Irons Review Not a bad iron but...
After two of the Rowenta stopped working after a few months, I decided to look for something else. As for this one,
1. Nice but a little bit on the light side.
2. The button to release the water reservoir is to close to the handle. I accidentally push it so many time when grapping the handle. Annoying.
3. When you press the top button for water spray or additional steam, the water reservoid will try to pop out.
4. The stainless steel base is not that smooth. If you move the iron to fast, it will pull the fabric together and you will need a spray of water to remove the crease.

Irons Review Is It Possible To Love A Small Household Appliance?
...Because I think I love you, Panasonic NIC76SR Steam Iron. This iron is heavy enough to get the creases out of corduroy pants but also has a light touch for any delicate items. It's easy to fill, easy to clean, has a safety mode so you don't burn your house down--if only it would fold the laundry and walk the dog! I recommend this iron without reservations.

Irons Review Makes Good Waffles, But Needs Re-engineering
This was given to us as a gift. We returned it the next day. Although it made nice waffles, it had three major faults which are the reasons we returned it.

1) The handle is part plastic and part metal. The metal portions become extremely hot when the appliance is on.

2) The latch on the lid was very difficult to release once the waffles were cooked. However, on one occasion, during the middle of cooking, the lid blew open with explosive force and could have caused serious injury if anyone had been standing over it.

3) The batter really does go everywhere on this machine. It leaked all over the sides and the switch, making it a pain to clean.

There are better, safer, machines on the market.

Irons Review Love it!
I've worn out so many waffle irons and searched high and low for one that made more than 4 waffles for my big family. I loved this one despite the problems because:

It heats up fast!
Cooks the waffle fast!
Bigger than most waffle makers!
Comes with various recipes and I like how the "regular" recipe is large..made enough batter to keep in a lidded pitcher for days and the kids were able to make themselves waffle snacks any time they liked!

Those "pros" made it worth it to me, especially when comparing it to what's out there on the market..which isn't much.

Cons:

Yes, it leaks when you use more than about a cup of batter, just poor that CUP (not cup and a half) down the center line and it shouldn't be much of a problem. Just have paper towels handy because I find most waffle irons leak, some just worse than others.

I prefered cool touch makers with the plastic outside to this metal but I still like it this one!

I'd prefer the plastic on the handle covering the "entire" handle but just don't touch the metal part! It's a generously long portion for you to grab and open.

I do find the squares that make the "6" waffles smaller than other makers but it still makes a larger amount of waffles in it's entirety.

I like the "beeping" because I tend to always be multitasking so I can hear it in the next room or while eating at the table. Don't like how often it beeps while sitting there and we aren't ready to make another waffle yet. But it's not a problem.

All in all it's worth it. I love it!

Irons Review Outstanding
This item has not had much use to date, but the early returns show that it is indeed outstanding, good tempurature control etc, and I especially like the green light. It tells you when it is readyto use, but bet of all it tells you when your waffle is done. Tades the guess work out. Non stick feature works perfectly.

Irons Review One-trick pony
I purchased this pan a couple of months ago to make 10-12 egg dutch babies (aka popover pancakes/breakfast pancakes, depending on who you talk to) at our leased ski house. I opted for this rather than two 11" pans because I already have two 11" pans at home, and I don't need four in the off-season, so I figured this would give me some versatility and permit me to use it as a griddle.

For its primary purpose -- the breakfast pancake -- this has been okay, but not ideal (see below). But the only stovetop use involved in cooking those is heating the pan to melt the butter; everything else is done in the oven.

For every other stovetop function, I've been severely disappointed for two basic reasons: poor heat distribution and convex cooking surface. When I've tried to cook a package of bacon, the strips at the edge took two to three times longer to cook than those in the center; even the centered strips didn't cook uniformly, so I ended up having to choose between burning the middle and undercooking the outliers. Even when I was deep-frying breaded chicken breasts -- when I'd expect the properties of the liquid oil to disperse heat more or less evenly throughout the pan -- there were distinct hot and cool spots. The convex aspect of the pan makes sauteing difficult as well.

One caveat: So far, I've used this only on an electric stovetop, of the raised coiled burner variety. It's possible that, on a stovetop with a flat surface (e.g., my Thermador home cooktop with the big grates, or one of the new flat surface electrics), the convex surface takes the center away from the heat source enough to create more even distribution.

