Carpet Cleaners Review Not worth it
Works ok if your floor is already clean. Other than that, it doesn't do much. It doesn't and won't miracously lift any stains off of the floor. Yes, it may kill some germs, but any bleach based cleaner will do the same thing, making the floor steamer useless.

Carpet Cleaners Review Does what is says - goodbye gross mops!
I absolutely hate mopping. I hate the cleaning solutions - the dirty water - the streaks - waiting for it to dry and then noticing it didn't really clean very well at all.

This product cleaned my floor ( with my help pushing back and forth ) in the matter of minutes and I can't stop raving about the shine that my black tiles had! I am a believer.

Carpet Cleaners Review I can't believe I went so long without this!
My kitchen and bathrooms have white floor tiles, with these grooves that lock dirt in, making it almost impossible to keep clean. I've tried everything from hand scrubbing to bleaching, and NOTHING has gotten them as clean as this little steam mop.

I had considered getting a floormate, or something like that, but decided not to because they require specific chemicals which you have to purchase for various floor types, plus they're cumbersome and noisy.

But then, I heared about this and decided to give it a try since they're fairly inexpensive, so I had nothing to lose.

What I love about it:
It's very light and portable. It's as easy to manuever as a swifter, and it's easier to carry around than a mop and bucket.
I love that it heats up fast. It takes only about 3-4 minutes for the steam to build up, so that's a bonus.
It's whisper quiet. The noise it makes is similar to an iron. I LOVE being able to steam my floors at night without having to worry about disturbing anyone.
It uses plain old tap water. So, you save a bundle from not having to continuously purchase the right chemicals.
The steam seems to really unlock and loosen up the dirt that's gotten trapped in the tile and in minutes the floor looks better than it did, even when I use to spend hours scrubing it on my hands and knees.
The pads are very durable. After I'm done using one, I just throw it in the washer with a little bleach, then let it air dry, and they've held up just fine.
Also, the pads have a waffle pattern which seems to really help with cleaning the floors.
I also have hardwood floors and this makes them look great.
I LOVE that the steam kills different types of bacteria.
The bottom line is that I couldn't be more pleased and I'll NEVER use a traditional mop ever again.
Do yourself a favor and get one.

Carpet Cleaners Review all mopped up
I ordered a steamboy mop and recieved it last week. I used it for the first time yesterday and I am most unhappy with it. I previously owned a Eureka envirosteamer which I loved. I was attempting to replace it since it is apparently no longer available. The steamboy did not leave my floor (high gloss tile) shiny, it did not glide smoothly over the floor, and the cord was too short. I feel that I have wasted $100. I would like to return it. We'll see how that goes since it came from "another seller". Hind site is 20/20.

Carpet Cleaners Review better than nothing....
I had wanted the Bissell 1867 steam mop after reading all the great reviews, but like all good things, it is no longer being made. So.... I tried this one instead and my expectations far exceeded reality.

The majority of our floors on the first story of the house are tiled in white ceramic with white grout (stupid, stupid, stupid) which has turned a nice dingy grey with years of neglect and usage. Needless to say, cleaning them is quite a chore and I was hoping to find a miracle solution.

The first time I used this mop there was such little steam that I thought my clothes iron could probably do a better job. This was quickly remedied by NOT using the cold water the instructions recommended, but by using very warm water (not sure if the water container could handle hot water due to the flimsy plastic tubing inside).

As another reviewer mentioned, the terrycloth mop head cover is poorly constructed and has started to tear after only 3 uses. FYI, the instructions say NOT to dry these in the dryer (oops! they shrink!)-- not sure why they couldn't have pre-shrunk the fabric to make usage much easier for customers.

The mop itself is constructed cheaply, but is quite light-weight and easy to maneuver around the toilet, cupboards, etc. And the swivel component of the mop-head makes it easy to clean around corners.

As for performance, once I figured out to used warm water, the mop did produce quite a bit of steam. As I have never used another steam mop, I cannot compare the adequacy of the steam produced to sanitize the floors. While my dirty grout is STILL not white, I will say that the steam mop has helped somewhat to clean it. (MUCH better than any mop I have purchased in the past.) But, sigh, no miracle.

Until the steam is produced, the mop does leave wet puddles on the floor, but I just use an old towel to dry it after I am done.

I havn't had a problem with the cord being too short, but we do have an island in the middle of the room with an electrical outlet.

I would never use this mop to clean up spills -- it just isn't practical. But, for the weekly cleaning of the floors, I find it simple to use and much more enjoyable than the old mop and bucket. (gotta love the sound of the steam as it comes out -- quite soothing!)

Carpet Cleaners Review only game in town
I tried a friend's bissell steam mop and it was great. I couldn't locate it for purchase so I bought this one. The mop head cloth cover is tearing after 2 uses and the electric cord is too short, but it is better than nothing.

Carpet Cleaners Review This one is "buyer beware"
When it was working, it did a good job, but that was not often. We bought one of these a little over a year ago, it arrived badly mis-assembled and not working. They shipped me a new one, then the "turbo brush" kept jamming somehow (cause never determined, by us or service tech) and breaking the belts. I live in Atlanta, and I was able to find all of one place that actually has replacement belts, despite the cleaner being availible in almost any big box store in town. And this place charged about 4X what Bissel charges off their web site. Then the heater died. Meanwhile, it was a constant fight to get it to spray cleaning fluid. Then the trigger for the spray broke off somewhere deep in the innards. Then, finally, 30 days after the warranty expired, the motor quit. Its now gone, and we've replaced it with another brand, which at least worked out of the box.
A further note-this model has a rotating brush powered by the same motor as provides vacuum. Seems like a good idea, but does not work so well. It is mounted on a loose hinge that lets it down when the machine is in use, there is no weight behind it, so it just sits on the top of the carpet and tickles it a little. We tried out a Hoover model, and its brushes work far better-they seem to have some of the weight of the machine holding them down. Also, the one we ended up getting has what appears to be the same model motor as this Bissell (same manufacturer and appearance, cannot see the model number without pulling it apart), but no rotating brush, and the suction is far better. May not be related, but if you want a powered brush, may want to think about one with its own dedicated motor. We certainly have found that makes a huge difference with regular vacuums. Makes me wonder if the failed motor was due to all the problems we had with the brush?

Carpet Cleaners Review Great cleaning, but durability needs work!
This cleaner worked great for about 2 years. (10 uses) I have three kids and one cat. Then I noticed the upright lock pedal was not working and then the next time I used it, the cleaner wouldn't spray water. (it would only suck if you poured water on the floor) I took it to a vaccuum repair center and he showed me where the problem was. He said there is a design flaw that allows the screws in the top casing to strip over time (machine too heavy) and this in turn, breaks the suction from the water tank to the valve on the base. He said it was not worth fixing and that the pumps were also common to stop working. So, I got out the Gorilla Glue and glued the top to the base and secured the screws with glue. At least for the time being, the cleaner is working again.

Carpet Cleaners Review Good, but still need Stanley Steamer
Works well for in-between cleanings and stains. Definitely much more affordable than having carpets professionally cleaned three times a year like I need to with all my pets! However, the water container does leak a fair amount when full of clean water--it's not a huge problem, but it does make a bit of a mess. I am really glad I bought this--I clean my carpets at least once a month now that I have it, but I will still have them professionally steam cleaned yearly.
