked it out, they would let me know. How do they expect me to be without a microwave oven for 2 weeks? 4 weeks? When I said I couldn't wait that long, since I have to feed my family, the lawyer said that is the legal agreement I consented to by buying the oven. My only solution is to buy a another microwave. I feel like a fool for buying a Panasonic. Never again.

Housewares Review Loved it, until it stopped working
I loved this microwave. It had a lot of great features (popcorn, sensor cooking, defrost, etc.), and they worked well. Unfortunately, the microwave just stopped working about a year after we purchased it. The lights on the front panel just never came on again, and we couldn't use it. I would have expected more life from the product.
