I recently sold this unit because I didn't think I needed it at my new place BUT after the recent rains and moisture, I developed a very dank, mildewy type smell in my bedroom. I started waking up congested. So I bought another unit and it's helping to combat the smell and the allergies! The only problem with this model is that the front door doesn't shut correctly. You have to slam it shut VERY firmly or the machine won't turn on. Both the machines had the same issue. Other than that, it's a good machine.

On the two highest settings, it works as a 'white noise maker' which helps block out traffic/roommate noise. Good stuff.

I purchased the product 7 months ago and only now am ordering replacement filters. The green light says they don't need replacing, but one look at the amount of dust captured in the filters says otherwise. Considering that I run the product for at least 8 hours a day, 7 months seems reasonable to me. I use the product to both filter the air in my room and drown out noises from the street/other rooms. The lowest setting is about as loud as a typical car air conditioner on the second lowest setting. The highest setting is a bit noisy, but you would rarely need to use that level to achieve high air quality in a normal sized bedroom. Overall, I am very happy with the product.

Pros - Quiet at lowest setting, very effective room air movement, 4 fan speeds.

Cons - Loud at higher settings, needs 2 replacement pre & main fiters (expensive), big & intrusive, no auto-shutoff like my Hunter Hepatech 375.

I use this for my infant's bedroom and it is very effective at moving the air as you can certainly feel the draft from the other side of the room even at the lowest setting. I also noticed that my son breathes easier when sleeping (less coughing fits) so I guess it works though I have not had it long enough to see the filter get dirty yet. The motor at anything but the lowest setting is loud & VERY loud at the highest setting. On the other hand, the louder settings allow us to use the cleaner also as a very effective "white noise" maker. Overall, it does the job well but I am dreading the cost of having to replace 4 filters (2 pre & 2 main) each time.

I ordered this back in the winter of 2004, and kept getting message from Amazon indicating that there is a delay in shipping the product. After 2 delays, I just canceled the order. That is the first time I had a bad experience with Amazon, and I planned to cancel my Amazon-branded Visa card as a protest.

Who ever is selling this can't even seem to come up with the product. I suggest finding someplace else to purchase it. I ordered this in Feburary now its April and they still can't seem to find one to ship. They claim ships in one to two weeks, yeh right. Allergies and other nastys in the air don't wait for these shmos.

Last year I ordered this item and it was back ordered for months & months - I finally gave up. This year I order it again and got it within 3 days! One problem, they forgot to put in the remote control but the company is shipping me one off when it comes in stock (2 weeks). I got it in excellent shape and it is quietly humming in my house right at this minute.

I got a good deal on this humidifer at a local store. I brought it home filled it with water set it in my living room and plugged it in. All very simple. I then procede to turn the thing on. WOW! It was so loud even on the lowest setting that I had to turn up my tv to hear it. Ill never know if it actually raises the humidity in the room because after 15 minutes I packed it back up and took it back to the store.
