I purchased it because it had a good name and my apartment had too much moisture. Once I set it up, the dehumidifier did not collect any moisture and runs very loud. We tried it for a few more days, but no moisture was collected. Had to return it. It was somewhat a hassle trying to use the same box to repack it.

This is a nice looking machine. It runs quiet. It is on wheels for easy movement. And it comes with the hose for continuous draining, which most do not. I purchased this dehumidifier after moving into an old house with a very dank, musty basement, about 1200 sq/ft. I drilled a hole in the collection bucket per instructions for the hose attachment, turned it on and was amazed at the water it took out of the air. My basement is noticeably more comfortable and the musty smell is gone. I check it every month to make sure it is still going. It is. It has exceeded my expectations.

I bought this about a half a year ago and have never looked back; This was one of the greatest purchasers I have made. I am from the south were it is dusty, hot, and muggy. This porduct has faced the toughest conditions and has come out victorious on the end. i dont know why other people have given this a bad review. This dehumidifer is much quieter than most others and most importantly, doe swhat its supposed to . not to mention this classy design. It fits easily into any room in my house and i serves many purposes. I reccomend this to any especially with pets or allergies.

Overall, this is a great unit! We have both this one and a Hamilton Beach True Air (which I highly recommend if you want a cool mist humidifier). This Slant/Fin takes a lot of maintenance, but it's worth it. It helped with our infant's congestion from the moment we plugged it in. The filters are reasonably priced at a $1 apiece, but you will run through them quickly if you have hard water like we do. After 7 days of almost continuous use, my water reservoir had a lot of build-up, but cleaning it is a small price to pay to know that our child is breathing clean air! It's actually amazing to look at the filter when it's full of muck- imagine that stuff in your lungs and then see if you complain about the maintenance :-)!

Others might say this unit requires a lot of TLC. It does. I am willing to do that to have a unit that works as well as this one does.

We have hard water so I clean mine out about every 48 hours. I do empty the bottom part out and rinse each time I refill the top part and I also rinse out the pad.

When I clean the unit, I let it sit in vinegar while I'm out doing shopping or whatever so that it doesn't seem like a long time (an hour or two or if I don't need it at night, overnight). It says in the manual 20-30 minutes, but that isn't long enough when you have hard water. By leaving the mineral pad in the unit while it's soaking in vinegar, it also cleans the pad. I have a little toothbrush I keep to clean the water sensors in the vinegar just before I rinse out the vinegar.

The top part that is filled with water, I clean about once a week. I put in about 1/2 cup of bleach and fill it with water. I let it sit while I am cleaning the bottom part out with vinegar. I rinse both the bottom part and pad out a few times to fully rinse out the vinegar and the top part out to rinse out the bleach.

If 99.99% bacteria-free humidity is a must for you for health reasons as it is for me...I don't think you'll mind keeping up with this. Keep in mind, I have mine running for a full 5 months out of the year (24/7 practically) so I probably need a little more upkeep on mine than most people.

After trying the many other humidifiers out there, Slant/Fin is by far my favorite. The others only put out germs into the air. Maybe they are easier to clean, but who wants to breathe in the white powder it spits out? Who wants to breathe in water that's sitting there with bacteria in it because it's not boiled to rid it of the bad germs?? NOT ME!

This is our first Slant/Fin humidifier. I appreciate the controls to set humidity levels in the room. This cuts down on creating excessive humidity which encourages mold growth. The UV light is a nice feature as well, though I must say that the benefits from it are more psychological. Owners who have severe allergies may feel the benefits from this more than we have.

Clean up is also easy. When it is used daily, I've found that cleaning the unit once a week is more than adequate. The humidifier that this Slant/Fin replaced was quieter, but this humidifier is still silent. All in all a good buy, if our experience is any indication.

I live in a 10'*10' room which is quite small. But this humidifier has no effect on making the air of my room wet but it did make the table which I placed it very wet! And I filled it with purified water but it ran out of water in 2 hours! Maybe suitable for car I think.

I generally like this product. It does what it says it will do, which is to generate mist. It is not noisy, but it is not quiet either, as is claimed. It emits a high-pitched whine which my co-workers in adjacent cubes can hear, though they say they can tune it out. I probably will not use it at work, since I don't want to irritate anybody.

I bought this and put it in one of our rooms for a couple of hours then I brought in my AMPROBE and another guage and found that this one was off by 20% with humidity and 1.2 degrees.

Also, the company that it comes from wanted a 10% restocking fee.
