Carpet Cleaners Review near worthless
It's amazing that a company whose rep is based on it's vacuums would sell such a unit. When I had to go over the areas I vacuumed in order to pick up what was remaining on the floor, what use was it except for the possible dust that was found in the container? When approaching Hoover about this, their recommendation was to return the unit. So I did.

Carpet Cleaners Review poor design
Once i used mine for a while i notice it had a lot of design problems. The Hepa filter is not where it should be. It is inside the canister where it serves no purpose. It should be attached to the exaust where all the air comes out. The filter hoover has put on there is a small mesh type screen. You can wash it out but it is not going to stop any pollen or dust mites. Also beware, if it doesn't say TRUE Hepa then its not the same thing. The height adjustment nob is quite flimsy and has broken off a few times. The drive belt has also broken 3 times and i had to replace it. There are better choices out there.

Carpet Cleaners Review Bagless Wonder
I recently received one of these vacumes and having used bagless vacumes before, I was quite pleased with the ease in which this vacume can be cleaned. I agree with some of the reviews on the belt issue. I have had to change this one already. The belts seem to break easily if you go over objects as big as crayon pieces or coins but then it is not a shop vac! As for the amount of dirt that it picks up it is great! It really cleans down deep as evidenced by the amount of dirt in the container. Yes it is dusty but removing the container and taking it to the garage is a minor inconvienance when you figure you're not having to buy bags all the time. I would suggest having a few extra belts on hand though. As for the price, it is not the most expensive and well worth the money. Shop for the vacume that best fits your need. This is a good floor model and it's weight makes it hard to do stairs and carry around.

Carpet Cleaners Review Not Happy
At first this vacuum seemed like a good deal if you can handle the noise. I've had this for 4 months now and the filters are a real pain to clean. Now the dirt is blowing out of the bottom and the filters are clean. It is going back.

Carpet Cleaners Review Not really what I expected.
I had owned a bagless fantom vac until it died after less than a year so I guess I am comparing this vac to the fantom (when it was new). I went to a bag vac because the bad fantom experience had me scared. I was suprised at how cheap this vac feels. It seems to be about 95% plastic (these days what isn't?) so I hope it holds up. Assembly was easy. Seems to have good sucking power through the beater brush but the brush continues to rotate when using the hose wand. It will make it hard to vac out my car outside. Hose wand doesn't seem to have as much power as it could. The vac is very loud. If I had it to do over again I would at least go to a store that carries the model or similar models so I could have gotten a feel for the vac and its features before I bought. I mainly bought the vac on reviews at this site, which were helpful but it's still good to get some hands on experience before you buy. If I had done that I may have decided to spend a little extra for something more heavy duty.

Carpet Cleaners Review Hoover Widepath review
This vacuum cleaner picks up everything! I have a yellow lab that sheds and after I've vacuumed you would never know I had a dog. The only problems I have with it are that it is LOUD. Hope you don't have any sleeping babies. And the onboard cleaning tools dont always stay onboard (minor detail, I know). But all in all, it's a good vacuum cleaner!

Carpet Cleaners Review Hoover Poover
My sister in law owns this vacuum. When I visit them, I clean
their house...when i use this vacuum i always smell something burning. Then i knew the problem, it was on a low carpet setting. so i put it on the highest setting. (the carpets are really low and flat). Now it would be fine, but it wouldnt pick up anything, then the beater brush makes sqeeking sounds and burns up. Then when i use the attatchments, the hose keeps popping out of the vacuum!

Carpet Cleaners Review WORKS FOR ME!
I have used this vacuum several times a week for about 6 years now. We haven't had any problems with the vacuum cleaner. The only maintenance it needed was we had to change the belt a couple times which is normal. It cleans in snug corners well and the removeable rack makes it easy to carry around if need be.

Carpet Cleaners Review An excellent deal overall
Pros:
* very powerful suction
* excellent edge cleaning

Cons:
* excepting the motor, it is a conglomeration of cheap plastic parts
* the hose is too short, though the hose extension is helpful and it does fit extension tubes from other vacuums
* the electrical plug is not grounded

Overall, I am very pleased. It suits my inclination towards things that work great and are cheap.

Carpet Cleaners Review Made off shore by Maytag
My model was a Hoover U6616-900 WindTunnel Self Propelled Bagless Upright

This thing was great for two months while it lasted. The first 800 sq foot of carpet looks great compared to the rest of the house. However the Hoover went up in smoke. The manual says it has an over heat cut-off, but it over heated and all I could see was smoke. I had to air the house out. Taking the machine to the only authorized repair in the area 30 miles away, they laughed when they saw me coming in with the vacuumed. The said don't tell us it over heated. Yep and the motor fried $$$$$.

