Irons Review A versatile little pot!
I'm replacing all my cookware with Lodge Logic. This little pot seemed like a luxury item, since I expected to use it to melt chocolate and butter or scald milk. But I cook and bake a lot so decided to treat myself to a specialty item.

It was delivered a few minutes ago, and I can immediately see a lot of uses for it, including: reheating gravy, heating a single serving of vegetables or other side dish, warming a 14 oz. serving of soup. And of course, melting chocolate and butter.

It has a pleasing shape, and the handle is a good length. Spouts on either side will make pouring easy and neat. Another winner, Lodge!

Irons Review 6 years tops
I have used this wok for 6 years and now need a new one. The surface deteriorates with constant use over time. We did season properly and followed direction. It does however provide excellent results and it is great for the occassional wok cook. We need something else that won't break down over time.

Irons Review Not Round Bottom, But Good For A Flat Bottom Wok
Juat a "heads-up" for those of you looking for a nice Round Bottom Wok. This wok is listed as "round bottom", so I ordered one for use on my gas top stove. I specifically wanted a round bottom wok as I not only believe they cook more evenly, but I have a wok ring to use with it. Amazon suggested I buy a wok ring to go with this wok. When it came, it was FLAT BOTTOM! I was so disappointed, but ordered another (which shipped very quickly, thank you Amazon) and the second one was ALSO FLAT BOTTOM! I returned it, too. I am taking a break from the order-and-return cycle, but hope to shop again here with Amazon. I just won't order the Joyce Chen Round Bottom Wok...although the quality looks superb.

Irons Review Wok this Way!
This is heavy, solid, and BIG. Lightly ridged sides keep food out of the oil. It's sturdy, well-made, generously sized -- this is a real treat to cook with.

This is a rounded bottom wok. It's best used for cooking on a gas range. If you cook on electric, you'll want the flat-bottomed wok. It also needs to be "seasoned" they way you would season cast iron. If you do that, you will end up with a cook surface that cleans up beautifully. However, you do have to be aware of this when you scrub it clean - don't use anything too abrasive or you'll have to re-season it.

I have been nothing but pleased with the performance of this pan. It heats up well, cooks beautifully, and the seasoning has made it lightly non-stick (just like with cast iron) and so cleaning up isn't a major chore. I heartily recommend this wok for anyone cooking over gas. I love mine, and I think you will love it, too.

Irons Review Worth the money spent
I bought this iron as I was in need of one and I did not want to spend too much money on it. This product is worth the money paid for it. It does do the steam ironing but I feel the heat is bit lessened because of the presence of water before the hot plate. While for dry ironing, this is perfectly OK

Irons Review Quick - What's missing?
This is a very nice item. It goes great with the iron skillet.

Why in the world does it not come preseasoned like the skillet that matches it?

This seems like a no-brainer to me.

As others have noted the color of the lid differs from the preseasoned and REALLY great skillet also by Lodge.

I have moved away from the Teflon based skillets because of their link with overheating and leaching into cooked food.

I have been pleasantly surpised at how smooth this transition has been.

The price can't be beat and it wasn't purchased at Wally World (Walmart).

Irons Review Not pre-seasoned, but it doesn't really matter.
Although this is made by the Lodge Logic brand, the one that I received was not pre-seasoned. Instead of the dark black iron, it was a ligher natural grey. It also rusts extremely easy, which is why it needs to be seasoned somewhat. It's not as much as concern with a lid however, since you're not going to be cooking on it anyways. It works great, I just gave it four stars because I was under the impression that it would also be pre-seasoned as well.

Irons Review Just like the old days, but new
I was so glad to find a good deal for a cast-iron lid to my well-aged cast-iron pan. One thing I forgot is that this lid needs to be immediately seasoned as soon as you get it or it will begin to show rust. No problem, just brush off the rust and bake on a slick finish. Unfortunately, animal shortening is the best stuff.

The lid shipped in record time and I recommend cast iron to the uninitiated.

Irons Review Good product, great service.
It arrived with a broken handle. As you can see in the picture, the handle is a little samll for a heavy skillet like this one. But no problem, I packed it up, returned it, and a replacement was received considabily fast! (for super saver free shipping, Amazon probably lost money on this purchase for sending the heavy skillet 3 times (original, return, and replacement). Great service Amazon!

