Second Rowenta in three years. Both developed major leaks after a short time in use. We're now shopping for yet another new iron but made by another manufacturer.

Shame on Rowenta.

We have now gone through the second DM170 in 2 years. The first one was replaced just as the warranty expired, and now the new one they sent us has problems too. Leaking out of the sole plate and handle. Also, it just shuts off for some reason. You have to plug it in several times to reset it.

Our 1st Rowenta (not one of our DM170's) also had this shutoff problem (of course Rowenta wanted us to pay the $45 repair charge on a $70 iron). Rowenta refused to replace it of course and also declined this second DM170 as being under warranty. This will be our LAST Rowenta product. When it works, it works great. Too many mornings my wife and I have had to change clothes due to the water spotting and fighting with it to turn back on.

Why is it so hard to make something so simple not leak or have faulty wiring?

Like many others, I thought Rowenta was THE brand of iron to get and maybe it was in the past. However, I've been disappointed with mine. It began to stream water after I had owned it a few months. I tried changing water, using the self-clean function, letting it heat up for several minutes - everything recommended in the owner's manual. It still trails water unpredictably over my clothes. I've noticed that several of the Rowenta irons on amazon's website have the same problem and I am most disappointed in the fact that the company has allowed the problem to continue. I'll go with another brand next time.

I bought this steamer for my boyfriend last November as a birthday gift and he loved it! However, by late spring, the arm on the steamer began to bend since it is located right next to the hot water area. Now, in August, the steamer won't heat up at all! $80 down the drain and it hasn't even been a year yet. It did start out great but gradually declined. I would recommend shopping around.

Able to iron 23 shirts with 1/2 gallon of water. Works well on cotton but not on linen. Overall it removes 90% of the wrinkles. Alot of nozzle gurgles even when you hold the hose vertical to allow water to drain back to tank. Occassionly water drips from nozzle and noticed alittle discoloring on clothes from steam.

I already got two. One went to my brother over the Pacific. At first, you might fidget a bit because it works slow with clothing compared to your ordinary irons which also provide pressure from their imposing weight. But you'd see this steamer is so nice for your clothes that need light or careful treatment. So far I've had no problem. Neither has my twin brother. He says it's very helpful as it removes the cost for dry cleaning(this is certainly the primary effect). I particularly like the steam coming out very quickly after you turn it on. With a little adjusting to the speed of the work itself(especially with thick fabrics), you'd soon really appreciate this machine. Still you might wish even this deluxe model had more steam output to effectively take care of heavier stuffs too. You know that'd upgrade to industrial purpose. That's why I feel I'm reasonably satisfied.

I purchased this iron about six months ago and it has already quit working. It wont heat up at all. My other iron was a Black & Decker that lasted for 12 years and only quit because it was dropped and broken. This iron is a piece of junk, Dont buy it.

This is a great Iron. I am a quilter, I have used the best irons and this is better. It does the job and yet it is a bit lighter. I also fused fabric. The sole plate doesn't need to be cleaned it just repells the sticky glue. And it's so inexpensive!!!!

I've gone thru alot of irons. This one is the best. Very smooth when ironing... Great Product

The Press is not a great buy. The lock dont always work, The machine make an anoying beep during pressing. It's made out of real cheap material. I would not recomend this press to anyone.

It took a little time for me to get use to the press iron, but now I know how to use it effeciently, I am happy with it. The result is very professional, like it came from the cleaners. However, my husband has had a hard time getting use to this iron, now he just leaves it to me.
The iron was smaller than I though it would be, I expected a press that could do a trouser leg in one go, but it is half the size.
The beeping sound one of the other reviewers mentioned is because they are leaving the iron down too long. It has an automatic shutoff after 15 seconds to keep the clothes from burning.

I used to hate "ironing day" until I got my Simplicity quick press. It has cut my ironing time in half and it is not as tiring as using a convensional iron. I love ironing my husband's pants and shirts! They look like I just got them back from the cleaners. You just have to initially play around with it until you learn how to best use the press. Also, be very careful with the top iron board, it is very hot- I got a nasty burn last week.
