Flowtron BK-80D review
Mosquitos swarm to itI had three Mosquito Magnets that worked well for a few months but nothing like this. There are more mosquitos being eliminated by this is one hour than my Mosquito Magnets did in three months without the hassle of propane cans and unreliable working parts that didn't function after a few months. I estimate that this Flowtron unit is eliminating 20 mosquitos per minute. This is an amazing product, far superior to the mosquito magnet, and it costs a fraction of the price.
AwesomeDon't even hesitate to buy this thing. It should be called the Flowtron Terminator. I have to keep the windows closed at night because it is zapping bugs all the time. I checked to see what types of bugs it is killing - alot of moths, mosquitos, flies.
I bought one as a gift for a friend and they love it too.

Scarecrow: Deer and Animal Repeller
Made by Contech

Average review score:

This one works! We have tried all sorts of things to keep deer from eating our
tomatoes and hosta (and almost everything else) and nothing works
short of covering everything with "deer netting." And the deer
around here are so brave (stupid) that nothing short of running
after them would scare them away.
This gadget certainly scares deer. We saw one older fawn who had
wandered into our back yard in search of breakfast. When he
triggered the device, not only did it bombard him with jets of
water, but the clicking of the sprayer added a sense of emergency
to it. The deer took off like a shot until it had found the
cover of some nearby woods.
Drawbacks: You can only cover a fairly small area, but you can
put it across the deer's usual paths. Moving it around probably
helps, too. And you have to keep it out of the way of the UPS
guy or neighborhood children (unless that's your intent).

Flowtron BK-40DMy husband and I recently moved to a very rual area between two national forest in NCA and were being eaten alive by bugs of all kinds. We purchased two of these units and it has made a significant reduction in the bug problem for us. We would suggest this to anyone who has a bug problem and enjoys the outdoors.
Great fast and easyHangs up right out of the box. Nothing to mess with, and really no need to read directions. You do not have to do anything to it before hanging it. Once it is hung plug it in and the bugs are gone. I like to sit and watch them fly into it.... to their death. The zapper is not a grid like some of them- Makes it easy to clean. Awesome.

Works GreatAfter trying two propane mosquito traps both by (Flowtron) that turned out to be faulty. We decided to try the TekQuest Mosquito catcher. Now going on its third season. This work horse is still going strong. This realy works without the propane tank or CO2. This unit works just like they state in the Product features paragraph listed above. They do have a web site http://www.rushhampton.com/mc_inf-R.pdf
This year I added a Octenol Mosquito Attractant Cartridge. It seems to do a little better, but works just fine without it.

Gnatrol - quart

yep - it worksI had a terrible problem with fungus gnats in my houseplants and patio plants -- including about 30 orchids, big fishtail palm - a couple years ago, and got ahold of Gnatrol after much searching and researching. You have to reapply it occasionally - about monthly in the warm season - but it is extremely effective and easy to use.

Can't Get it to Work in FloridaI switched from Octenol (which worked) to Lurex about 2 months ago and have not caught a mosquito since. I swabbed the tube where the attractant goes (per tech support), but it still does not work. I think the Mosquito Magnet is junk.
Dont use in Northern USMy 1 star is actually for Amazon.com. I have no idea how this product performs. I guess that if you look at the back of the box, it has a map of the United States and the bottom half uses this product. The top half uses Octenol, a different chemicle. I wish Amazon would have told me this because now I am stuck in New York with a product that will not do me any good. Amazon wants me to pay for return shipping, and will deduct the original "free" shipping charges, all because of their mistake.
1 star for amazon.

