Carpet Cleaners Review So so job
I bought this a couple of years ago and it's impossible to keep it from leaking from the cup where you put the cleaning solution. I've tried everything. If this is a newer model, hopefully it does a better job.

Carpet Cleaners Review Dirty water collects on underside and drips into carpet
After cleaning my front room with the 9300 model from Costco, I immediately returned it. About half way through cleaning I lifted up the cleaner on it's nose to look underneath and the underside was coated in big drops of dirty water. When pulling backward, most of those drips can be sucked up, but when pushing forward they will drip off the vaccuum, into your carpet, then you have more drips to get out. I certainly wasn't happy to see all the dirty drips that I had to work to get out, so now I'm back in the market for a home carpet cleaner.

Carpet Cleaners Review One of the best investments we've made!!
I don't normally write reviews but I was compelled to say something about this one! We purchased the 9400 off of Ebay and I must say, it is absolutely amazing! I've used a few differant kinds of carpet shampooers (including a rug doctor and a few differant Hoover models) and this one just blows them all out of the water! It's bought new life to our carpets, it even got out old koolaide and grease stains out of our dining room. Our carpets look and feel brand new, and with two young kids and a dog, it's a great thing to have around. Honestly, even if you think your going to have to replace your carpets, try this out first, you might be surprized at what it can do! I'm not normally about dropping so much money on any one thing, but it's alot better than having to buy new carpeting in a few years! It's really easy to use, I LOVE the tank in tank thing b/c there's only one thing you have to take to the sink. The two rows of brushes leave your carpets freshly groomed, and can really bring all of the dog hair up and out of the floor. It does spit it out in hair balls, but it's supposed to do that so it doesn't clog up the machine. All of the tools work great except for the turbo brush, which is just kinda a joke. If you want to save some $$ though, try looking for the 9200 on Ebay and buy any extra tools you really need off of the bissell website. I was lucky enough to find the 9400 for $70, just check it out first, you never know!
As for some of the problems other people have had... on ours the brushes do stop moving when it is upright so we can use the tools, but because on some other ones the brushes don't stop, be sure to check that when you get it. Also, I recomend following the directions on the review from the engineer and drill a couple of holes in the back for the exaust. We noticed that it was getting pretty hot after use, so we decided to do this and it helped increase the suction and it doesn't get hot anymore. Maybe this is why some people's machines poop out after only a few years, I imagine the motor would eventually burn out from overheating. It really is stupid that they put the exaust on the bottom of the machine, air can't really escape because it's right against the carpet. Just be carefull not to drill into something you're not supposed to!!!!! We only needed to carve out a couple holes about an inch above the existing exaust vents. I know some people have had a problem with suction, for us it exstracts about 70-80% of the dirty water, which is what is expected according to the bissell website. Also, if you have any problems, check out their troubleshooting page, there's some good suggestions on there that could really help you out or at least narrow down the problem.
Everything said here, it's worth it's weight in gold!! Even if you have some of the problems that some others have had, they are repairable and it's worth the effort to fix because it works soooo great!!! Hope this helps!

Carpet Cleaners Review Great while it worked
I agree with other reviewers that this little steamvac does NOT in fact produce steam. Nor does it heat the water. What it does is inject water - of whatever temperature you put into the reservoir - into the carpet or upholstery and then vacuums it up, along with whatever spill or mess you're trying to clean, and it does that very well. I thought it was a useful spot cleaner - it was a lifesaver with two puppies - that worked great for a year or so, but then the water injector stopped working. I have continued to use the vacuum for small messes - more as a wet-vac - by using a spray bottle to saturate the area to be cleaned with hot water/carpet cleaner. But the appliance still broke way too soon. In fairness to Hoover, perhaps if I'd been proactive and contacted them about it at the time it broke they would have repaired or replaced the unit, but I didn't. Now it's been about five years and the vacuum still works great. I was looking on Amazon today considering buying a new one but due to $60+ cost I will just continue to use my half-working one and spray bottle.