I admitted that the house was extra dirty but that was no excuse. Their official stand is that the final filter was too dirty and it was my fault. I should not have relied on the heat cutoff and not let my filter get dirty. WHAT! Not let the filter get dirty. Yep if it gets dirty all warranties are off.

The dealer said any fool that would buy a Hover that is now made by Maytag off shore deserves what I got.

So much for the Warranty.

Carpet Cleaners Review Barely working after 2 years of bi-weekly use
I've owned the sister model(6425-900) of this vac since October of 2000, but I'm a lousy housekeeper and probably only used it 10 times over the first 2 years. One of those years, it was only used on hardwood floors. However, once I bought my own place in 2002, bi-weekly vacuuming became the standard.

The good news:
1)The belts on this vacuum are still in pristine condition. So, the "cheapest" item to replace was NOT what broke on this model.
2) I got great suction the first two years.

The bad news:
1) The Self Propelled mechanism stopped working 2 months ago.
2) The bag level indicator stopped working about a year ago
3) As most reviewers pointed out, it is incredibly heavy.
4) Also, it's too big to fit under my kitchen baseboards. We recently had cream colored cabinets installed and now I've seeing marks where the green paint on the vacuum tansferred to the cabinets. Time to break out the attachments.
5) The suction power has degraded significantly. I vacuumed a 10 foot by 8 foot room tonight TWICE and then shampooed the carpet. My rug steamer picked up 3 times more pet hair than the vacuum did.

My next vacuum will be a Dyson.

Carpet Cleaners Review 4 Years Still Strong
I don't know what you people are doing with your machines, but mine is still running strong. I have brought it into work to prepare for tours and clean on occasion--industrial environment--and one of the employees recorded the model number to buy one for his home this year.

I was on Amazon looking for filters and saw the poor rating of this machine and could not believe my eyes at the criticisms of it. I have never used any vacuum cleaner with the power this one has. Everything works on mine and I haven't broken a belt yet. I am thinking about changing the original belt some day.

My housekeeper uses this--their policy is to use the clients' machines--and she commented that she thought it was the best of any of she uses.

It looks like this model has been discontinued and replaced by a U64??-900. I would highly recommend this product as a reasonably-priced vacuum cleaner that I have yet to find an equal. It is loud-Consumer Reports said that. My experience has been no different than the report I read on this machine in Consumer Reports when I bought it. They were right on the money.

Carpet Cleaners Review Buyer Beware!
You know the saying "You get what you pay for"? Well its true, especially when it comes to this vacuum. It actually wasn't too bad the first couple weeks that I had it. I have short carpeting and it worked rather well on that. However, the bare floor setting is a joke on bare floors- it just sends the dirt flying everywhere. Also, the settings for the accessories (like the extension hose, duster, etc.) is as powerful as a dustbuster. It's next to impossible to maneuver under a coffee table, and if you leave it standing in one place too long you start smelling something, like carpet burning. The worst part is is that 3 months into owning this, I turned it on and it started making a loud cracking noise- I tried to see what was wrong and flicked the switch a couple of times, and black smoke started coming out of it! That was the last time I tried to use it, and I'll never buy a Hoover again!

Do not buy this vacuum- you'll end up like me, looking for another one 3 months later. Pay a little more and get something that will last.

Carpet Cleaners Review Outstanding for the price.
Hoover has hit the mark for the average consumer. This vacuum has the main features you want for a good price. One of my requirements was a bare floor setting because I had carpeting and hardwood floors both. This unit had a wide range of cleaning settings. The weight was very reasonable and the washable alergenic filter was what I was looking for, not Heppa filters as the cost for those is too high. Great unit for the price!

Carpet Cleaners Review A Best Buy
I bought the vacuum cleaner last night and assembled it this morning. The instructions were easy to follow (trilingual!)and the unit fitted together easily. It ran the first time time I started it. It is very powerful, much more so than the upright AND canister cleaners it replaced. I like the combination of upright with the flexible hose because less storage space is required. The cleaner performs well to the side, a feature I've not had before. The ON OFF switch seems backward, having to push it down to turn the cleaner off. The unit didn't come with an Allergen Filtration bag and should have. A coupon to buy a package of those bags for a dollar less was included with the documentation. I don't suppose there's a way to have an automatic rewind of the power cord. The unit was purchased at Best Buy as a clearance (not "open box")item.
