I bought this iron about a year ago. The retractable cord appealed to me, because I could iron without the baby reaching up and yanking the cord, by retracting the slack. The retract never really worked very well. It constantly jammed. There was always at least 6 inches hanging out when I put the iron away. Then the iron just died completely. Although it is not the most pricey iron on the market, it should last for more than one year! This is the last Panasonic brand iron I purchase.

I've had this iron for several years, probably about 5. Never had any problems. Works well. I've just dropped it so many times; the base with the retracting cord has taken the brunt of the abuse. I broke the retraction and am now searching for a replacement part or service since the iron's main function is quite serviceable.

I bought this iron sometime back. It is easy to press cotton clothes with various steam options. It works fine...

My wife and I had two Roweanta irons one as a wedding gift and one we brought ourselves. With the price you would think that you were purchasing a high end iron but it is not. Dont try to iron anything white or the brown water it spits out on a constant bases will ruin your garment. And lets not talk about how much the piece of trash cuts off. I think both irons lasted for about 1 1/2 years which doesnt say alot. I see quite a few other posts with same senitments as far as performance..wish I would have read these posts prior to buying. BUYER BEWARE!

I have owned my Rowenta commercial professional item for about a year and a half and we probably used it once to twice a week and stored it in a typical fashion. Last week as the iron was heating there was a loud pop as sparks and smoke started flying from the back of the iron (on the cord where it meets the iron). It blew the fuse in the house and left black soot everywhere. Luckily I was there to unplug it. I called Rowenta customer service and was told that he fault was mine, but as a one time thing they would replace the cord on the iron. Why would I want that iron back? I was very disappointed with customer service - I will never buy a Rowenta again!

We've tried a number of irons in the past few years and this is the best. The heat settings, shape, steam function and all the other features on this model are fine, but its weight is what makes it most effective. One pass over clothes usually does the trick. Definitely worth the money.

I have to admit that I HATE IRONING! If the clothes aren't positioned correctly, you can actually iron wrinkles into the material, it's time consuming, makes the material shiny, etc. etc. etc. Before I bought this machine, mornings were very stressful -- the clothes I wanted to wear were wrinkled from being in such a tight closet, AND with a toddler/preschooler, I am always running late! That very stress is what made me search for a garment steamer. I had high hopes that this would make my life a lot easier, but REALLY doubted it would work. WELL! To my surprise, this steamer is a DREAM COME TRUE! I no longer have to worry about what I'm going to wear the next day! I just pick out what I want to wear in the morning, hang it on the rod, and within a minute or two, it looks like it was professionally pressed! I have used it many times, and I am STILL impressed by the results! Before I bought this, I paid $3.50 just to have my baby's holiday dress steamed (since hanging in a steamy bathroom did NOTHING to get the wrinkles out of satin and acrynalin!). This year, I was stressing out, trying to figure out which dress she would be wearing for her holiday pictures, when suddenly, I thought, "Why am I going crazy like this? I don't have to worry about taking it to the cleaners and then waiting a day or so to get it back -- I have the garment steamer!" And better yet, it worked like a charm - even on a dress with a brushed material! I have used it on brushed material, wool, cotton, etc! I really don't have a bad thing to say about this steamer at all. It's a great machine, and I'm actually on this site to buy another as a gift! Just one obvious suggestion: be careful you don't put the steam on or near your hands -- you'll get burned! I move the steam over the material, and THEN smooth it with my hand, once the steamer is away from that area. I couldn't recommend this item more strongly!