Carpet Cleaners Review Excellent Cleaner Unbeatable Price
Because of the many favorable reviews I bought this little vac last week. I also ordered the Advanced Deep Cleaner with protector and I was AMAZED with the results. I've had a beige sofa bed that was dangerously close to be thrown away like garbage after several years of all types of kid abuse. My sofa looks brand new, smells great and it's soft and fluffy.

The machine is noisy, but it's not as bad as I expected. The fabric on my sofa dried up quickly because the machine sucks up till the last drop of water in it. The brush washed away even old ink stains (I soaked them in alcohol for a few minutes before cleaning)

Thanks to this little wonder is cheap, easy to use and very effective.

Carpet Cleaners Review just "OK" not great
Purchased because I wanted a bagless vacuum and something fairly light to carry around a small house and get under furniture. My very good old bagless Sanyo I got for $5 at a yard sale bit the dust when the kitties crashed a piece of furniture onto it (my fault, of course, really). This is pretty good at cleaning but the floor attachment's brush strip grabs the cat hair bunnies and clogs the head rather than sucking it up like the Sanyo did. I may remove the brush strip. Rug attachment likes to keep the cat hair even more, rather than sending it on its way. The most annoying thing is how extremely high-pitched and noisy the motor is. Bottom line is it does the job, with a little nozzle cleaning now and then, so I suppose I will live with it.

Carpet Cleaners Review Cute, but not effective
I recently purchased this vacuum. The attachments are cheap and it has a hard time picking up dirt off carpets. I do like the bagless canister, very easy to remove and empty. It is also a attractive vacuum, but if I were going to by another vacuum for $100 I would choose another type or buy a vacuum from Target and have the option to return if it doesn't do the job

Carpet Cleaners Review great
It is a great vaccum cleaner. Light weight and easy to glide around in small areas. It is bagless so you can keep it clean. It picks up cat fur like a breeze. Plus its a great buy at $99.00.

Carpet Cleaners Review Fairly satisfied...
I have enjoyed my Eureka vacuum, but the ezine where I read about it (Tips du Jour), the lady that was touting it said that it comes with an extra, rechargable battery.
I did not receive an extra battery with mine.

Carpet Cleaners Review Does what I'd hoped it would
The little Eureka was impressive for a cordless. The only let down I had when I opened the box is there was no back up batterry that I was led to believe would be included. I had heard about the product through Tips Du Jour where a subscriber had raved about it, so maybe that was a special offer that I missed out on. A second battery would cost almost as much as the vac!
I also had to pay shipping, again was led to believe that would have been included by the TDJ subscriber rave, so the was an initial let down. I decided to go ahead anyway because I needed a second vac and was intrigued; we have a lot of stairs, a big house and too mant cats. It does do a great job on cat hair!
The battery and shipping issues cost a star, but it is a good little worker. Allison

Carpet Cleaners Review Eureka 96B a Good Buy
I am overrall pleased with the purchase. The unit is not too noisy, the suction is good and I like the rotary brush that can be activated for carpeting. After each vacuuming, I'm surprised at how much it picks up....we have 3 cats. My only suggestion for new buyers is for them to purchase a second battery...the original one lasts about 20 minutes or so and I don't charge it until it's fully drained due to the memory retention effect of Nickel Cadmium batteries.

Carpet Cleaners Review Belts burning the casing
Loved this vacuum---at first!! The first couple weeks were great, then the belt slipped, the whole thing started smoking!! The belt burned through the inside casing and now won't stay in place. I've seen other reviews where this happened, so definitely nopt just my problem. I was very disappointed. Also the spinner brush stopes easily, as soon as you get any hair in it. Would not recommend at all.

Carpet Cleaners Review Broke twice
The arm sprayer on this machine broke once, so I ordered a new part from the manufacturer. After only 3 uses, the new sprayer broke. I did not order another part, I'm going to try something else (haven't decided what yet). As for the cleaning, it would clean juice stains and other miscellaneous stains (I don't have pets) well, but they would reappear after a few days of cleaning.

