humidors made simple!!I have been using the cigar oasis for about 1 year now. It has made my cigar maintenace a simple pleasure. The oasis has kept my humidor at 70% humidity for the entire year. I have replaced the water container 3 times so I am getting about 4 months for each refill. That means including the water my total cost of maintenece has been less than $45 annually. Keep in mind that I have 1 oasis humidifying a 300 cigar humidor that is opened at least once a day. The only issue I have had is that the metal contact ends in the oasis that the power cord plugs into are very delicate. One was damaged when I moved the oasis. Luckily there are two contacts and it still functions perfectly.

Does the jobI like the size of this humidifier/vaporizor, but it is a little noisier than I expected. I could not find the filters instore anywhere, which was very annoying so when I found them on Amazon, I ordered 4 of them to receive the free shipping. At least I'll have back-ups; we run the vaporizor almost 24 hrs a day since our baby girl was born 6 months ago. It's good for white noise too. Just remember to run it dry each time to make the filter last longer and prevent mildew from growing in the container.

It's a componentThe filter itself traps a lot of dust, especially when used with the prefilter. However, it is part of the overall system works with two specific models, therefore, shortcomings of the filter are shortcomings of the entire assembly. The only problem I have with the filter itself is that it is very expensive. That is why I am giving it four stars instead of five.
helps asthmatics a great dealThis product is more energy-efficient than many, which is a big plus for an item that many (like me) leave going 24 hours a day, due to bad allergies and asthma. These have helped my mom a great deal at her place, though she did have to return one unit that developed oily spots inside, then became noisy.

The good, the bad and the dustyLike some of the others who have reviewed this product, I was initially very impressed, but after about 6 months, I am loathe to use this humidifier at all, which was purchased for our toddler son's room.
Cons:
1. We have had a lot of white dust, even after replacing the filter. This is my chief complaint and the reason I don't use it very much.
2. The interior is harder to clean than my old cheapie humidifier (which allowed you to remove just the tray that held the filter and into which the water drained from the reservoir -- a way better design for cleaning purposes). The Air-O-Swiss 7133 requires that you unplug the device and haul the whole darn thing to the sink to clean it. When you do, remember to run water through the unit a few times to get all the gunk out. Some of it won't be immediately visible.
3. It is clear from the way the internal plastic is warping/melting that its lifespan will be disappointing, despite sparing use. In fact, this warping started immediately upon use.
4. Replacement filters are not easily located, though I think that is changing as this brand becomes more popular.
5. A small quibble - instructions were not as thorough as I would have liked.
Pros:
1. Good sized water reservoir.
2. This unit does not require new filters as frequently as some other cheaper humidifiers, but that's a good thing as each one is $13 or so. My old humidifier took $6 filters that I could buy at Target, but went through them like candy.
3. It's certainly more attractive than most humidifiers.
4. Option to have cool or warm mist is ultimately what sold me.
Having said all this, I'm not sure if there's a better option. If I had it to do over again (or the next time I feel like dropping a hundred bux on a humidifier -- yeah, right!) I might try a Slant/Fin instead.

Not worth the high costI've never written a review for a product before, but I had to warn folks about this one. I own three of these products and they work wonderfully (as advertised) for the first year. But they age very badly - the second year they litterally seem to fall apart (especially the new version with all the electronic sensors). Given the short life span, I'd say you're better off buying a cheaper version and considering it disposable.
a perfect humidifierit works like a charm. it is very quiet. i have experienced no "white dust"- i use it all day long.

Good air filter -- I've used Holmes filter for 10-15 yearsI bought my first Holmes HEPA air filtering machine more than a decade ago, and have been satisfied enough not to have bought any other brand since then, although I have had four Holmes air filter machines since then.
The first model I bought (I think it was the 220) is apparently discontinued, but it would be no exageration to call it a life-saver. I bought my first one because I lived in a house with a HEAVY chain smoker. Even though rated for only a single small room, that little sucker grabbed enormous amounts of smoke and the white paper on the filter blackened within weeks from particulate cancer-causing material which it saved me from inhaling. The next two filter machines I bought for a house which was infested with black mold. The one closest to the worst mold area blackened very quickly, while the second one, further from the mold, only grayed somewhat in the same time period -- the filter was very obviously cleaning potentially deadly black mold spores from the air.
The model I have now uses the HAPF30 replacement, and it is doing "light duty" compared to the first three I owned. I would have given this five stars except that I have the very distinct impression that this particular filter replacement is less efficient than the earlier ones I owned -- the filter has grayed with use, but I don't have the impression that the color change has been due entirely to grabbing airborne pollutants; I suspect (but don't have any evidence) that the filter is catching carbon which is being blown forward by the fan or else is catching dust which the negative ions generated by the machine itself have caused to fall.
Despite my suspicion that this is less efficient than earlier models, I still rate it four stars because I know that it is filtering SOMETHING out of the air, and I trust the Holmes brand -- they have earned my confidence through many years of arduous work. (I've never experienced any mechanical problems with one, either, until long, long after the warranty has expired. These things are real workhorses.) If the fans on the machines are kept to low settings they are fairly quiet, but at high speed they genrate quite a bit of noise, which can be a blessing in itself since the machine can act as a "white noise" generator to mask *noise* pollution, too.

Terrible!!This humidifier is horrible. The thing is loud!! Yeah right it has a quiet mode. Also, the water container does get everywhere. The water leaks out and makes a mess. Also, the filter has to constantly be changed. If you use the filter while your child is sick put the humidifier away for a month you have to get another filter. You cna't really feel any mist coming out and it doesn't shut off automatically. I returned this humidifier and got a comparbly priced one from Vicks. It is not that loud, granted none of them are quiet and the water container is big and the filter is reusable for more than one use.
Compact and efficientThis little unit is both compact and efficient, but is noisier than I would have expected or wanted. I purchased it for my office and it has helped tremendously. I was concerned when I received it- although packaged securely, there was a small crack in the motor housing- it doesn't seem to affect it's operation however.
great for the moneyThis is my first review but I had to respond to all the other negative things about this humidfier. I think for the size and price it's great. The sound is a consistent low roar which I have to say I don't mind because my 13 month old has slept through the night since we bought it! Yes, if you don't get the top in right it spills but I think any brand would. I can even turn it on with my foot, in the dark, while holding my 25 lb baby and heading toward the rocking chair for naptime/bedtime. I even bought one to have at my mother's house for the same low roar for the baby. It worked, and once I had it he slept thru again.