Unless that pans out (pun intended), however, this has turned out to be good in the oven but poor on the stove. Because that wasn't what I bought it for, count me as disappointed. At this price, I expected more than a one-trick pony.

Irons Review Non-stick Dream Pan
The Pre-seasoning makes this pan so easy to maintain and a dream to cook with. Nice large capacity, high heat cooking without worrying about toxic teflon chemicals absorbing into food. This is healthy cooking with easy non-stick clean up.
I love making pan pizza in this skillet, everything just tastes better. You won't be dissapointed. Just brought my expensive set of teflon down the basement and am replacing with Lodge Logic.

Irons Review calling all Lodge lovers
It's big, it's black, it's cast iron! I had the 15in skillet in my wish list for a long time when this one showed up in my gold box. I didn't even mind paying the higher price for a pre-seasoned piece which is a bonus for a skillet of this size. The two smaller handles on this one make it even easier to get in and out of the oven, not to mention giving it a better fit. It works just find on the stove top but will over hang the side a bit. A damp towell on the counter will help if your counter is not high heat proof. If you cook big meals for big crowds you're probably already in love with cast iron. Put this one on your list. And thank you Amazon; not many companies will wave shipping on somthing as heavy as cast iron.

Irons Review Skillets like Momma used to have.
Food just doesn't taste the same fried in cheap aluminum skillets. I would go so far to say that it's not really a "skillet" unless it's a cast-iron skillet! And Lodge is one of the best currently making them today.

Look, I'm not a great cook. In fact, I'm a living disaster. Aside from food being better when others fix it in cast-iron, there's the other advantage that these things are basically indestructible. No matter how badly I burn things or make impossible messes that seem to violate multiple laws of physics and reality in general, it still washes off! You can't say that about aluminum.

Go with cast-iron skillets, and save the aluminum for soda pop cans!

Irons Review I like Lodge
I have 3 of these. One was a gift about 30 years ago and then I bought two more when I found them on sale. Great for re-heating, grilling a sandwich, making hashbrowns, you name it. Food doesn't stick like it does in my stainless cookware.

Irons Review An essential piece of kitchen equipment
This is a key piece of kitchen hardware. Cast iron is 100% better than stainless steel, it gets hot and stays hot. It is effectively nonstick once it's seasoned and provided you add food at the correct temperature. Do NOT use soap to clean seasoned cast iron, just hot water and a brush. Seasoned cast iron is what Teflon is meant to be.

I find that women tend to scoff at cast iron -- my wife took years to come around to admitting that my Lodge cast iron cookware worked better than her steel pans.

Buy Lodge cast iron, season it, it will last more than a lifetime. There is no better cookware!

Irons Review Well made product, one drawback
I bought this lid and the 13 1/4" skillet at the same time. I got them, and love them both. The lid fits really well and makes a tight seal with the pan. The self basting points on the inside of the lid work great. Being the inquisitive type, I gently lifted the lid while cooking a pork loin, and looked in to see little droplets of moisture hanging on the points ready to fall like rain. This is an excellent idea, and shows that some thought went into this well made product's design. It should come pre seasoned though, to match the appearance of the pan, but since I'm not that fussy, it is OK.

The one drawback is the handle. Since you need to use good thick potholders with cast iron since it gets hot, the handle on the lid should have had more clearance under it, between the underside of the handle and the lid itself, so you would have room to fit big fingers, and thick potholders/mitts further under the handle. Considering the weight of the lid, the handle is a bit small for sure gripping. I think a mushroom shaped handle might even be better than a loop handle, but that is just my guess. At any rate, a bigger handle would be a nice change.

I recommend this lid to anyone that has a skillet it's size, even with the smallish handle.

Irons Review must -have for your big skillet!
You gotta have this big lid for your big skillet to seal in all those flavors. I bought this for the lodge 13- inch skillet and it fits snug and tight. Being so heavy it has it's pro's and con's.
Pro's: It acts as a crock-pot sealing in all those flavors and for meat all the juices so they only flow in your mouth and no-where else. Crock pots take hours and hours but you get the same result with this lid in half the time.
Con's: It comes unseasoned so you have to season this big guy and he is BIG!!! So get ready to spread tin foil all over your oven and open all the windows for the smell and the smoke detector(hate it)!!! Difficult to fit on a baking sheet as well to get that all around no marks even seasoning.
But on the long run the good definately out-weighs the latter.
If you have the 13 inch skillet this is a lid you'll love to have.