Carpet Cleaners Review Don't throw it out!
As others have stated - it works well when it works. I was really happy with the way it cleaned. I especially liked the turbo brush. But when I went to use it for only the second time the sprayer wouldn't work - a frequent complaint I understand. You don't have to be particularly handy to fix it. You need a screw driver, a pair of pliers and a paper clip. Unplug the machine. Take the four screws from the top out. Pull the top up. Underneath you will see a black box with 4 screws - undo. Underneath the cover is heater box. Lift up and undo the 5 screws on the bottom. You will see what is causing the problem. You don't need to disconnect the wires. Release the clamps holding the plastic tubes with the pliers and gently remove the tubes. Use the paper clip, opened, to clean out the holes in the heater. It did not take long at all.

Carpet Cleaners Review The Little That Finally Could
I purchased this as a replacement to an original little green machine.
The main selling points for this new Bissell were the pro heat feature, power rotating brush, easy removal and emptying of the fluid holders and an ergonomic design with cord wrap.

This new Bissell finally has enough amps to thoroughly clean and vacuums the stain you are removing.
At 9 amps, it is finally strong enough to remove almost all of the soap and wetness from the carpets lessening the air-drying time afterwards.
The unit can be a little noisy though; but how often do you clean stains anyway?

The down side of this unit is that the pro heat feature can turned on and off but not without the main power being on.
Simply put, you cannot preheat the water without having the cleaning power on as well and as I mentioned, it is a little noisy.

Carpet Cleaners Review Love it!
The Dirt Devil Reaction Dual Cyclonic works GREAT! We replaced a Bagless Wind Tunnel Hoover that we hated! Wish we would have made the switch sooner!

This Dirt Devil has a Great design, easy cleaning chambers at a great price!

We LOVE IT!

Carpet Cleaners Review Supersucker.
Hands down the best vacuum I've ever owned, suction is amazing, the dust cup is easy to empty, and the tools are nice too. I really enjoy being able to clearly see the progress in the dust cup as I clean and the spinning vortex of dirt and pet hair is just darn cool. It is easy to maneuver, lightweight in my opinion, much less so than our old bagged Dirt Devil, and it doesn't pull itself forward like my Mom's Hoover.

HEPA filtration is also a cool feature, although none of us have any allergies. I've been checking the filter and it only seems to need cleaning every half a dozen uses or so, which is a simple matter of rinsing in the sink. Also, it sounds different than any vacuum I've ever owned, not the sustained mechanical whirring I was used too; it varies in pitch which I assume is part of the mechanism that maintains constant suction. It is fairly loud, but not obnoxiously so, although when the rotating brush attachment is used it sounds like a spooling turbine.

My favorite things about it:
1)Suction power
2)32ft cord
3)Clear flexi-hose
4)Rotating brush attachment (works pet hair laden furniture)
5)Foot operated power switch (no bending over)

What would have been nice:
1)A way to disable the brushroll for hard wood floors
2)Fold away or collapsible handle for easier storage

I couldn't afford a Dyson and as best as I could figure this was the next best thing in the sub $200 category, over both Empower and Fusion. It certainly is enough vacuum for us and I hope it will last (4yr warranty is nice just in case).

Carpet Cleaners Review Let me tell you why I was skeptical...
I just bought the Reaction last week, but 6 months ago I bought the Dirt Devil Jaguar bagless, and stick with me because if you're evaulating vacuums, this is relevant.

Before buying the Jaguar, I checked the reviews on amazon. At that point, every review was 5 stars and every reviewer "loved" the vacuum. So OK, I went to Target and bought it, schlepped it home, and spent 15 minutes screwing all the parts together. I have wood floors and area rugs in most of the house, tile in the bathrooms, and carpeting in the bedrooms. Well the Jaguar has an 'exhaust' (for lack of a better term) in the front of the machine, toward the bottom. So as you approach the stuff that needs vacuuming up, the air coming from the exhaust blows it up in the air and all over the room! NOW - here's the thing. I wrote a review of the Jaguar noting this design flaw, and then EVERY review after mine mentions this problem! So, first everyone 'loves' it, then everyone 'hates' it. SO when I read the reviews here, as you can imagine, I was very skeptical. After calling the company's customer support number, I decided to buy the Reaction, and I decided that I would take it back to Target if it wasn't perfect.