I had no experience using cast-iron cookware prior to this one but I consider myself and pretty good cook. I did a lot of reading and research on cast iron, and gave this a try. It works great! The pre-season coating worked as promised. I use it to prepare steak mostly and the result was nice. I am still experimenting and adjusting cook time as this piece works differently than any other cookware I had before, but I like what it can do so far. I have seen the same skillet (except for the boy scouts logo) selling cheaper at Walmart. But for something that heavy, I can understand the extra cost even just for shipping. I have not seen one with the boy scout logo anywhere and I think it looks a lot more handsome that the regular one. Combining the 2 factors, I think the extra few dollars was well worthed.

Ever since I have the skillet, I am constantly watching for good steak on sale from the local georcery so I can do more (rewarding) experiments.

Irons Review Very good pan
This skillet is made with the typical Lodge quality and attention to detail. While I'm sure that it is functionaly identical to the regular 12-in skillet, the Boy Scout emblem on the bottom makes it stand out. Perfect for the campsite, back yard BBQ, or the kitchen.

Irons Review Not bad
I've always been told cast iron is best. Muffins came out fine but with a slight taste of "cast iron". Maybe there is remedy for that. This a great treat for the little ones.

Irons Review smaller than I expected
Although it performs well, and produces very nice muffins, this pan was much smaller than I was expecting. The muffin cups are somewhere in-between a normal muffin and a mini muffin. Cast iron does produce very even results however, so I have to give it 5 stars

Irons Review great dutch oven
My husband has been cooking up a storm. He would like it better if the inside had a smoother finish.

Irons Review Looks as Good as it Cooks!
I already have a 4-quart dutch oven and wanted a larger one, which could be used to bake a chicken or simply for cooking for a larger group of people. So, my wife purchased the Lewis & Clark dutch oven for my birthday, which fits the bill--partly because it is a deep 12" (8 quarts) and partly because it looks so good. I baked a whole chicken (with vegetables) in it last night and it worked perfect. I even managed to toast the top of the chicken without scorcing the bottom. The food looked like it was ready for a photo shoot. The oven worked great!

The pre-seasoned cast iron was new to me. At first I was concerned because out of the box the surface of the pot was rough to the touch. However, after I used it last night I noticed that the pre-seasoning had smoothed out and now looks like a piece of cast iron cookware that has been in use for years! Amazing.

Now if I can somehow figure out how to justify buying Lodge's 2-quart camp dutch oven, I'll be a happy cook.

Jack

Irons Review So pleased with this girly heart pan!
This pan is gorgeous and cute and is super easy to clean. I know its gonna last forever because my parents cooked with this brand and those pans are still around. I do have to say I prefer the red over my parents'choice of orange, though. And lastly, how adorable is a heart shape pan? It makes me smile when I am cooking rice.

Irons Review Love that heart-shaped Le Creuset!!
This fun Le Creuset pot is easy to love, cooks things so very well and is such fun to use. It was easy to order and was shipped so promptly. Wonderful!!

Irons Review 101 Year Warranty says it all!
Not only are Le Creuset products beautiful, they are well designed and extremely durable. How many companies offer a 101 year warranty on cookware???? Le Creuset is the only one I know of to offer such a warranty, which in my opinion demonstrates the quality you receive when purchasing their items.

As for this particular design, it has to be my favorite, whether for special occassions or everyday use. I get so many compliments about my unique cookware.

Trust me, you'll be delighted if you purchase the Heart Casserole!!

Irons Review Not Practical
I followed the directions to the letter and cured my new pan as instructed.
It's a great idea, but it just doesn't work.
The cornbread sticks to pan.

Irons Review Really enhances your cornbread!
I just recently purchased three of these (one for myself, one for a friend & one as a gift). You have to season it first, but there are instructions included for doing so. So far, I have only used mine once, but the cornbread turned out really great. I really like it because the cornbread is so crusty and that is the part that I like!!!

Irons Review Good Skillet
I usually bake cornbread in my 10" cast iron skillet but thought this would be a nice variation. I seasoned the skillet and before pouring in the batter, I wiped it down with oil and placed it in the oven to get hot. There was a little bit of sticking in the corner but nothing that damaged the cornbread. I've used it several times since then, mostly working on modifying my own recipe to fit the pan, and the cornbread pops right out. The cornbread from this pan pairs really well with beans and other types of soup.

I have also used the skillet to make scones and muffins. If you are building your Lodge collection, this is a very good and useful addition.