It Works as AdvertisedWe purchased a Mosquito Magnet about three years ago, and it never seemed to particularly well reducing the number of bites my wife and I always received when trying to use our deck or backyard. The Octenol attractant that MM used not only didn't attract the little bloodsuckers infesting our land, it almost seemed to be repelling them.
Our area used to be infested with regular woodland mosquitoes, but in the past few years, the nasty, aggressive Asian Tiger mosquitoes have pretty much entirely replaced our friendly (by comparison) local breed. We would have done just about anything to get rid of the Tiger mosquitoes that were active 24/7 and never seemed to give up, but I don't want to turn my yard into a toxic waste dump.
The new Lurex did a decent job of attracting the Tigers to the trap. In fact, it was swarming with them. Now our problem was tht the MM's fan just didn't generate enough suction to entrap much of the swarm. The Tiger mosquitoes were swarming dense enough around the MM that I didn't want to get near it to empty it without wearing a beekeeper's outfit, if only I had one.
So, yes, the Lurex-3 attractant worked exactly as advertised, but as a complete system, I'm still a bit underwhelmed with the MM until they install a fan with a higher CFM rate.

bugs bugsItem is working great! My yard is free of bugs. Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because most bugs stick to the "grate" surrounding the light instead of falling thru the bottom. I have to use canned air to clean about once a week.
Bugs BewareI was so tired of replacing my bug zappers and had a hard time finding one that would last more than one season without the bulb burning out. I reviewed several on line as all I could find in the stores were the Stingers, and I definitly didn't want another one of those. The Flowtron I ordered worked so well that my dad had to have one too. We bought an extra bulb just in case, but neither one of us has had to replace one yet. This zapper works so much better than any I have ever tried. I noticed right away a huge difference in my flying bug problem. I live next to a lake in Florida, so you can imagine the mosquito battle I had. Now I can sit outside in the evenings and enjoy the peaceful setting without continuously swatting bugs. I bought the 1 acre light and my dad only needed the 1/2 acre one. Both do a great job and would highly recommend a Flowtron Zapper to all in need.
Durable, effective on mosquitos, USA made I have used these for a few years. They are the same ones sold under the Sears label. Experiment with the height from the ground for different types of bugs. For mosquitos, place no more than six feet from the ground. Place in a shallow tray of water and watch the kill rate! Do not immerse any part of bulb or grid in water (rain won't harm it).

Didn't work for meWhen I first got this home, it seemed to do the trick ok. The mice really avoided it, however we could still hear them across the room. I was going to order a couple more to place around the room, but they walk right past it now! It doesn't seem to affect them at all! For $20 it's not a bad deal because obviously it works for some people, it just didn't work for us:(
Works great! This pest repeller works great in my attic repelling squirrels. The squirrels have broken in three times and are gone within 15 minutes. I would not use this inside the house because it does make a constant chirp sound. I can't hear this noise in the attic, so I will buy another when this wears out.
Honest Opinion: they seem to work for miceMy story is this: Got some mice in the house at the start of the winter. Little poops all over, chewed cereal bars in the closet/cupboard, mice in the trash can etc. Laid out traps and caught four of them but still had: little poops all over, chewed cereal bars in the closet/cupboard, mice in the trash can etc. So I brought two of these units. At first I put them both in the basement where I had actually seen the little critters (I have a pretty big house) and I didn't see any evidence of them in the basement after two days or so but upstairs it was still: little poops all over, chewed cereal bars in the closet/cupboard, mice in the trash can etc. So I moved the "pest repellers" upstairs and put all my food items in plastic containers. I saw some evidence of a mouse in the trash the first morning but since then, nothing. I don't know if it was me storing the food better, the pest repellers or both but I have seen nothing. I have been moving these things around the house every other day or so and they seem to work for me. I would give the unit five stars but they do have one draw back, they do make noise. If you expect these things to be quiet your in trouble, they chirp. It's not too loud and doesn't bother our dog or us but it does make noise. For me the chirping is a small price to pay to get rid of the mice.

Construction is not as solid as I expected but only one physical flaw apparent; the large ring to hang it up with is not welded and has a large gap. I discovered this when the unit fell from a hook because the wind vibrated it enough for the gap to eventually line straight up. Luckily nothing was damaged and it wasn't plugged in. This at least proved the unit wouldn't fall apart the first time its dropped, although I do not recommend trying this for yourself.
Seems to kill any bugs attracted to it very quickly and without clogging. Unfortunately not all bugs are attracted by a light source; but that is not a flaw of the product, its a flaw of the bugs!
Overall I am satisfied with the product.