Let me cut to the chase and say BELIEVE THE HYPE. This is a great vacuum cleaner, with a few small caveats.

* Very powerful
* Very easy to use on-board tools/hose
* Very easy to empty dirt 'cup'
* Excellent long power cord
* HEPA filter just needs rinsing occasionally, not replacing

Caveats:

* Relatively heavy. Not a problem if you are youngish and/or like a bit of a workout, but this is not a machine for your 86 year old mother.
* Relataively wide beater bar area. Not a problem unless you have a small house or apartment and/or lots of furniture close together, in which case I would think that the width would be a bit cumbersome. But then again maybe not.
* Too powerful for small, light area rugs. It will suck them up.

Bottom line: I love this vacuum. I love that it sucks up an unbelievable amount of dust/dirt. I love how easy it is to empty. I love that I only have to move the plug once to do the whole house. I love that I can do the baseboards just by pulling out the hose and sticking the crevice tool on it. I love that I can do the upholstered furniture with the little whiring brush attachment. And personally, I love that I get some exercise while I clean. The best vacuum I have ever owned (better than my $500+ Miele).

Carpet Cleaners Review Its okay, not great, not terrible
I have owned this for a couple of years. With three cats in house, the opportunities for cleaning up hairball aftermath abound.

Pros:
1. The unit is lightweight and easy to manage
2. Spots will lift if they are recent
3. Suction is adequate to substantially remove the cleaning liquid from the carpet or upholstery
4. Cord length is adequate for the average size room

Cons:
1. Not adequate to remove older or dried stains
2. Heated water would be more effective
3. Disassembly for cleaning is a little cumbersome

Overall, this unit is better than nothing. However, I would recommend looking for a unit that heats the water internally. I have found that function adds cleaning power to the larger upright cleaning units.

Carpet Cleaners Review Without it, I'd spend thousands....
We have two dogs...one VERY large and young...the other small and old. Without this tool (because it is a tool) and Resolve, I'd have spent thousands on carpet replacement.

Just tonight, my girlfriend who paints, left a plate with oil based paint on it on a table. My doberman thought maybe it was some food and decided to knock it down on the floor. We found it about an hour later. With the help of my trusty spotlifter, some paint thinner, and some resolve, we got it out to the point where I stood back and laughed. It's not perfect and someone who was really looking for stains will see it, but it is IMPRESSIVE.

Nobody without a pet should be without one of these.

Carpet Cleaners Review Excellent bargain - works great!
When I purchased this item a year ago, I could not believe itworked. Seriously.

I have cats and with hairballs and precious little "accidents," I have a very hard time keeping the carpets clean. I bought this little ditty at a Target store and used it to clean some tough spots on carpet in my former apartment. I worked like a charm!

It's really easy to handle, to change brushes and refill cleaning solution. It works great on stairs, where it's tougher for me to vacuum. It pulls out dirt and other yucky messes - including color spills - and leaves the carpet fresh. You can also use your own solutions to clean, including bleach or peroxide and water and it doesn't hurt the machine.

I purposely waited a year to review this item so see how it was with wear and tear. It use it A LOT. And it's still going. For a purchase in today's cheaply-manufactured economy, that's a real plus.

