Great!I received this as a gift about 6 months ago. It still works great for tidying up/keeping things clean. I use it all over the place (desktop, carpet, tile). It is great because it doesn't take up too much space, you don't have to haul out the huge vacuum cleaner and its constantly charging so you can just grab it, suck up dirt from anyplace small or large, put it back without thinking or dealing with a cord. This product is especially wonderful for apartments or dorm rooms but I recommend it to anyone that likes clean spaces.

Not good with dog hairI bought this product about a year ago! I am not happy with it!! It doesn't pick up dog hair it clumps it up and you have to pick it up off the floor. I feel like I am the vaccum cleaner. I am actually looking for a new vaccum!!!! It picks up little stuff but thats it. I wouldn't recommend this product if you have dogs or small kids!!
Mine Works Very WellI bought my Stick Vac even after reading the reviews. I only wanted a vacuum to replace my broop/dust mop. I have a Hoover and it works very well for the carpet. With a 3 year old and a one year old I need something to get the crumbs off the floor and in a new home with no pets but new carpet I have dust bunnies run amuck. This gets the runaway cheerios and dust exactly as I wanted it to and hoped it would. Suction is great, excellent even and without a revolving brush it doesn't kick back at my feet the food and dirt the kids left behind. As a matter of fact, the dust bunnies get sucked up as the vacuum is aproaching them. This is a big NO WAY on carpet. Read the reviews closely if you are considering this item. See where they are using it and where it doesn't work. If that is where you need it, i.e. CARPET, then do not get it. For hardwood floors and tile/linoleum, this product is great.
Best little sweeper around!!!I absolutely LOVE this sweeper!!! My family and I go camping every weekend and I bought it for use in my trailer. It's compact and easy to use!! I have had no problems with it at all. Although, I do agree with the others, I would not recommend it for use on carpet. It does do wonders on hard floors! I am going to buy another one for use in my home. I have a lot of ceramic tile floors throughout my house and this would make cleaning a breeze!

Suction? I am very disappointed in this product. I think it should be renamed the Dirt Devil Snail. It has very little suction power, and the hole for the debris to go through is as equally little. I bought this vac to sit next to the cat litter box, just to pick up the litter that dropped out, and it can't even do that. It takes less time to walk down the hall, get the regular vacuum out of the closet, drag it back to the cat room, lift it over the child gate, plug it in, etc., than it does to use the Dirt Devil Snail cordless vacuum. On that note, it is also difficult to replace it on the charger, it feels like it is going to break every time I try.
If you are looking for a good hand vac, try the Black & Decker Wet/Dry Dust Buster 7.2V. The Black & Decker is the way to go!

Good for flat surface (not carpet)I've owned this product since 2001 and I've been very pleased with its suction power. The hole is small depend on what you plan to use this for.
I was looking for a product to use in my bathroom, on a daily basis, to sweap the floor clean of hair (after blowdrying). It served that purpose really well.
It is useless for furniture or carpet but it's great for PERCISION cleaning and getting to tight corners or cracks.
Also, as is the case with ANY OTHER cordless product, it's only good for so many charges and eventually has to be replaced. I'm very happy with it's lifetime though (~5 years) of almost daily usage.
PROS:
- Light weight
- Holds its charge better than most other similar products
- Cordless
- Powerful suction
- Washable filter (no need to replace, just wash it in your sink)
CONS:
- Only useful for "bare" areas
- Not useful for furnitures or blinds
- Charger base is not a perfect fit and once you snap it on, it's hard to remove without extreme force.

Loudest dust buster I ever ownedI don't know if we just received a defective unit but when I run mine it sounds like a garbage disposal and it cranks down like an old model T when you turn it off. It does pick up everything and the hepa filter keeps the air clean but it is a bit scary to run it. Is this normal?

This is a vacuum? This vacuum is okay for cleaning up ceral, or some dirt but if you have pets be affraid! This machine does not pick up pet hair of furniture, or carpeting - and the little it does pick up ends up clogging the vacuum. If you are doing light cleanup - and I do mean light this is for you! Another bad feature the really short hose - what is that all about!
Bought, returned, and ordered other Shark modelFirst, the description does not note that the self cleaning duster attachment requires 2 AAA batteries. I found using the duster very awkward because an on-switch must be pushed the entire time the attachment is used, meaning both hands have to be used (one, to hold the vac, other, push the button).
The best thing about this hand vac is the hepa filter. It is quite small, though, and should be checked and cleaned frequently to maintain maximum suction of the hand vac. The motorized brush, though small, works well, but this attachment as well as the hepa filter are available on other Shark models, making neither selling points for the EP85SS model.
Here are the things I did not like about the EP85SS, other than the duster attachment:
1. The power cord is too short, limiting the hand vac's useful range. I measured it before returning it and the cord is 16-1/2' from where it meets the body of the hand vac to the base of the electrical outlet prongs. Keep in mind this is 3-1/2' shorter than Hoover's S2220 stick vac cord [that I also have], which a few reviewers say could be slightly longer. Depending on where ones available outlets are, the cord length of the EP85SS could be a problem.
2. The extension tube has a wobbly, less than tight fit into the hand vac's round opening.
3. The circular opening on this hand vac makes it less than useful for quick pick-ups without inserting an attachment.
(...) ordered a rechargeable Shark model (EP750H 18 Volt Cordless) here at Amazon after trying out one owned by a neighbor. The rechargeable EP750H seemed as powerful as the corded EP85SS I had returned and it's different opening makes it great for quick pick-ups. The extension tube had a more secure fit, too. My neighbor bought it at Target this fall, uses it daily, and loves it, but Target did not have it when I returned the EP85SS--so I ordered it here and hope to receive it soon.
My rating of 2 stars is for the hepa filter and motorized brush. These are definite positives, but as I stated earlier, available on other Shark models.

Yes, this is what I was looking forI have been looking for a smart looking, powerful, hand-held vacuum cleaner for upholstry, carpets and my car interior. I bought Euro-Pro's Shark EP 85 SS. I used it. Found it has almost everything I was looking for. Except: Retractable power cord. I found in the store another Euro-Pro Shark model with retractible cord, but it has less power (850W). The product would have got from me all the 5 stars if this model too had retractible cord.
