2) it's gonna cost you about... per year to keep this machine operating (replacement wick, air filter, and bacteria killing chemicals). that's a great business model for bemis, but not for the consumer. there are other models that humidify without wicks and without the use of chemicals.

This product definately lives up to the humidifier side, but I found that it was only decent as an air purifier, not really measuring up to some of Bemis' other fine products.

We bought this product, as part of our Dr. Weil '8 Weeks to Optimum Health' regimen. And, we really love it. During the winter, when the bedroom gets so dry, the humidifier really does the trick. And, it may be in our heads, but the air really does seem to be cleaner than in the rest of the house.

This product has great air quality ratings (HEPA, etc.) relative to other products in its price range, and was easy to set up, etc.

Our only gripe is that it is a bit of a pain to clean. You need to take it all apart, etc. However, this may be the case with all of these products, and thus, may just be par for the course.

We recommend this product whole-heartedly.

Like other reviewers I received damaged goods. I received the first unit in a damaged box and it had a cracked control panel. The replacement unit was worse - the bottom of the box was falling out, etc.. I actually plugged the second one in and it did not power up at all. Take heed of these reviews and do NOT purchase this dehumidifier from Amazon.

What a disappointment. The unit arrived in a box that practically fell apart. The power cord was hanging on the outside of the box. I didn't even have to open anything, the bottom just fell right out. The front panel of the unit was cracked. The top left corner was dented. It doesn't even work. I plugged the unit in, pushed the on & off button; nothing happened. A non-functional dehumidifier. In addition, the bottom of the box looks like it has been cut open and sealed back up. Don' waste your time or money!

good unit, good value. Large reservoir.
Pretty quiet. Used in basement- works extremely well keeping it dry. Simple styling, not too fancy. Metal housing/plastic face. Unit is on wheels which is nice since it is 60lbs.

It's loud, like being in a cheap hotel, we can't sleep with it on at night. Leaky, the tank is always leaking, when we fill it up. Moldy, the filter gets mold 1-2 weeks after we put a new one in. It is now in the trash. Save your money buy something else.

Overall, I like the product, but because it's being used in our bedroom (at night), I was hoping it was as quiet as the product description said it was. I've heard nosier (I had one), but this isn't quite what I was looking for. Maybe none are?

Very pleased with the Honeywell. I have two in my house in Western Colorady where the humidy tends to be quite low. They work perfectly although on the high setting are a bit loud.

Bought this unit for my baby's room. It's the third humidifier we buy for her, we had tried 2 other models from VICKS that were also loud - but not as bad as this one. When it arrived I found it a little too big, but decided to give it a shot. It worked fine for about one month, then started to make noises - it got louder and louder, and now it sounds like a water fountain and a motorcycle are in the room all night;
I decided to finally stop trying to find a cheaper humidifier that works, and just ordered the air-o-swiss - can't wait, hope this time we made the right choice;

I bought two of these to combat the dry air and static in the house during the winter months. One is upstairs in the bedroom, the other down in the living room. Both are running 24x7 on high speed, humidifying a 1200 sq. house. At high speed, they need to be filled once a day.

The benefit is that my humidity has gone from 20% down/18% up to 30% down/30% up. I don't get nasty static shocks anymore. Unlike the ultrasonic humidifier I used to run, these units do not leave annoying white (mineral?) deposits behind on everything. I noticed that I am also sleeping better at night too and don't wake with a dry nose.

Now the bad part: after three months, _both_ units have become noisy. New, they ran silent. Now over time, the fans are causing vibration, making them rattle. You can feel the strong vibration if you put your hand on the unit- as if the fan balance was off or the blades were dirty. I cleaned the fan blades with no success. One unit was making a scraping sound when the fan was turned by hand. That turned out to be caused by the pump impeller which I adjusted with a screwdriver (note: these units weren't designed to require adjustment). Still, with no dust or mineral buildup, they shouldn't be noisy after three months. Can this be attributed to wear, or to an economical design?

If it wasn't for both units becoming noisy after such as short time, I would rate this item much higher because it works great.

I think a minor care is still needed. Before I bought a humidifier, the quietness is my most concern. It is kind of loud if you turn the fan speeed at high level. It is quiet enough if I switch to slow. And I can tell you, this thing really works without too much care. All you need is a slight clean-up of base about 2-3 week(in my case). The tank can last up to 3 days without refilling on the low setting (I guess everybody got different resutly, doesnt' it?).