Carpet Cleaners Review This is below a 1 star
I originally purchased the spot bot because I was looking for something simple to use. Brought it home, tried it....it was leaking out black stuff all over my carpet. Returned it, decided to purchase the better model...a Proheat 2x Upright. Boy, I should have gone with the Hoover. Even though the bissel was recommended by the sales associate at Best Buy...this was my biggest mistake. Brought it home, tried it again (on my WHITE carpet, might I add)....black spots left AGAIN! Brought it back to best buy...they tried to tell me that it was something that I did when I put it together. It was NOT as my fiance and I went over the instructions 5 times to make sure it wasn't us. I mean, how could this happen with 2 separate bissel models??/ I thought it was us too..but nope....bissel did us wrong!

Now, if you have dark carpet...great, you probably wouldn't notice the black, dirty water spots that leak out. But,if you have very light (white) carpet like me...it is VERY noticeable. Very disappointed...now I'm worse off than I was before. BEWARE DO NOT buy this if you have light carpet! I'm sorry that i did. I had great hopes for this machine, but it let me down, twice.

Carpet Cleaners Review Good but has a couple quirks
Others have gone into very good detail about this machine so I won't go over that again. What I will add, however, is that there are a couple weird things about this carpet cleaner that I didn't expect.

The first is that if you have pets you will have to go back and pick up clumps of hair - even if you've just ran the vacuum cleaner. This is a good/bad situation as it's good that it's getting up all the hair that the vacuum cleaner missed but it's also a pain in the back (literally) to have to bend over every minute or two to pick up clumps of hair or risk clogging up the carpet cleaner with hair. We've lived in this house for 2 1/2 years and have had 2 cats the whole time, 2 dogs for 2 of those years so we expected some pet hair. We've ran the vacuum cleaner twice a week on average ever sinced we moved in, however, so you may not have that problem if you don't have as many animals as we have.

The second quirk - and one that will effect everyone - is the fact that it seems to leak. We have a "green machine" (portable hand held Bissell) that we have the same problem with so it seems to be a problem with all Bissell's. After you turn off the carpet cleaner and wrap the cord up you'll be surprised to see a mess of dirty water under where the carpet cleaner was. Tacks such as running a minute or so (continually moving it) before shutting it off doesn't work either. We have to store the carpet cleaner in the garage as it will continue to leak out over the next few hours or so and leaves a puddle of water about 6 inches in diameter.

The final little quirk is that, even though it cleans well, be prepared for the carpet to be very wet when you're done. The carpet cleaners that we're all familiar with that we rented when we lived in an apartment (rug doctors) dry your carpet better I believe because they're heavier. Bissell had to walk the fine line of making it light enough for the petite among us to use it while still cleaning the carept without doing damage to it. Like I said above, it cleans pretty good but the carpet is very wet afterwards. This quirk isn't that bad as long as you plan ahead.

Overall I give it 4 stars because it does it's job but the quirks keep it from being a must have product.

Carpet Cleaners Review Great machine!
I have never owned a carpet cleaner like this before. I used an upright Hoover a couple years ago that a friend owned but that's my only experience with this type of machine.

My wife and I have a large area rug approx. 12x16 and it needed cleaning bad. It had many stains from over 4 years of use. Most of the stains I had tried to remove with good'ol elbow grease but no luck. We decided to have it professionally cleaned but when we realized how expensive it was going to be ($300!!) we decided to buy our own. We purchased the Bissell Proheat 9200T from Target for $200 (Sorry Amazon!).

The unit was easy to assemble and use. Of course it took some getting use to but overall very easy. It ran out of clean water twice while I was cleaning and each time I didn't realize it for a couple of strokes. I wish there was an easy way to know if it needed more water. Also, like the previous poster mentioned carpet gunk gets stuck under the machine behind the rollers and it needs to be wiped clean periodically while cleaning. You also have to dismantle the front roller assembly by removing 5 screws in order to properly clean the unit when finished. I wish this was easier but I don't see it as a major problem as I don't anticipate using this everyday.

Our carpet is now spotless! We are thrilled with the results. There were dark black stains on our light beige colored rug for years and they are all gone now. I was only expecting a minor improvement but this machine made the rug look new again!!

For only $200 we have a brand-new rug and a great machine that will hopefully last for years. I can't recommend Bissell enough
