Very sturdy with two great features

This is the ironing board I bought to go with my Rowenta DG-980 steamer. The iron rests nicely in the iron holder and has a heat-proof silicone rubber bumper that protects the sole plate of the iron from scratches and won't melt when the iron is put away hot. I use the linen rack underneath to hold the boiler portion of the steamer and it's just the right size and strength. The water compartment of the boiler is easily accessed from the linen rack, too. The board's feet are narrow enough that even on heavily padded carpet like ours the board doesn't wobble like my old board with 'T'-shaped legs/feet.

As for the 18" width of the main board, you certainly get plenty of working space. You can iron a lot of real estate at one time before having to shift the garment. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that the narrow end of the board is sometimes a little too wide to be convenient for some garments, but that doesn't stop me -- you just have to adjust the garment to accommodate it.

Overall, it's a good, sturdy, high quality ironing board that'll last a lifetime, plus you get the benefit of having a place to put your steamer and iron. I'd buy it again.

WARNING!!! Don't buy T-fal

I bought T-fal's top of the line Avantis iron even though I only have light ironing to do. It broke in less than a year - losing heat completely. T-fal would not stand behind it. I wrote to them several times. They insisted on the original sales receipt despite the fact I had the charge on my American Express bill. They had no technical advise either. Read other Amazon reviews on their products breakdowns! I've paid half as much for irons that lasted for years. Avoid this turkey and this company. I'll never buy another T-fal product and neither should you!

Great iron

I love this iron. I know someone who already owns this iron, so I had already heard good things about it, but now I can speak for myself. Definitely worth getting. It heats up fast, it's easy to pour water in without spilling everywhere and it has an auto shut-off feature. I couldn't ask for anything else!
