I have hade the same problems as eveyone else, heater plugged up.I finally got to fixing it and will see how it does. Funny how its a discontinued model but they still on the shelf at walmart.

Used it once. A few months later, it would not pump water.
It seems it is either the heater is clogged or the pump is bad. Either way SHAME on Bissell. This product should be recalled!!!!

This machine worked very nice the first two times I used it. Then, like so many other customers, my unit quit spaying. Sure enough, I took mine apart like those before me, and the heater was plugged up with lime and calcium. Terrible design flaw. Rather than attempting to fix it, I bypassed the heater with a piece of my own tubing. It works great now, minus the "extra-hot" water. If you buy this, use ONLY distilled water in the one gallon tank. The manufacturer should have thought of this. One nice thing I will say about the 1699. . . it IS powerful and picks up a lot of deep down dirt.

I bought this Green Machine from Lowes Hardware. It worked really well for about 10 uses (roughly 3 hours) and then dropped dead. I wound up throwing it away. Apparently they clog up very easily if you don't clean them throughly after every use and if you store them them with cleaner in the tank.

My fault probably but the instructions should inform you AND the unit should have a little more engineering. The concept is great.

I have the one with NO Turbo Brush. It's very very very GOOD carpet. But when I clean other tings than carpet, it dos not pick up. That is why i did not rate it 5 stars. It is VERY nosy. I would get it for carpet ONLY. But it is for 90's. Bissell was MUCH better Deep Cleaners. I'm not a big fan of this Bissell. Bissell dos not say Clean with this one, they say I Mean I Don't Work, not, We Mean CLEAN at all. It's OK but you should not get this Bissell deep cleaner. It's is very good on pet pee and other things. I think Bissell could do better on this. DO NOT GET THIS DEEP CLEANER! Remember, this is VERY VERY NOSY!

As a mom with two young kids, and a new home with new carpeting we were concerned about spills, spit up and such. This Bissell has saved us. We had a handheld small Bissell that worked OK, but after 5 years it gave out. We purchased this one and couldn't be more pleased. The heat feature really helps get the stain out, and the turbo brush works great. The seperate compartments make cleaning easier, and the ability to store with solution in it so it's always ready to go is a great plus.

I love this vacuum! My old Kirby wouldn't remove the dog hair from my worn carpet at all. Plus the upkeep and bags got to be pretty expensive. I have had this one for a few months and it has worked great! I love that it is bagless, and that I can replace the filters. The air quality in my house is 100 times better than it was!

I got tired of the dingy carpet in my place. Not wanting to rent a huge unit at a huge price, I decided to get this after reading the reviews. This machine not only did a good job in cleaning the rug, it also dried faster than the rental unit I had used in the past. Since it takes up the same space as a vacuum cleaner, storage is not a problem.

The quicksteamer is so handy. Very light and conveinant. I was really surprised how clean the carpet turned out.

I purchased this unit that was used 1 time at Goodwill..cleaned it up and it works GREAT..I just finished completely steaming my entire house..yes it took most of the day ..BUT it does a really
good job..amazing..good for those of us who have arthritis and can't lift or push much..
I also steamed my hardwood floors and it did great..they shine
like new..my house feels so clean!!
All you girls who have kids and pets..this little machine

I bought this cleaner to clean up after my cat and after about 4 or 5 uses it started to leak all the time...the bissell seems to leak more then it cleans. It is pretty irritating. This machine does clean ok but I would not recomend this to anyone.

I bought this cleaner in 2000, and it worked okay for the first few years. I was VERY disappointed that it only worked for 5 minutes and then had to be recharged. For spot cleaning, it worked fine, but for serious stains (mud and wine), it did not work as well as I thought it would. Also, the holding tank would leak, even when I made sure to tighten it. A few months ago, when I would plug it in for recharging, the red "charge" light would flicker, or not even come on. I ended up throwing it all away about a month ago. Not bad for $30, and almost 5 years of heavy use, but I give it only two stars because of the small amount of time it can work and that it didn't clean some stains.

Thanks to my male Jack Russell Terrier named Jasper, I have come to know this product fairly well. I have had it for 2 1/2 years and used it alot! It finally died yesterday and I feel that I spent less than $20 a year to remove urine spots left by Jasper. You can't beat that! I will be ordering a new one. I recommend this product.

This vacuum is powerful. It works well on big area floor. But if you want to use those on-board tools on hard-to-reach area or furnitures, it will be very dispointing. This is a big design flaw of this vacuum. There is a floor brush on the bottom of this vacuum. The brush works efficiently to loose the dirts from carpet and let the hose, which locate behind the brush, to suck them up. When you want to use those tools, you have to pull the hose from the bottom and connect it with the tool. However, the floor brush still works! Now you can imagine what will happen. The powerful high speed brush throws all dirts from floor through the bottom opening and these dirts happily fly over in your room.

I have owned the product for one month. While using it one day, I smelled what I believed to be rubber burning (the belt). I took off the bottom piece to check the belt and a large piece of plastic fell out. I replaced the contraption and tried to use the vacuum again, but now the belt will not stay in place, causing more damage. The vacuum worked well for the month I had it, minus the noise and weight. I contacted Bissell and they basically told me "too bad, so sad." Good luck returning it to the place you purchased it.

