Dutch OvenPerfect size for cornbread or rolls and being pre-seasoned you can use it straight out of the box!
Cookware you have a relationship with.People seem to either love, hate, or have total disinterest in cast iron cookware. I love it. It seems to have a lot more soul than "modern" utensils.
I've been reading "Little House on the Prarie" to my daughter and she enjoyed hearing how the Ingalls used a pot just like daddy has.
This dutch oven is quite versitile. I can use it with campfire coals, with charcoal, over my Coleman campstove, or in the oven at home. The legs are too long to use on my rangetop at home (without risking damage to the range surface).
Dutch oven cooking is an acquired skill (on top of the general cast iron learning curve), but I've had no problems so far. I have mostly used it to make chicken or beef stew when camping.
Once you get hooked on dutch ovens, then you start wanting accessories. I use a charcoal chimney to start the coals, a pair of metal tongs to move the coals around, and a metal oil drain pan to contain the coals. I've just ordered a Lodge lid lifter, lid rack, and leather gloves to make the whole process a bit easier and safer.
I'm also already thinking of my next dutch oven. It will be the "deep" 8 quart. The 4 quart being reviewed here is 10" diameter at the lid and 3-1/2" deep. The "deep" 8 quart is 12" at the lid and 5" deep. (The standard depth 12" oven is 6 quarts, the standard depth 8 quart is 14" diameter). For soup or stew I like to leave some space below the rim so I probably only get 3 quarts in the 4 quart model, while the deeper 8 quart model would allow a greater percentage of the volume to be used. I imagine for bisquits or other baked goods the standard depth is probably fine.

Great Camping ExperienceI purchased this dutch oven to use with my Cub Scout pack. It is fantastic! I have used it twice to make biscuits and they were wonderful. I also purchased the 8 quart dutch oven and made deer stew for the entire pack . The pots were very easy to clean up . I highly recommend this item and I am considering purchasing an additional one to use for making dessert.

25 years and countingIt's hard to find something new to say about Le Creuset that all other reviewers haven't. So I'm going to focus on clean-up and sturdiness. One of my favorite uses for this pot is polenta. That's right: nasty, sticky, constant-stirring polenta that sticks to everything and hardens to near-stone status if not cleaned immediately. I make a batch about once a week and keep it in the fridge for quick meals or snacks. Once the Le Creuset pot has cooled, I put it in the sink with a little Dawn and warm water and let it soak, then use a plain old plastic scraper for the tough bits and sponge off the rest. And that's it.
I've owned most of my Le Creuset for over twenty years now and it still looks like new. And I've cooked just about everything in it. Date bars (especially sticky), cheese dishes (ditto), everything comes off with very little effort beyond a good soak. And what's really amazing is that, for most of that time, I've used it on electric burners, which involves a lot of dragging and (one would think) scratching. The stuff still looks like new.
Yes, it's heavy. On the other hand, the weight protects it against accidents, which is a real bonus. You'll never have to worry about accidentally hitting a handle and having the whole thing end up on the floor.
In other words, this is what heirlooms are made of.

Simply the Best! This is truly the best all-around piece of cookware available anywhere. It's low height, wide round shape, and heavy weight make it perfect for almost anything from stove-top cooking to long oven braises. If I only had one pot in my kitchen... this would be it!
You get what you pay forOuch is this stuff expensive! But rarely do you get a product that does exactly what you expect it to do. It cleans up so easy, cooks everything so perfectly. I love the damn thing.
If you have the cash you must have one - and this is the perfect size. It will last generations.

Not what I expectedWorking in a full-price retail store, I use a Jiffy Steamer on a weekly basis. So when I discovered they sold a cheaper version I got one. Well boy was I disppointed! The "puffs" of steam stopped long before my garment was decent. After a while, it just stopped working altogether. Now the plate is filthy (from who knows what) and the thing is practically useless! Save your money and listen to these people's reviews.
Don't bother with this oneI have to echo some of the other customers' negative sentiments below - this thing never really worked well. Recently I noticed it had completely died; I think I used it all of 6 times. There have to be better models out there - I wouldn't recommend this one.
Great for travel and light steamingI have owned this iron for about three years now and I use it every week still. It is great for quick steaming of sweaters and quick ironing in the morning. Not great for stubborn wrinkles or delicate fabrics but that is not what its true purpose is. It is wonderful to throw in your suitcase for traveling. Just remember to keep cleaner on hand and clean it regularly.I recommend this iron for any business traveler!

Lacks flangesWe bought this lid for our Lodge deep fryer DFK2A and skillet 5SK2. Unfortunately this lid doesn't completely cover the two pouring spouts on the sides of both the skillet and fryer. The gaps let some of the steam escape during cooking, reducing its self basting, moisture and heat retention properties. And during storage, the gap is large enough to allow bugs to crawl into the pan. When we are camping, we still need to put foil over the pan, partially defeating the purpose of the lid. If this lid had flanges, like the 9 inch lid, we would have given it 5 stars.

Sunbeam Retract Cord Steam Master Iron 4215

Changes a Chore into just a Quick Step in Getting Ready for the DayI hadn't bought a steam iron in fifteen years. I gave mine away before moving to China in 2002 and upon returning to America in 2005 I needed to buy a new one. In the past I would choose an iron based on a nice hefty weight, simplicity, traditional appearance, presence of a safety switch, and a good brand name. I was more than a little confused to find the featherweights with Jetson-like appearances and retractable cords available on the store shelves. Even after reading all of the boxes and comparing the floor-models I just didn't feel confident on the way home with my new purchase.
I have been extremely happy over the past year with my Sunbeam Steam Master Iron. I'm a big steam guy and really like that this model has a huge water tank. No more refilling halfway through the project. The iron heats up very quickly and even though it's very light it stays uniformly hot and has a good substantial feel in my hand. The controls are all at the top of the handle and easily accessible by my thumb while operating. The no stick surface has been great. I had had some bad luck with a no stick surface in the past; but this one has really been great. The only feature that I don't like is the retractable cord; so I fold the cord and stick it through the handle when I'm done using it. The few times that I've become distracted, walked away while ironing and then bolted back into the bedroom expecting to find it ablaze; I've been relieved to see the amber light blinking on the handle telling me that it has shut itself off. All things considered, this has been a great product. Show me one that will iron clothes without me and I'll switch.

Wonderful ironThis iron is great, Controls on the front, huge water reservoir, non-stick soleplate, and retracable cord. It feels good, lighter than some, and heats fast. Much better than the usual iron these days with the controls, for some insane reason, placed under the handle. I got mine drectly from Sunbeam's online store.

This iron is a toy.I bought this iron for the unique lifting feature. Seemed like a good idea, but the performance is terrible. I can safely say this is one of the worst irons I have ever used! The reality, is that no matter how nifty the lifting feature is, the iron still NEEDS TO WORK! I'm packing this up and returning it.
Ironing is already bad enough......and Oliso found a way to make it even worse!
Honestly, what were they thinking when they came up with this one? !? "Let's make a hot iron and knock itself off your ironing board and onto your feet!" I think they've achieved that!
WARNING: Unless you place this iron square and centered on your ironing board, it is likely to knock itself off your ironing board!

Cheap poorly-made gadgetThis is one of those toys you buy and play with for about a day, take it out of the closet to show your friends, but isn't good for daily ironing. It's a pretty iron but it doesn't work. I bought one despite what some other folks thought about this iron, and now I regret it, I should have paid more careful attention to all the reviews! It is true about the leaking, dribbling out water, lifters knocking it off the ironing board, poor and inconsistant steam, cheap plastic construction, and non-gliding soleplate.
