Making Waffle is InterestingMy wife is looking for a waffle maker for a long time. We were searching around and asking around. Finally, we decided to get the VillaWare UNO Boat Waffler.
We have owned it for a week and are very happy with it. It's very easy to operate. It's real "non-stick". We have used it for four times (in a week) and it's absolutely clean.
Although there are much cheaper waffle maker in the market, I highly recommand this.

Looking for a Waffle Iron? Don't stop here!What happened to the research & devolpment team for the Cuisinart WAF-R Traditional Waffle Iron? They must be out eating waffles at the notorious Waffle Lady house of Waffles. The noise this waffle iron makes when your waffle is done sounds like a smoke alarm going off and oops, they forgot a volume control. You will burn your hand on the handle. If you put in too much batter, plan on the batter going in to the many cracks and crevices the design team thought they would add just for annoynance sake. The waffles we made turned out flatter than any pancake we'd ever made. Boo, hiss. Come on Cuisinart, you can do better than this.
design flawThe first waffle came out OK, but on our second try the lid mechanism locked with the waffle inside. We tried everything to get the waffler open but had to send it back, trapped waffle and all.
The Best Waffle Maker!After watching Elton Brown on Food Network one evening, I realized that a round traditional waffle maker is the best choice. After researching the best, I came up with Villaware and Cuisinart. Cuisinart has been wonderful, as I already own 2 food processors and a toaster. How could I go wrong? This Waffle iron far surpasses my previous one and is beautiful to look at.

ok wok, not big of a dealOrder the wok and got it damaged (off-shaped). The packaging is horrible. Basiclly they put the bare wok in the box filled with the giant air bubbles. The wok can move around freely in the box. Guess the damage is caused during shipping.
Return and reordered the Typhoon Carbon Steel wok, similar size and design, $3 cheaper. When I got it, I am very pleased with the quality:
*) properly packaged, plastic cover on the top, sheet of paper on the bottom; fitted in a box designed for it;
*) thick steel: 2.5mm rather than 1.8mm from joyce Chen;
*) handles are welded on the wok, so no dead spot when cleaning;
*) seasoning instruction are well documented, in 8 different languages, even thou I use my own seasoning way, not like joyce chen's one thin sheet of paper with not so clear instruction.
overall, Joyce Chen's wok is like the one you can get from Chinatown supermarket, and Typhoon one is like from Macy's.

Not for serious Chinese cook!I bought this wok 6 months ago. I seasoned it very well and started to use it. But I noticed the seasoning was easily peeled off when I cooked the dish with a lot of sauce. It meant I couldn't use it for steaming. When I made a fried rice, I had a hard time to clean it and re-season it. Most Chinese use a wok to cook everything, so I expected I could do that, too. But I was wrong. This wok is only good when you make a vegitable stir fry. That's all.
Wok talkI received the wok quickly. Have used it several times
after breaking it in and am thoroughly satisfied with it.

Cast Iron Meat Pounder

Excellent and solid malletThis type of design is the preferred type by any serious cook. Unorthodox, at first, but largely superior after a little practice. Slides much better than a conventional mallet, larger surface area provides more even pounding. You can get much thinner meat with this design than any other, in a shorter mount of time.
The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because I wish it was a little heavier. It is pretty heavy as-is, but if it was a little bigger, it would be perfect.

Best one out thereIf you are a serious cook this is the tenderizer you have been looking for. My first tenderizer was the "hammer" type tenderizer. It did an honest job tenderizing the meat along with your knuckles! For obvious reasons, I did not enjoy working with this particular model.
My second tenderizer was the "stamper" style. Again, it did an honest job but my hand would slip down on the handle and I would begin tenderizing my hand.
My last attempt at procuring a tenderizer I could live with is this particular model. I love the offset handle....no more sore knuckles or hand. The weight is fantastic! Basically, you just let the weight of the tenderizer do most of the work for you. Your job is just guide the plate to it's intended target. The surface of the tenderizing plate lets you cover a wider area than the "hammer or stamper" style. Thus reducing your time in half.
Clean up is easy, either wash by hand or place in the dish washer. So, what's not to like?

Short Life SpanI have had this waffle maker about 3 years and have used it about 20-30 times. It makes perfect waffles when you decide on desired doneness setting. Plus the heart shape is very pretty. I'd give this appliance 5 stars, but....
It just died on me in the middle of making a batch of waffles. No thermostat, no lights, no nothing. Up until that point I was extremely satisfied with the product. Then after reading the different reviews it seem this is par for the course with this brand and model. As much as I loved it, I won't be purchasing it again. Too bad the company just doesn't re-do the electrical design, then I could say that this is a perfect waffle maker.

Has a short, happy lifeTwo years to the day almost, the waffle iron functioned perfectly. But then the non-stick feature failed. Three-4 months later, using PAM to prevent waffles from sticking, the thermostat began to fail, finallying baking waffles to an unedible crisp. For this kind of price, one should expect a better quality product.
It is great while it lastsI purchased one of these around three years ago. I love the waffles it makes. After two uses it died. I sent it in. The factory fixed it and sent a letter saying the fuze had blown and not to plug the unit in with the setting at 6, which I have never done. The unit just died again today while cooking a waffle. I have used it about 20 times. I don't understand why the company cannot fix the problem with these units.
These waffle makers are so much better than the other units out there (I own several others), but the reliability sucks!!!