In response to all of you customers who commented that the vacuum stopped working well after one month, clean the filters!! The same thing happened to me and after cleaning the filters, it worked like new again. There are two filters, one above the dirt cup and one below it that build up dust gunk. My only complaint for this vacuum is that cleaning these filters every month can be a pain.

I just needed a basic carpet cleaner to clean a relatively small 15x15 carpet in a rental condo I own. I didn't want to spend a lot, so the price of this machine (and its hot water cleaning) appealed to me. The carpet is a light beige and only one year old. There were just a few dirty spots and one ketchup stain that I thought might be trouble. This machine worked beautifully and made the carpet look new. It really lifted dirt out of the carpet. You can tell by the dirty water that is dumped out from the holding tank. A great buy and machine for a relatively small carpet. Although this machine works great for smaller areas, I don't recommend it for larger areas for two reasons: the cleaning solution tank empties quickly, meaning you have to stop the machine, remove the empty tank and refill with hot water and solution, then empty the separate dirty water tank. Also, the width of the "cleaning nozzle" is not as wide as more expensive machines, meaning that you're cleaning less carpet with the same amount of movement. For smaller cleaning areas, this machine is a great buy.

I purchased this machine because we have lots of carpeting in the house and two sets of stairs that I would have to lug the cleaner up and down, so light weight was my main priority. I purchased an older model of this cleaner (and was more expensive, I paid $99 from Amazon), however other than the color it looks to be the same. This machine is so easy to fill, use and clean. Works very, very well for its price and is light weight to boot! Since it is smaller than the average cleaner you do have to make more passes to clean an area which may bother some but the ease, speed and weight of this machine makes up for that in my opinion. A little trick to get really soiled areas clean (I have 4 dogs and 3 boys in the house)is to pass over the area SLOWLY while depressing the water trigger and then pull the machine back over the same area while still depressing the water trigger. This method seems to lift out a lot more dirt. Then go over it a couple more times while not holding the water trigger to suck up the remaining water. Moving slowly and extracting as much water as you can is the key to using any carpet cleaner. I always try to use "green" eco friendly products when I can. I use hot water, Oxy Clean (or a generic equivilant) (completely dissolve in the hot water before use though) and Ecos carpet cleaner and this seems to work very very well. Sometimes I just use the Oxy Clean and hot water. The Oxy Clean really seems to deoderize and clean stains extremely well.

I often refer to these recommedations when buying products so I wanted to give this machine a decent amount of use before writing up a review. I've now owned the machine for approx. 8 months and it's been very reliable and effective. With 2 adult dogs and 1 puppy in the household we use this machine at least 1-2 times a week and it's been worth it's weight in gold. For dog clean-up I recommend buying a different cleaner than what comes with the machine but I use both at once. For muddy paw prints and dirt the machine can usually do the trick in 2 to 3 passes. This isn't the machine for you if you're looking to do an "all-over" carpet clean. Rather, the smaller size makes it more effcient for spot clean-up. And yes, don't let the picture fool you, it is a miniature version of the larger "vacuum-type" cleaners with no attachments. I've yet to have any problem with leakage. The clean-up of the machine is a little messy and I usually don't do it everytime. All in all, for what I paid I've been very pleased. If I had to replace it tomorrow I still think the 100+ uses was worth it's cost.

I have had my steam mop for 3 years now and I love it...it gets the floors so clean, it's easy to use, it fits into tight corners and underneath tight places, and it's easy clean-up (just throw pad in washing machine and empty water). I'm such a clean freak too. Recently I went to buy replacement pieces(filter, mop pads) and to my dismay, I couldn't get them anymore...this model's been discontinued! When left with no choice, I bought the Bissel Flip It...what a pain! Seperate cleaners to fill up for wood/vinyl, it doesn't fit underneath anything, it's clunky and cumbersome and always tipping over (once spilling out the contents of the "dirty" tank, and hard to clean up at the end. I have to pull out hair/dirt/dust from the tank and nozzle and rinse and clean the thing each time. I have 3 kids, I have no time for this! It does clean at least, but it takes so much more time/energy. Really a nightmare that my favorite hard floor cleaner has been replaced by a lesser model!

I don't know how I washed floors before my steam mop! The absolute greatest cleaning tool ever - it works superbly on both tile and Pergo with no mess or fuss - add water, plug it in, and steam clean your floors - lightweight and easy to use. No chemical smell and cleans like a dream!

I have had this steam mop for over a year now and I just don't know what I would do without it! I remember the first time I used it and it left a few streaks. I soon realized after using it a couple more times that it was only because of the built-up residue from all of the other chemicals I had used on my hard floors (hard wood cleaner) that resulted in the initial streaks. After only a couple uses, I no longer had streaks and my floors were the cleanest they had ever been. With two young kids, I wouldn't use anything but this mop on my floors. My floors never felt so clean, whether it's the bathroom or kitchen. The suggestions about the cord are right on, longer would be much better. If it gets clogged, just follow the instructions to clean head with vinegar, it's only happened once to me and I use it weekly! Love, love, love it!
