We've had this humidifier for about 2 years now and use it only occasionally. The reason we use it sparingly is because it is way too loud. It has a very annoying vibrational noise that can be damped by pushing down hard on the lid. Since I can't stand next to it pushing the lid down all night, we have to put up with the amazingly loud humming. The other problem with this humidifier is that it is hard to clean inside the tube that draws-up the water. It is removable, but you need to have pipe-cleaners to get inside it. The non-removable disc in the lid is also filled with gunk that I can't get out. Save your money!

My biggest complaint about this humidifier, is that lots and lots of stores sell the humidifier, but I have found it impossible to find replacement filters. If you do get this humidifier, make sure you buy a ton of filters, because once they are gone, you will probably not be able to find new ones!

I bought this unit in mid-november for my 2 bedroom apartment. Overall it does a good job of maintaining a comfortable level of humidity typically around 45-50%. However the unit is constantly ON. It never cycles and this is with the humidistat set at just off of it's lowest setting and the fan speed on the mid setting which will give you tolerable noise level. What has caused me concern is how quickly the filter has gotten mouldy and that the air out of the unit smells like musty. I have changed the the Protec cartridge as recommended every 30 days and cleaned the filter several times per the instructions in the manual. I phoned the manufacturer (Kaz not Honeywell) and they say the filter will only last 1 to 3 months and that it needs to be cleaned every week. I pointed out that no where in the manual does it state that frequent a cleaning period nor such a short filter life and that in-fact it states that the filter should last one season. She said sorry and that there is nothing they can or will do other that tell you where you can get a new filter for $11.

This humidifier is quiet, fast humiderfication, can sit on floor rollers or on its own tower..... IT IS THE BEST, THE GREATEST.

As an exercise in design, this is a rare product. It is simple and simply wonderful. It has a strange 'Jetson' asthetic that grows on you over time, and the functionality is near perfect. Purchase an extra filter or two and keep it clean or it will carry odors.

The only space for a humidifier in our tiny bedroom is right next to our bed on the night table or next to it on the floor. I'm a very light sleeper and after trying a more modern Honeywell HWM450, which I returned because of the noise (even on low setting), I got this one, it is truly quiet and I can't hear it. This model is a bit outdated, and not very well-made, it has this "cheap" feel to it, but it does the job well so far, goes through almost entire tank per night on high and half tank on low. Cleaning is not bad, the only dislike - tank opening is too narrow to clean the inside using your hand. If you don't care about the noise - get the Honeywell HWM450. If you need it to be very quiet - get this one.

We are looking for a humidifier mainly for our upcoming baby. We bought a Holmes humidifier and were in awe about the noise, so we returned it the next day. We then decided to increase our budget and got this one after reading a lot of reviews, and it is definitely worth it! It's very quiet and it works. Both my husband and I are sleeping better now. We are now set for the baby!

I searched high and low for a decent humidifier...they were all too loud, too expensive, and too unreliable. I read virtually every review online, and couldn't find one that was very enthusiastic. I had a Honeywell Cool Mist humidifier, which was a complete waste. It uses filters like mad (and if you don't change them often you just end up spewing mold all over), is noisy, and barely made the room more humid. Stay away from cool humidifiers.

THIS humidifier is a pleasure. It is virtually silent (I use it in my bedroom, where a newborn sleeps), doesn't empty too quickly, starts up fast, and doesn't cost a lot. It is probably the best on the market (and I've looked at them all!). The only problem is finding one in stock. They are sold out everywhere. If Amazon has this when you read this, snatch it up!
